Abstract: the school inclusion of people with educational needs is dominant proposition in special education and education in general, in the last decades, addressing programs and educational and rehabilitation politics in several countries, including brazil. it demands the transformation of school, proposing the students' insertion with any needs in the regular school, letting to the schools the adaptation to the students' characteristics, what makes the rupture to the traditional model of teaching and is the problem starting. the institutions of basic school have been having difficulties in the school inclusion, starting in the diagnosis of the learning disabilities, finishing in the little professional training to assist pedagogically and psychologically that population. trying to contribute in this basic aspect of the inclusive process - the child's diagnosis with special educational needs -, the dynamic assessment is a complementary modality to the traditional evaluation of cognitive and linguistic abilities. this includes the examiner's help during the process, after an initial phase without help, being common in research works the procedure test-aided-retest, in that the subject works as his own control. this evaluation modality of the cognitive and linguistic processing favors the acting and it comes as more prescriptive to the curriculum adaptation. especially used in the special education, this is still a little used evaluation proposal in brazil, where there are research papers since the 90s last century.
Cancer infantil: uma proposta de avalia??o as estratégias de enfrentamento da hospitaliza??o

Abstract: in order to diminish the negative effects of hospitalization, the child who has cancer needs to adapt herself/himself by using adequate coping strategies. focused on the design of an assessment tool for the hospitalization coping strategies, 28 children (6 to 12) registered on the oncology service from a public hospital in vitória, espírito santo, were submitted to the following instruments: coping hospitalization assessment instrument, with 41 pictures, divided by sets: set a: facing hospitalization and set b: playing in the hospital. the instrument adequacy results have shown a percentage of 88.4% e 94.6% of adequacy in the pictures from set a and set b, respectively. the instrument responses results have revealed a larger tendency to the optimistic pattern of coping answers (play, talk, take medicine and pray), than to the non-optimistic (hide, fight, blame yourself, blackmail). the instrument was adequate to the psychological comprehension and attendance for the hospitalized children.

Abstract: the inclusion of bearers of deficiencies in schools has been a guiding and dominating proposal in special education, including in brazil, and has directed rehabilitation and educational programs and policies. the aim of this study was to describe and to analyze the interaction among three students with mental retardation (mr) and their peers. the study was carried out with first-grade students of three core municipal schools of the city of vitória, es, brazil, who had classmates who were bearers of mr. all 80 students were given a sociometric test containing questions on three choices and rejections of classmates with whom to play and to accomplish classroom tasks. fifteen observation sessions were recorded, five for each target children (plus an extra one for one of the children), during an entire month. the results showed that students who have special education needs are less frequently accepted and more frequently rejected than their peers in regular classrooms. it was noted that subjects spent most of their time alone, showing difficulties in initiating, maintaining and finalizing contacts with their classmates.

Abstract: the aim of this study was to identify and analyze possible relationship between learning disabilities and dental self-care. sixty third and fourth grades students from a public elementary school were divided in two groups: with (group 1) and without (group 2) learning disabilities. they were individually tested, went on the verification of dental biofilm before and after tooth brushing, and interviewed about dental self-care. the data were submitted to a statistical treatment: the content analysis of the verbal report and the functional analysis of tooth brushing behavior. there were significant differences between the groups - about time for brushing the teeth, which was minor for the students of group 1. these students also have less self-rules to control tooth brushing, less precise information about cavities and also they are more punished by their parents for avoiding brushing their teeth. interdisciplinary studies about psychology and dentistry are convenient for developing more efficacious programs in oral health.
Estratégias de enfrentamento da hospitaliza??o em crian?as avaliadas por instrumento informatizado

Abstract: child hospitalization may cause psychological problems, such as depression and stress. thus, it is important to identify the coping strategies utilized by children. this research has analyzed hospitalization coping strategies by 28 hospitalized children around 5 to 20 days in a public hospital in brazil southeast. their mothers answered the child behavior checklist (cbcl 6-18 years old) in addition to data from children's daily life. these children answered, individually, the computer assessment instrument of coping to hospitalization (aehcomp), made of 20 facilitating and non-facilitating scenes, which allow identify 13 coping strategies. aehcomp recorded more facilitating answers to hospitalization (58.8%). among 10 identified coping strategies, rumination (22%) and distraction (15.5%) have occurred the most times. there were no correlations between behavior problems prior to the hospitalization and non-facilitating behaviors, but these were correlated inversely to age and directly to daily life changes. this evaluation can provide resources for preventive interventions in emotional damages caused by hospitalization.

Abstract: the accomplishment of prevention in public health requires a systematized knowledge for the proposition of a program and its evaluation. when it comes to the prevention of mental deficiency, which afflicts around 10% of the population, little is known in brazil. by adopting a methodology for cataloging md preventive actions in hospitals and health units, with pregnant women and newborns, it was possible to describe and analyze the actions of the public health system in greater vitória/es, indicating the levels of prevention which were most covered. preventive actions (pa) of five large public hospitals, nine health units and six health offices, from 1996 to 1997 were studied. data from 25 interviews show that these places made 51.5% of the 433 possible pa (57.4% of primary prevention and 45.5% of the secondary). along with the particularization of the action of each municipality and place researched, the obtained data was useful for analyses and possible changes in maternal-infantile health indicators.

Abstract: this paper discusses the results of a research aimed at the investigation of social representations of female infertility, among women of different social layers. we interviewed 180 women between 18 and 40 years old, half of them living in low-income neighborhoods and the other half in middle-class neighborhoods. each group was divided into 3 subgroups: a) 30 married women, with at least one biological child; b) 30 women married for at least a year, without children; c) 30 single women, without children. for data collection, the technique of free association was utilized, the generating expression being "woman who can't have children". specific questions on the subject of interest were also asked. as main elements of the representational field, data showed sadness, incompleteness, frustration, pressure from others, loneliness, inferiority, adoption, search for solutions and not a problem, all of which reaffirmed the permanence of the infertility concept as a stigmatizing condition for women.

Abstract: the assessment of coping strategies is an important resource for the development of intervention techniques to minimize the psychological impact of childhood cancer. behavioral effects of a recreational psychological intervention program were evaluated among 12 children with cancer, aged from 7 to 12 years old and hospitalized in a public pediatric hospital. the computer assessment instrument of coping to hospitalization (aehcomp) was used with two groups: g1, submitted to the recreational psychological intervention focused on coping, and g2, submitted to the traditional free play. the between-groups comparison demonstrated no significant difference for facilitating and non-facilitating behaviors during the pre and the posttest. the intra-group comparison showed a significant decrease in non-facilitating behaviors during the post-test, suggesting a possible positive effect of the recreational intervention program focused on coping.

Abstract: diabetes mellitus type 1 is a chronic disease that rates 2/1000 adolescents that may have their daily life changed. in order to describe and analyse how these adolescents organize their daily activities and how they face the fact of having a chronic disease, 15 teenagers who lived in vitoria, es, and used to enroll in public health programs for diabetic were interviewed. they also answered the mac, which stands for "daily activities map". two hundred twenty four students from public schools, who weren't diabetic bearers, filled this form. quantitative analyses of mac and content analyse of interviews were done. results of the forms showed that adolescents, in general, do more activities aiming themselves, and they've done it at home, like watching tv. diabetic adolescents reported that they have some problems like going to doctor's appointment and miss the school classes, but they don't consider having their daily life modified. results also pointed that there is no expressive differences between the two groups.
Brincar no hospital: cancer infantil e avalia??o doenfrentamento da hospitaliza??o

Abstract: hospitalization may harm the development of the child with cancer. in order to deal with this situation, playing has worked as a coping strategy. analizing the importance of playing in the hospital, this research has evaluated the coping strategies in hospitalization based upon 28 children who testified. these children ranged from 6 to 12 years old and they were signed up at the oncology ward of a public hospital in vitória, es. an instrument of assessment of coping with hospitalization was proposed: assessment instrument of coping with hospitalization, with 41 illustrative sketch boards split in sets: a - coping with hospitalization and b - playing in the hospital. the results indicated coping responses which were a lot more positive (playing, reading comics, praying) than negative ones (hiding, feeling guilty, emotional blackmailing). playing was 78,6% of the answers related to what the hospitalized child would like to do, justified by its role as a learning tool. the instrument proved to be appropriate to the comprehension and psychological care during hospitalization.
