Clinical Hypnosis in Reducing Chronic Insomnia Accompanied by Rumination  [PDF]

The effect of chronic insomnia carries along a physical and psychological state of dysfunctionality felt by the individual. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of hypnotherapeutic intervention applied in the case of patients who present insomnia accompanied by rumination. We performed the study of 42 patients who underwent the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) for the psychiatric evaluation and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality at baseline, 1 month after the program and follow-up (2 months) after finalizing the program. Our findings revealed that hypnotherapeutic intervention that involves relaxation and positive self-suggestion leads to positive results among the patient who experience insomnia accompanied by rumination.
The Lower Prolactin Serum Level Is a Characteristic of Anorexia Nervosa with Depression  [PDF]

Abstract: This study was designed to explore the relationship between anorexia nervosa and depression and to evaluate the role that endocrine hormones play in anorexia nervosa with functional hypothalamic amenorrhea and comorbid depression. In this study, thyroid hormones and sex hormones were compared between 30 first-episode drug-naive female patients with anorexia nervosa with depression (AND), and 20 female patients with anorexia nervosa with no depression (ANND). There were no differences between anorexia nervosa participants with and without depression in thyroid hormones levels. Patients with AND had significantly lower prolactin serum levels; patients with AND had a median [P25, P75] prolactin level of 213.0 uIU/ml [12.1-268.2] vs. 446.6 uIU/ml [119.1-35.5] for patients with ANND. There were no differences in other sex hormones between the two groups. Our data suggested that a lower prolactin serum level is a characteristic of first-episode neuroleptic-naive patients with AND.
Development of a Multiplex Autoantibody Test for Detection of Lung Cancer

Abstract: Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths for both men and women. Early diagnosis of lung cancer has a 5-year survival rate of 48.8%, however, nearly 35% of stage I patients relapses after surgical resection, thus portending a poor prognosis. Therefore, detecting lung cancer in early stage and further identifying the high-risk patients would allow the opportunity to provide adjuvant therapy and possibly increase survival. There is considerable evidence that the immune system produces an autoantibody response to neoplastic cells. The detection of such autoantibodies has been shown to have diagnostic and prognostic value. Here we took advantage of the high-throughput Luminex technique to multiplex a total of 14 tumor-associated autoantigens to detect the autoantibody from the patients sera. The 14 antigens were expressed by in vitro transcription/translation system with HaloTag at N-terminus. The fusion proteins were then covalently immobilized onto the Luminex microspheres conjugated by the halo-link ligand, thus eliminating the protein purification procedure. Sera samples from cancer patients and healthy controls were interacted with the microsphere-antigen complex to measure the autoantibodies. We have developed a quick multiplex detection system for measuring autoantibody signature from patient sera with minimal cross-reaction. A panel of seven autoantibody biomarkers has generated an AUC>80% in distinguishing the lung cancers from healthy controls. This study is the first report by combining Luminex platform and HaloTag technology to detect humoral immune response in cancer patients. Due to the flexibility of the Luminex technology, this approach can be applied to others conditions such as infectious, neurological, and metabolic diseases. One can envision that this multiplex Luminex system as well as the panel of seven biomarkers could be used to screen the high-risk population with subsequent CT test based on the blood test result.

Abstract: 针对超低轨道卫星长时间在轨飞行的轨道维持问题,分析了超低轨道平均偏心率矢量变化特性,提出了一种超低轨道维持的控制方法。分析了J2、J3摄动以及大气阻力摄动作用下超低轨道卫星偏心率矢量的变化特性;基于能量守恒原理设计了超低轨道高度维持的控制策略;通过仿真算例验证了控制策略的有效性。结果表明:在地球非球形引力摄动、大气阻力摄动和速度脉冲作用下超低轨道平均偏心率的变化是稳定的,所设计的轨道维持方法不仅能够实现超低轨道高度维持,确保平均偏心率矢量收敛至平衡位置,且用于轨道维持的燃料消耗合理,能够满足长时间的超低轨道飞行要求。
Aiming at the orbital maintenance problem of super low altitude satellite for the long duration of the flight, the variation characteristics of the average eccentricity vector were analyzed and an orbital maintenance method was presented. Firstly, the change of average eccentricity vector characteristic of super low altitude satellite under the J2,J3 zonal terms and the atmospheric drag was analyzed. Then an orbital maintenance strategy based on energy conservation principle was proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of orbital maintenance strategy was validated by simulation examples. Simulation results show that the changes of average eccentricity is stable under the perturbation of the earth non-spherical gravity, the atmospheric drag and the impulsive maneuver, and the proposed orbital maintenance method can effectively achieve super low altitude maintenance and make the average eccentricity vector converge to equilibrium point. Besides, the fuel consumption for orbital maintenance is reasonable and the long duration flight in super low orbit can be achieved.

Abstract: Let $\mathcal D$ be a nontrivial symmetric $(v,k,\lambda)$ design, and $G$ be a subgroup of the full automorphism group of $\mathcal D$. In this paper we prove that if $G$ acts flag-transitively, point-primitively on $\mathcal D$ and $Soc(G)= PSL(2,q)$, then D has parameters $(7, 3, 1)$, $(7, 4, 2)$, $(11, 5, 2)$, $(11, 6, 3)$ or $(15, 8, 4)$.

Abstract: In this paper we complete a classification of finite linear spaces $\cS$ with line size at most 12 admitting a line-transitive point-imprimitive subgroup of automorphisms. The examples are the Desarguesian projective planes of orders $4,7, 9$ and 11, two designs on 91 points with line size 6, and 467 designs on 729 points with line size 8.
Effects of high concentration CO2 on lily growth and its two allelochemicals

Abstract: Under greenhouse condition, this paper studied the effects of different concentrations CO2 to the growth of oriental yellow poly-bud cut lily and to the two allelochemicals in lily leaves. The results showed that the optimum CO2 concentration for Pn was 600 micromol x mol(-1). There was less impact on photosynthesis when continually supplying 600-1000 micromol x mol(-1) CO2 for 45 days, probably due to the photosynthesis adaptability of new bulblets. 600 micromol x mol(-1) CO2 could increase the stem height about 0.57 grades, and also had a positive effect on the growth of color bud. 600 micromol x mol(-1) and 800 micromol x mol(-1) CO2 could markedly increase the contents of polyphenols and flavonoids in lily leaves, and there was no plant leaves withered, because the appropriate concentrations CO2 was beneficial to the Pn and to the formation and transformation of carbohydrates and allelochemicals, which increased the premunition of the plant. The contents of polyphenols and flavonoids in lily leaves reached the maximum when the concentration of CO2 was 600 micromol x mol(-1).
A Traitor Tracing Scheme Based on the RSA System

Abstract: Traitor tracing schemes constitute a very useful tool against piracy in the context of digital content broadcast. In such multi-recipient encryption schemes, the data-suppliers can reveal the identities of the subscribers that were implicated in the construction of a pirate-device that illegally receives the digital content. In this paper, a traitor tracing scheme based on the RSA system is proposed. The scheme does not rely on any trusted third party, and is $k$-collusion resistant, can provide black-box confirmability, and revoke any traitor's personal decryption key (without the limitation to threshold) without updating the personal decryption key of the remaining subscribers. And the scheme is more efficient than the ElGamal-like scheme according to complexity overload. Its security is the same as that of the RSA system.
Efficient and Secure Fingerprint Verification for Embedded Devices

Abstract: This paper describes a secure and memory-efficient embedded fingerprint verification system. It shows how a fingerprint verification module originally developed to run on a workstation can be transformed and optimized in a systematic way to run real-time on an embedded device with limited memory and computation power. A complete fingerprint recognition module is a complex application that requires in the order of 1000 M unoptimized floating-point instruction cycles. The goal is to run both the minutiae extraction and the matching engines on a small embedded processor, in our case a 50 MHz LEON-2 softcore. It does require optimization and acceleration techniques at each design step. In order to speed up the fingerprint signal processing phase, we propose acceleration techniques at the algorithm level, at the software level to reduce the execution cycle number, and at the hardware level to distribute the system work load. Thirdly, a memory trace map-based memory reduction strategy is used for lowering the system memory requirement. Lastly, at the hardware level, it requires the development of specialized coprocessors. As results of these optimizations, we achieve a 65% reduction on the execution time and a 67% reduction on the memory storage requirement for the minutiae extraction process, compared against the reference implementation. The complete operation, that is, fingerprint capture, feature extraction, and matching, can be done in real-time of less than 4 seconds
