The Synergistic Effects Study of C-myc and C-erbB-2 in the Carcinogenesis of Gastric Carcinoma  [PDF]

Abstract: Objective: To study the significance of c-myc and c-erbB-2 oncogene expression in gastric cancer. Methods: 81 gastric cancer specimens were detected for c-myc and c-erbB-2 oncogene amplification using non-radioactive in situ hybridization method. Results: The amplification rates for c-myc and c-erbB-2 were 67.9% and 50.6% respectively, and there were significant correlation in the amplification of these two genes (χ2 = 7.26, P < 0.01). Conclusions: The amplification of c-myc and c-erbB-2 may play an important role in gastric cancer development, and these two genes may have synergistic effect.
Can Analyst Coverage Reduce Stock Price Crash Risk?—Evidence from China  [PDF]

Abstract: Utilizing the date from 2010 to 2016 in China stock market, this paper studies the relation between analyst coverage and stock price crash risk. The result shows that security analyst coverage increases the risk of stock crash. When further dividing the analysts into star analysts and non-star analysts, the research found that the star analyst coverage can decrease stock price crash risk, and non-star analyst coverage can increase the stock price crash risk. And with the rise of star analyst ratio, the stock price crash risk will be lower.
Multiphysics Model Development and the Core Analysis for In Situ Breeding and Burning Reactor

Abstract: The in situ breeding and burning reactor (ISBBR), which makes use of the outstanding breeding capability of metallic pellet and the excellent irradiation-resistant performance of SiCf/SiC ceramic composites cladding, can approach the design purpose of ultralong cycle and ultrahigh burnup and maintain stable radial power distribution during the cycle life without refueling and shuffling. Since the characteristics of the fuel pellet and cladding are different from the traditional fuel rod of ceramic pellet and metallic cladding, the multiphysics behaviors in ISBBR are also quite different. A computer code, named TANG, to model the specific multiphysics behaviors in ISBBR has been developed. The primary calculation results provided by TANG demonstrate that ISBBR has an excellent comprehensive performance of GEN-IV and a great development potential. 1. Introduction After 60 years of development and deployment, nuclear energy has become one of the three main energy sources supporting human society. Although it happened to three major nuclear accidents during past decades and projected a big shadow on the nuclear energy development, especially the Fukushima Nuclear Event, occurred in March, 2011, significantly twisted people’s understanding to nuclear safety, but, people still could not stop 1 the prospects on nuclear energy, as the fossil energy on earth is gradually drying up and increasingly expensive, and the other renewable energy is not enough stable and reliable. By now, except for a few European countries, who claim to terminate their nuclear power projects, the main energy consumers of the world, including China and the United States, have clearly declared their positive position to their established nuclear power route, and several new projects just have been approved during the past recent years. However, it should be pointed out that the existing nuclear power technology could not support the sustainable nuclear energy development for long-term prospects. The reason is that the existing nuclear power technology is mainly based on water-cooled reactor. It is well known that the fuel utilization of water-cooled reactor is less than 1%, which means that the existing water-cooled reactors are quickly consuming the limited natural uranium resource and producing the huge volume of depleted uranium in front end and the high radioactive spent fuel in back end. Abstract: Computer is essential for improving the standard of living and promoting the national development. Generally, developed countries have devoted at least 20% of their gross domestic product (GDP) to manufacturing. In the past twenty years, Computer science and technology has become involved in many varied applications throughout the world, with multiple products and rapid market services. It has not only provided industries with new methods, new tools and new products from design, material processing to operation and management process, but also is changing the manners, thinking styles and working environments of people in the manufacturing field. This special journal issue contains select best computer related papers from the 2010 International Conference on Frontiers of Manufacturing and Design Science (ICFMD2010) that fall into the subject matter areas of manufacturing technology and design science. ICFMD 2010 will be the most comprehensive conference focused on the Manufacturing and Design Science. Artificial-Noise Alignment for Secure Multicast using Multiple Antennas

Abstract: We propose an artificial-noise alignment scheme for multicasting a common-confidential message to a group of receivers. Our scheme transmits a superposition of information and noise symbols. The noise symbols are aligned at each legitimate receiver and hence the information symbols can be decoded. In contrast, the noise symbols completely mask the information symbols at the eavesdroppers. Our proposed scheme does not require the knowledge of the eavesdropper's channel gains at the transmitter for alignment, yet it achieves the best-known lower bound on the secure degrees of freedom. Our scheme is also a natural generalization of the approach of transmitting artificial noise in the null-space of the legitimate receiver's channel, previously proposed in the literature.
Targeting Cell Signaling and Apoptotic Pathways by Luteolin: Cardioprotective Role in Rat Cardiomyocytes Following Ischemia/Reperfusion

Abstract: Myocardial ischemia often results in damaged heart structure and function, which can be restored through ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) in most cases. However, I/R can exacerbate myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI). Luteolin, a widely distributed flavonoid, a member of a group of naturally occurring polyphenolic compounds found in many fruits, vegetables and medicinal herbs, has been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-carcinogenic activities. In recent years, luteolin has been shown to play an important role in the cardioprotection of IRI. However, its role and mechanism in cardioprotection against IRI has not been clearly elucidated with respect to the apoptosis pathway. The purpose of this paper is to review luteolin’s anti-apoptotic role and mechanism following I/R in rats, and indicate luteolin as a potential candidate for preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases.
Reductive immobilization of perrhenate in soil and groundwater using starch-stabilized ZVI nanoparticles

Abstract: Perrhenate (ReO 4 ) was used as nonradioactive surrogate for the radionuclide pertechnetate (99TcO 4 ) to investigate the potential of using starch-stabilized zero valent iron (ZVI) nanoparticles for reductive immobilization of pertechnetate in soil and groundwater. Batch kinetic tests indicated that the starch-stabilized ZVI nanoparticles were able to reductively remove ~96% of perrhenate (10 mg/L) from water within 8 h. XRD analyses confirmed that ReO2 was the reduction product. A pseudo-first-order kinetic model was able to interpret the kinetic data, which gave a pseudo first order rate constant (k obs) value of 0.43 h 1 at pH 6.9 and room temperature (25°C). Increasing solution pH up to 8 progressively increased the reaction rate. However, highly alkaline pH (10) resulted in much inhibited reaction rate. Consequently, the optimal pH range was identified to be from 7 to 8. Increasing solution temperature from 15 to 45°C increased k obs from 0.38 to 0.53 h 1. The classical Arrhenius equation was able to interpret the temperature effect, which gave a low activation energy value of 7.61 kJ/mol. When the ReO 4 -loaded loess was treated with the stabilized nanoparticles suspension ([Fe]=560 mg/L), the water leachable ReO 4 was reduced by 57% and nearly all eluted Re was in the form of ReO2. This finding indicates that starch-stabilized ZVI nanoparticles are promising for facilitating in situ immobilization of ReO 4 in soil and groundwater.
