Abstract: there are several problems related to the realization of a brazilian fundamental vertical network (bfvn) linked to a global height system (ghs). difficulties come from different factors like: pre-analysis and integration of field data lines; choice nodes and loops from spirit leveling, aiming at determining level differences - these steps are still developed in an old fashioned way based on operator intervention and decision in each step; lack of gravity information associated to leveling; vertical datum inconsistent with a ghs. taking into account these aspects and aiming at overcoming the problem related to the choice and computation of leveling loops of the network to be adjusted it was developed a geographic information system (gis) was developed as a tool for computation and decision. the focus is the optimal treatment of the referred steps. the gis allows nodes identification, as well as the choice of lines, loops and the best network configuration; the level differences with integration of gravity information are allowed. the output can be done by geopotential numbers. this gis seems to be an adequate tool for integration of the bfvn to one ghs.

Boletim de Ciências Geodésicas , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-21702012000200003
Abstract: the evaluation of the official geoid model of brazil, mapgeo2010, shows that the lowest model resolutions are in the states of maranh?o and piauí with discrepancies ranging from -1 to +1 m in about 500 km. just for these regions, it is necessary an accurate geoid model in view of the limitations of existing geodetic information. in view of the problem evidenced in the highlighted region we carried out the evaluation of the geoid heights derived from some global geopotential models (ggms). data from the brazilian geodetic system (bgs) comprising bench marks of brazilian fundamental altimetric network (rafb) were gps ellipsoidal heights were determined (eg-gps/niv). the employed ggms came from satellite-only (from grace and goce missions) and the combined ggms egm2008 developed up to the degrees, 360, 720 and 2190 and eigen_05c in the degree and order 360, both with satellite data from grace and lageos missions, as well as altimetry and gravimetry from several data bases. for the study, 47 geodetic stations (eg-gps/niv) of brazilian institute of geography and statistics (ibge) were selected and distributed in the study area comprised among longitude -47,5o ≤ λ ≤ -41o and latitude -10o ≤ φ ≤ -3o. for each station it was calculated the value of the geoid height from the various ggms. based on the analysis presented it follows that there are global models with good fit in the region of studies.

Abstract: chile is a natural laboratory for studies of geodynamics due to of the broad and varied of tectonic events. a notable case is the deformation produced from the seismic event of magnitude mw 8,8, named earthquake the maule. the epicenter was located 60 km to south of constitucion, a region that had shown considerable velocities recorded by gnss. several studies related to the geophysical signal generated by the earthquake have been made, particularly those explored by gnss and insar, and one based on satellite gravimetry. however, these studies have presented difficulties concerning time series analysis. most of the series of gnss positioning have been discontinued by the event and therefore there are only series either before or after the event. this study presents an independent alternative for the quantification of vertical deformation of the crust based on variations of the potential anomalous provided by stokes coefficients of the monthly grace mission. differences in height anomaly from september 2009 to may 2011, obtained by the temporal variation of the stokes coefficients regarded a static solution were calculated for four stations (llfn, antc, conz, valp). the stokes coefficients were used in an expansion up to degree and order 45. the hydrologic signal was removed by means of ewt (equivalent water thickness) after a gaussian smoothing filter of 600 kmwas applied. the results obtained after filtering are higly consistent to those reported by gnss in other investigations.

Boletim de Ciências Geodésicas , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1982-21702011000200005
Abstract: because of the impossibility of gravimetric observations on all over the leveled lines, the knowledge of the gravity quantities is still a problem when the subject is, for example, the computation of geopotential numbers. local covariance functions (lcf) were generated from gravity values of brazilian institute of geography and statistics that were digitized and added to geodetic reference systems and satellite altimetry laboratory (laras) geodetic database. this base contains gravimetric and altimetric points provided by ign (argentina) too. the lcfs were developed for gravity bouguer anomalies to points which heights were available and the gravity values were recovered. these points are located on the brazil-argentina's border. studies with polynomial function and fourier function were tested with ten per cent of points of database reserved to testing and the polynomial fourth degree function showed the best results (about 1 mgal).

Abstract: During the last four years, internet access in Brazil has practically doubled in reach due to crucial factorsas the increase in sales of computers, the overall fall of prices related to tools and services in the fields of dataprocessing and telecommunications, the fast advance in technology and governmental policies for digital inclusion.New times, new spaces. Social media is a consolidated phenomenon in Brazil and worldwide. Companies have to adaptto this reality, allowing then corporations to be closer to their target-clients. Big companies as P o de A úcar, Vivo,Telefonica and Santander are already using social media with corporate content. Orkut, Facebook, Twitter are nolonger environments restricted to entertainment. They now acquire responsibility as a support for important exchange ofinformation, where it is possible to establish contact with customers and accept suggestions, answer questions, solveproblems, as well as publicize new Companies goals and products. Network communication is a contemporary strategy, and professionals who are part of this new paradigm tend to turn business into more attractive, dynamic and interactive.

Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0066-782X2012005000008
Abstract: background: the prevalence of pulmonary embolism (pe) has not been reported in patients hospitalized due to classical findings of decompensated heart failure (hf). objective: to describe the prevalence of pe and to assess the diagnostic accuracy of the wells and geneva scores in patients hospitalized due to hf. methods: patients hospitalized primarily due to hf underwent systematic ventilation-perfusion lung scan, and pe was defined by a result of high probability. aiming at interpreting, low clinical probability of pe was defined as prevalence < 5%, according to the literature. when calculating the sample size, 49 patients were required to provide a 95% confidence interval with ±10% accuracy, estimating an a priori prevalence of 15%. results: of 51 patients studied, six had a high probability of pe on lung scan, resulting in 12% prevalence (95% ci = 5% - 23%). the wells and geneva scores had an area under the roc curve of 0.53 (95% ci = 0.27 - 0.80; p = 0.80) and 0.43 (95% ci = 0.13 - 0.73; p = 0.56), respectively, indicating lack of accuracy for the diagnosis of pe. alternatively, variables related to hf showed a tendency towards association with pe, and an exploratory model formed by that type of variable showed diagnostic accuracy for pe (roc = 0.81; 95% ci = 0.66 - 0.96; p = 0.01). conclusion: (1) despite the lack of primary suspicion, patients admitted with hf have intermediate clinical probability of concomitant pe; (2) the scores usually used to estimate the clinical probability of pe do not apply to the population with hf, and future predictive models should consider variables related to that syndrome.
