Abstract:
S@C-Co-N nanoporous carbon co-doped with cobalt and nitrogen as the cathode of lithium-sulfur battery are prepared. The synthetic route is carried out via the carbonization of metal organic frameworks polyhedron ZIF-67, followed by the heat treatment with sulfur. The SEM images suggest that C-Co-N composite maintains almost the same size and polyhedron shape of ZIF-67. The XRD pattern confirms the existence of cobalt element. As cathode for lithium-sulfur battery, the S@C-Co-N composite delivers a reversible capacity of 916.6 mAh?g?1 at the initial cycle and 460.5 mAh?g?1 after 500 cycles at 0.5 C, with a capacity fading of 0.09% per cycle.

Abstract:

In this paper, the basic theories of the Self-excited Oscillation Pulsed Jet Nozzle (SEOPJN) invented by the authors are introduced. Then, some experimental results are shown. According to the results, using tricorn bits assembled the SEOPJN to drill oil well, the rate of penetration (ROP) increases by 8% - 77%, and the rate of the footage for tricorn bit increases by 6.7% - 44%. Although the test was conducted in the water, good result was got in nature gas transportation. The volume of gas transportation could be increased by the Self-excited Oscillation Pulsed generator while the gas pressure drop could be decreased, since it significantly reduced the pressure loss during gas transportation.

A Wireless Video Transmission Scheme Based on MAC-independent Opportunistic Routing &Encoding Protocol

Abstract: It is a tremendous challenge to transmit real-time video streams over wireless sensor network because of the poor wireless communication conditions and the high requirements of video transmission. The opportunistic routing protocol can take advantage of the broadcast nature of wireless communication and can improve transfer throughput significantly. But the bigger size of transmission unit also increases the end-to-end delay at the same time. In order to overcome this problem and improve the real-time video transmission quality in wireless video sensor network, we propose a source adaptive frame discard algorithm for MAC-independent Opportunistic Routing & Encoding (MORE) Protocol in this paper. In our approach, the historical transmission delay is recorded to estimate current network transmission rate. Based on the video deadline, frames predicted to be delayed are discarded adaptively in the source node to get better overall video quality. In some practice application scenarios, there are usually need to deliver multiple video streams over multi-hop wireless network. It can’t work effectively with the originally MORE protocol in such scenarios. Furthermore, we modify the MORE protocol and design an adaptive scheme to support multiple video streams over multi-hop wireless video sensor network in this paper. The simulation results show that our algorithm can reduce frame loss rate and improve video quality significantly.
A Video Denoising Method Based on Grouping the Similar Blocks and Surfacelet

Abstract: In this study, a novel video denoising method combining similar block matching based on the PDS searching method, grouping these similar block strategy and Surfacelet transform is proposed. Firstly, we apply the SAD block matching criterion and PDS search algorithm which we proposed by searching all frames for blocks which are similar to the currently processed one. In the complex motion case, the method of PDS can effectively decrease the number of search points and search number. Secondly, the matched blocks are put together to stack into some new third dimension sub-video sequences and because of the similarity between them, the data in the video array exists high level of correlation. We apply the surfacelet transform to them and effectively attenuate the noise by solid threshold shrinkage of the coefficients. Finally, inversely transforming the coefficients and obtaining the denoising video according to the obtained locations in the block matching process. This algorithm is obviously better than other 3D Curvlet and 3D wavelet method in the denoising effect and the PSNR is increased about 0.6dB. In terms of visual quality, the proposed method can effectively preserve the video detail, and the trajectory of motion object is very smooth, which is especially suitable to process the video flames with plenty of large area movement object or background change.
Exome Sequencing of 18 Chinese Families with Congenital Cataracts: A New Sight of the NHS Gene

Abstract: Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate the mutation spectrum and frequency of 34 known genes in 18 Chinese families with congenital cataracts. Methods Genomic DNA and clinical data was collected from 18 families with congenital cataracts. Variations in 34 cataract-associated genes were screened by whole exome sequencing and then validated by Sanger sequencing. Results Eleven candidate variants in seven of the 34 genes were detected by exome sequencing and then confirmed by Sanger sequencing, including two variants predicted to be benign and the other pathogenic mutations. The nine mutations were present in 9 of the 18 (50%) families with congenital cataracts. Of the four families with mutations in the X-linked NHS gene, no other abnormalities were recorded except for cataract, in which a pseudo-dominant inheritance form was suggested, as female carriers also had different forms of cataracts. Conclusion This study expands the mutation spectrum and frequency of genes responsible for congenital cataract. Mutation in NHS is a common cause of nonsyndromic congenital cataract with pseudo-autosomal dominant inheritance. Combined with our previous studies, a genetic basis could be identified in 67.6% of families with congenital cataracts in our case series, in which mutations in genes encoding crystallins, genes encoding connexins, and NHS are responsible for 29.4%, 14.7%, and 11.8% of families, respectively. Our results suggest that mutations in NHS are the common cause of congenital cataract, both syndromic and nonsyndromic.
Dispersing Instant Social Video Service Across Multiple Clouds

Abstract: Instant social video sharing which combines the online social network and user-generated short video streaming services, has become popular in today's Internet. Cloud-based hosting of such instant social video contents has become a norm to serve the increasing users with user-generated contents. A fundamental problem of cloud-based social video sharing service is that users are located globally, who cannot be served with good service quality with a single cloud provider. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of dispersing instant social video contents to multiple cloud providers. The challenge is that inter-cloud social \emph{propagation} is indispensable with such multi-cloud social video hosting, yet such inter-cloud traffic incurs substantial operational cost. We analyze and formulate the multi-cloud hosting of an instant social video system as an optimization problem. We conduct large-scale measurement studies to show the characteristics of instant social video deployment, and demonstrate the trade-off between satisfying users with their ideal cloud providers, and reducing the inter-cloud data propagation. Our measurement insights of the social propagation allow us to propose a heuristic algorithm with acceptable complexity to solve the optimization problem, by partitioning a propagation-weighted social graph in two phases: a preference-aware initial cloud provider selection and a propagation-aware re-hosting. Our simulation experiments driven by real-world social network traces show the superiority of our design.
