The Accelerated Rotating Disk in a Micropolar Fluid Flow  [PDF]

Abstract:

The problem of a micropolar fluid about an accelerated disk rotating with angular velocity Ω proportional to time has been studied. By means of the usual similarity transformations, the governing equations are reduced to ordinary non-linear differential equations and then solved numerically, using SOR method and Simpson’s (1/3) rule for s ≥ 0, where s is non-dimensional parameter which measures unsteadiness. The calculations have been carried out using three different grid sizes to check the accuracy of the results. The results have been improved by using Richardson’s extrapolation.

Abstract: The rotationally symmetric flow of a micropolar fluid in the presence of an infinite rotating disk has been studied numerically. The equations of motion are reduced to a system of ordinary differential equations, which in turn are solved numerically using SOR method and Simpson’s (1/3) rule. The results are calculated for different values of the parameter s (the ratio of angular velocities of disc and fluid) and the suction parameter a. Moreover, three different sets of the values of non-dimensional material constants related to micropolar behavior of the fluid have been chosen arbitrarily. The calculations have been carried out using three different grid sizes to check the accuracy of the results. The research concludes that the micropolar fluids flow resembles with that of Newtonian fluids when the material constants become close to zero. The comparison of these results is presented for possible values of the parameter s.

Abstract: Mimusops elengi (Maulsari) is a medicinal plant (showing; antioxidant, antimycotic, antidiabetic, analgesic activity, etc.). Conventional UV-visible spectrophotometric technique in the presence of CTAB and transmission electron microscopic technique both in the presence and absence of CTAB were used to determine the morphology of silver nanoplates (AgNP) using Mimusops elengi (Maulsari) aqueous leaves extract for the first time. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) has no significant effect on the shape of the spectra and position of SPR bands. Effects of various CTAB were also discussed in the green extra-cellular synthesis of AgNP using Mimusops elengi (Maulsari) leaves extract.

Abstract: The problem of a disk rotating in a viscous fluid has been investigated. The disk is accelerated with angular velocity proportional to time. Employing suitable similarity transformations the governing partial differential equations are transformed in to ordinary differential form. The resulting equations are solved numerically using SOR method and Simpson’s (1/3) rule. The results have been improved by using Richardson’s extrapolation. The effect of the non-dimensional parameter s which measures unsteadiness is observed on velocity components, skin friction coefficient and torque of the disk.

Abstract:

In the paper [1], authors have suggested and analyzed a predictor-corrector Halley method for solving nonlinear equations. In this paper, we modified this method by using the finite difference scheme, which had a quantic convergence. We have compared this modified Halley method with some other iterative methods of ninth order, which shows that this new proposed method is a robust one. Some examples are given to illustrate the efficiency and the performance of this new method.

Abstract: Stents deployed in the carotid arteries cause significant geometric changes in the vessels, influencing the flexibility and torsioncharacteristics of the vessels, which are aggravated by the high degree of mobility in this area of the body. The influence of these physical characteristics on carotid blood flow could influence the long term performance of the deployed stents. Objectives: To evaluate the geometric changes in the carotid arteries after deployment of self expanding nitinol stents. Settings: AFIC-NIHD. Period: November 2003 to August 2008. Material & methods: 45 cases of carotid artery stenting (CAS) done. We selected cases where the stenting to the internal carotid artery (ICA) had been done across the bifurcation of the common carotid artery (CCA) with self expanding nitinol stents, and when DICOM videos that had pre and post stenting images in the same imaging projection were available for analysis. Based on the inclusion criteria 21 videos were selected and deemed fit for taking measurements. The measurement system proposed by Berkefeld et al which involved the measurement of the CCA-ICA (common carotid artery –internal carotid artery) angle and ICA-offset was used. These variables were measured using onscreen measuring software which can measure linear distances and angles after appropriate calibration for each image. Results: We did not find any significant changes in the ICA-offset; significant changes in the CCA-ICA angle were noted.

Abstract: In fact, information systems are the foundation of new productivity sources, medical organizational forms, and erection of a global economy. IoT based healthcare systems play a significant role in ICT and have contribution in growth of medical information systems, which are underpinning of recent medical and economic development strategies. However, to take advantages of IoT, it is essential that medical enterprises and community should trust the IoT systems in terms of performance, security, privacy, reliability and return-on-investment, which are open challenges of current IoT systems. For heightening of healthcare system; tracking, tracing and monitoring of patients and medical objects are more essential. But due to the inadequate healthcare situation, medical environment, medical technologies and the unique requirements of some healthcare applications, the obtainable tools cannot meet them accurately. The tracking, tracing and monitoring of patients and healthcare actors activities in healthcare system are challenging research directions for IoT researchers. State-of-the-art IoT based healthcare system should be developed which ensure the safety of patients and other healthcare activities. With this manuscript, we elaborate the essential role of IoT in healthcare systems; immense prospects of Internet of things in healthcare systems; extensive aspect of the use of IoT is dissimilar among different healthcare components and finally the participation of IoT between the useful research and present realistic applications. IoT and few other modern technologies are still in underpinning stage; mainly in the healthcare system.

Abstract:

The rural areas of Pakistan are well woven in the Biradari system which is also a social status carrier and an ethic attachment. The Biradari system is very much operational and playing a well participatory role in almost all kinds of community and local matters and issues ranging from very minor conflicts to big social disputes. The prime focus of the study was to explore the role of Biradari and community opinion regarding its respective role as Panchayat. The study was conducted in village Saroki of District Gujranwala where structured interview guide and participant observation were used as the key tools to explore the correlation of especially Biradari system with Panchayat. The research unveiled the role of Biradari by exploring the two sides of the pictures, including positive functions of Biradari and perception of communities about their negative role with a special focus on dispute management, resolving issues through traditional methods.

Abstract:

Numerical solutions are obtained for non-steady, incompressible fluid flow between two parallel disks which at time t are separated by a distance H(1-αt)1/2 and a magnetic field proportional to B0(1-αt) -1/2 is applied perpendicular to the disks where H denotes a representative length, BO denotes a representative magnetic field and α-1 denotes a representative time. Similarity transformations are used to convert the governing partial differential equations of motion in to ordinary differential form. The resulting ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using SOR method, Richardson extrapolation and Simpson’s (1/3) Rule. Our numerical scheme is straightforward, efficient and easy to program.
