Abstract: Os crisopídeos ocorrem em diversos agroecossistemas e alimentam-se de diversos artrópodes-praga e,portanto podem ser utilizados como agentes em programas de controle biológico de pragas agrícolas. O sucesso doscrisopídeos pode estar relacionado a sua capacidade de sobrevivência e reprodu o em campo. Esta característicapode ser alterada por diversos fatores, inclusive a temperatura. Objetivou-se com este estudo verificar se astemperaturas de cria o das fases imaturas de Chrysoperla externa (Hagen, 1861) podem influenciar a suacapacidade reprodutiva e a longevidade dos adultos. As fases imaturas foram criadas em quatro ambientes de cria o,três com temperaturas constantes de 19, 25 e 31°C e outro ambiente em que houve flutua o dos fatores abióticos.Os adultos obtidos foram mantidos em salas climatizadas à 25oC para avalia o da capacidade reprodutiva e dalongevidade. Os dados obtidos n o diferiram significativamente entre os ambientes onde as fases imaturas foramcriadas. Conclui-se que a capacidade reprodutiva e a longevidade n o ser o alteradas quando as fases jovens foremcriadas em temperaturas diferentes.The green lacewings occur in many agroecosystems and eat a lot of pests, so they can be used inbiological control programs for agricultural pests. The success of them is related with their capacity of living in thiskind of environment and reproduce. This attribute can be influenced for many factors, such as temperature. Thepurpose of this study was to check if different rearing temperatures of immature stages of Chrysoperla externa(Hagen, 1861) can influence their reproductive capacity and longevity. The immature stages were reared in fourenvironments, three of them with constants temperatures of 19, 25 and 31oC and in the fourth environment theabiotic factors were not controlled. The adults obtained of this rearing were maintained at 25oC for evaluation ofreproductive capacity and longevity. The results obtained didn′t differ significantly among the environments wherethe immature stages were kept. It can be concluded that the reproductive capacity and longevity will not influencedwhen the immature stages were reared in different temperatures.

Abstract: the green lacewings are important predators and are found in several agroecosystems. the temperature is one of the decisive factors for the development of insects, and there is an acceptable variation gradient for each species. therefore, the purpose of this study was not only to check the influence of different temperatures on the embryonic and post-embryonic development of chrysoperla raimundoi, as well as check the consequences in the different generations. the immature stages were reared at four different environmental conditions, three of them with constant temperatures (19,0, 25,0 e 31,0oc) and the fourth rearing place was external to the laboratory without control of the abiotic factors. the duration of the embryonic period, first, second and third larval instar, pupal stage, and from egg to adult were evaluated; also the survival rate of each instar and stage and the emergence rate were calculated. the embryonic and post embryonic development differed between the generations f2 and f4. also, the influence of different temperatures for the generation f2 among individuals created at 31,0oc showed reduction on the development rate regarding the other two environments. it was possible to observe that the generation f4 has its development influenced by different temperatures, and the 19,0oc temperature prolonged its development.
Nematoides anisaquídeos e cestoides Trypanorhyncha de importancia em saúde pública em Aluterus monoceros (Linnaeus, 1758) no Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil

Abstract: one hundred specimens of unicorn leatherjacket, aluterus monoceros purchased from markets of municipalities of niterói and rio de janeiro from may to august 2006. the fishes were measured, necropsied, fileted and analysed their organs. sixteen fishes were parasitized by nematode anisakidae: anisakis spp. and contracaecum sp. with respectively, 1 and 16% of prevalence, 2 and 3.31 of mean intensity, and 0.02 and 0.53 of mean abundance. two larvae of anisakis sp. were found in mesentery of one fish and contracaecum sp. was found in liver and mesentery with 1 to 9 specimens of range of infection. fifty-one fishes were parasitized on the liver and mesentery by metacestodes of trypanorhyncha. the collected species were floriceps saccatus and callitetrarhynchus speciosus with respectively, 45 and 6% of prevalence, 3.17 and 2.83 of mean intensity, and 1.43 and 0.06 of mean abundance, the range of infection by f. saccatus was 1 to 20 and by c. speciosus was 1 to 5. anisakis sp. and these two species of trypanothyncha were reported in a. monoceros for the first time.

Abstract: Foi registrada prevalência de 86,4% e intensidade média de infec o de 9,1 de Hepatoxylon trichiuri em espécimes de Prionance glauca, capturados do litoral do estado do Rio Grande do Sul e prevalência de 4,9% e a intensidade de infec o de 1,0 em espécimes de Coryphaena hippurus, coletados de um mercado de peixes do estado do Rio de Janeiro. Este foi o primeiro registro de H. trichiuri em P. glauca no Brasil. The prevalence was 86.4 % and mean intensity of infection was 9.1 of Hepatoxylon trichiuri of Prionace glauca, captured of the coastal waters of state of Rio Grande do Sul, and the prevalence was 4.9% and intensity of infection was 1.0 of Coryphaena hippurus, collected from a fish market of state of Rio de Janeiro. Hepatoxylon trichiuri was recorded by the first time of Prionace glauca in Brazil.

Abstract: Specimens of elasmobranch fishes, captured in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina, of the southern coast off Brazil, represented by three families, four genera, and four species, were parasitized with otobothrioid trypanorhynch cestodes: Heptranchias perlo (Bonnaterre, 1788), Squalus sp. and Carcharhinus signatus (Poey, 1868) were parasitized with Progrillotia dollfusi Carvajal & Rego,1987; Prionace glauca (Linnaeus, 1758) with Molicola horridus (Goodsir, 1841) Dollfus, 1942. Details of internal morphology and/or scolex and/or proglottids surface ultrastructure, that expanded the description of M. horridus, through observations with lightfield, and/or scanning eletronic microscopy, are provided. The known geographical distribution for the species M. horridus is enlarged. P. dollfusi is reported for the first time in elasmobranchs.

Abstract: A associa o de paralisia diafragmática bilateral e paralisia da cintura escapular é uma complica o rara após corre o de aneurisma de aorta ascendente. Esta associa o leva à uma forma grave de insuficiência respiratória cujo sucesso do desmame da ventila o mecanica é dependente da capacidade da musculatura respiratória remanescente em compensar o trabalho respiratório excedente. Fisioterapia respiratória intensiva com treinamento da musculatura, corre o dos distúrbios metabólicos, tratamento das infec es respiratórias associadas à ventila o mecanica e otimiza o do suporte nutricional foram fundamentais para o sucesso do desmame.

Abstract: In a greenhouse study, the effect of increasing doses of dry sewage sludge (class A), equivalent to 0 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, and 80 mg of N dm-3 of soil, from the Franca sewage treatment plant (S o Paulo State), was compared to the mineral nitrogen fertilization (40 kg urea ha-1). The experiment was conducted in 2005, using pots with 5 kg of an Oxisol, evaluating the soil fertility, nutrition of Brachiaria decumbens, and dehydrogenase activity. The experimental design was a completely randomized block, with four replications. The application of higher doses of sewage sludge increased the level of soil P by approximately 70%. The increased activity of dehydrogenase in soil showed significant correlation with increasing doses of sludge applied to soil. Only the highest dose of applied sludge (80 mg N dm-3 of soil) increased the dry weight shoot production, while all the doses of sludge applied to soil increased the N leaf content on Brachiaria decumbens. Abstract: new records for helminth species recovered from elasmobranch fishes in brazil are established. digenean and acanthocephalan parasites of elasmobranch fishes are reported from the southern coast of brazil: otodistomum veliporum (creplin, 1837) stafford, 1904 (digenea: azygiidae) in the stomach and spiral valve of dipturus trachydermus and in the spiral valve of squatina sp. cystacanths and juveniles of the acanthocephalans corynosoma australe johnston, 1937 and corynosoma sp., in the spiral valve of squatina sp., galeorhinus galeus and hexanchus griseus and in the stomach of squalus megalops; a juvenile of gorgorhynchus sp., in the spiral valve of sphyrna zygaena. dipturus trachydermus and squatina sp. are new host records for o. veliporum. digeneans and acanthocephalans are reported for the first time parasitizing elasmobranch fishes in brazil.

Abstract: new records for nematode species recovered from elasmobranch fishes in brazil are established and new systematical arrangements proposed. parascarophis sphyrnae campana-rouget, 1955 from the spiral valve of sphyrna zygaena is referred for the first time in south america as a new host record. procamallanus (s.) pereirai annereaux, 1946, from the spiral valve of raja castelnaui is reported parasitizing an elasmobranch host. nematode larvae of the genera anisakis, contracaecum, pseudoterranova and raphidascaris are listed from the stomach and spiral valves of several hosts. anisakidae larvae previously referred in brazil in the genus phocanema should be reallocated in pseudoterranova. nematodes of the genera anisakis, contracaecum, pseudoterranova and raphidascaris are reported for the first time parasitizing elasmobranchs in brazil.
