Particles Removal from a Moving Tube by Blowing Systems: A CFD Analysis  [PDF]
Giovanni Lombardi, Rubens Curatola
Engineering (ENG) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2013.53037

The use of an air jet to clean the products during the manufacturing is usual in an industrial environment. In this paper the problem of the removal, from the inner of the tube, of the waste arising from the cutting operation by means of an air blowing system is analysed. In order to obtain indications about the real importance of the involved parameters and their effects, a numerical procedure, based on CFD analysis trough the code STAR CCM+, has been settled. The effects of the different parameters were highlighted. The results are congruent with the experience, indicating that the adopted solution is not suitable for the small tubes. Therefore, a different blowing solution is investigated, with the object to improve the cleaning capabilities of the system. The results for the new blowing solution provide a significant improvement of the capability to remove the waste arising from the cutting operation can be expected.

à sombra de Charles de Gaulle: uma diplomacia carismática e intransferível. A política externa do governo Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010)
Ricupero, Rubens;
Novos Estudos - CEBRAP , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-33002010000200003
Abstract: the article analysis lula's foreign policy. in the one hand, both political and economic stabilization in course since the end of the military government ("redemocratiza??o") have naturally intensified brazil's role as a global player. in the other hand, even though his government has been able to take advantage of this condition, lula's charismatic and ideological approach to foreign policy could be a risk for the impersonal and institutional qualities that characterizes international relations.
A resiliência do Estado Nacional diante da globaliza??o
Ricupero, Rubens;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142008000100009
Abstract: notwithstanding recent studies about the alleged weakening of some basic functions of nation-states on account of globalization, national states have been showing remarkable resiliency, that is, flexibility and adaptability to change. starting from the perspective of international relations, the article undertakes a review of contemporary world?s political geography, pointing out some of the reasons that explain the creation, during the xxth century, of 150 out of a total number of 200 existing national states. it analyses the ambivalent nature of some of the forces for change, not always towards national state weakening, and devotes special attention to the european union, the only example of a still unfinished construction of a post-national configuration.
A revolu??o russa e o sistema internacional
Ricupero, Rubens;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64452008000300004
Abstract: out of henry kissinger's analysis about the subject, it is conceivable, though rare in practice, to distinguish the internal revolutionary intensity of a country's political rule from the way it finds a room in the international system - depending, of course, on the level of flexibility that the system itself affords to the revolutionary element. that is why kissinger gives nazi germany as an instance of "revolutionary external policy", and not revolutionary russia. that contradicts the perception of their own protagonists and heirs as well as the contemporary observers, and their successors, of the european parlamentary democracies and the united states - a view resilient enough to persist along all the cold war era. so that it is worthwhile to explore the historical reasons of the break between perception and reality.
Museos: entre identidades cristalizadas y mercados transnacionales
Bayardo, Rubens;
Anais do Museu Paulista: História e Cultura Material , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-47142005000200009
Abstract: this article approaches, firstly, the problematic of the new coordinates implied in transnationalisation, and the place occupied by culture in this process. then, the recent development of the argentinean cultural sector and the changes undergone by the museum institution are characterised, considering patrimony constitution with regards to cultural policies and cultural management. the focus is then cast on the case of the museo de arte popular josé hernández, and a specific activity is analysed, that of the exposición y feria artesanal cultural de los pueblos originarios. this exhibition is part of a programme of indigenous handcraft and artisans valorisation, which development makes evident the conflicts for the definition and appropriation of patrimony, and for the visibility and dignified recognition of the social identity of its producers within the context of transnationalisation. this allows for the study of the difficulties experienced in the fulfilling of the aims proposed by the museum, when the renovation of the institution and of its management practices are not accompanied by transversal public cultural policies, which would guide and potentialise the work in the intended directions.

O mundo após o 11 de setembro: a perda da inocência
Ricupero, Rubens;
Tempo Social , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-20702003000200002
Abstract: after the illusions that followed the fall of the berlin wall were dispelled and the perplexity with the possible immediate consequences of the american 9/11 counterattack was over, what followed was an increase in the power of the state, a unilateral use of this power, an incitement to the disagreements among world forces, a shrinking from the globalization tendency and a reversal of the gains produced by "the dividends of peace". all this brought about the resurgence of a political economic nationalism manifested by the assertion of state over market power, with a prevalence of political strategy over the economy and commerce. even the "multilateralism" proffered by a few heads of state does not comprise an authentic democratization of international relations. all that is left for brazil to do is to struggle for a reform of the architecture of international finances and of the multilateral commerce system, mobilizing nations with similar interests so that, together, they can explore the spaces left open by the limitations on american power and that of the other industrialized countries, in order to achieve reciprocal and generous cooperation inspired in the self-interest of each nation, on the conscience that we are interdependent. the solution to the predicament of development and the traps of poverty will not come from the (re)building of physical, political, judicial, economic and, mainly, mental walls.
