Abstract: this study aimed at investigating the influence of social network on adolescent coping with chronic conditions. qualitative research whose subjects were hospitalized adolescents who had a diagnosis of chronic disease for at least one year. data were collected through semi-structured interview and depositions were submitted to thematical analyses. this research highlights that the chronic condition in adolescence brings substantial effects on their lives. friends, teachers and health professionals are part of the social network. to promote autonomy it is necessary to include adolescents in care planning and to have a social network that supports them in various demands in different stages of illness.

Abstract: El objetivo del presente artículo es comprender el significado de la enfermedad crónica para los ni os en edad escolar. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa, exploratoria y descriptiva, desarrollada en la Clínica Pediátrica de un Hospital Universitario. Los participantes fueron siete ni os con enfermedades crónicas, de siete a doce a os de edad. Los datos se recolectaron a través de entrevista semi-estructurada, según los principios del análisis temático. Los resultados revelaron que los ni os sienten la enfermedad crónica como algo que impone limitaciones y dificultades en su vida diaria. Hubo informes de ni os que mostraron comprensión de la enfermedad como algo normal, demostrando que no saben cómo vivir sin la enfermedad. La enfermedad crónica lleva al ni o a esforzarse por tratar de comprender la situación y cooperar con el tratamiento, y puede promover el desarrollo de sentimientos, tales como: miedo, vergüenza, dolor y preguntas sobre el pasado, presente y futuro.
Reflections about legislation and public policies regarding to adolescent health

Abstract: Objective: to bring thoughts about public policies and legislation regarding adolescent health. Methodology: narrative literature review, built by bibliographical and documentarian research. We searched in LILACS, SciELO, BDENF and ADOLEC bases, from 2005 to 2009. The descriptors used: adolescent, public policy, health policy, adolescent health. The sample was composed of eleven articles and nine documents. Results: in 1985, WHO announced the international year of youth and Brazil was signatory, inferring in a national policy reorientation. Since then, there has been changes that influenced positively the construction of a governmental policy for health for teenagers. Its highlights were: promulgation of the Federal Constitution in 1988, creation of adolescent health program in 1989, institution of The Statute of Children and Adolescents in 1990. Even with rights established along this documents, essential to subside a qualified assistance to hospitalized adolescents, we observed that such rights are frequently violated or poorly respected. Conclusion: it′s believed that the practice of health regulations will be held if health professionals be aware of then, encouraging to demand its execution by the health institutions.

Abstract: the objective of this qualitative study was to identify the knowledge from the family about the chronic condition in childhood, as well as specific care to be given in their home. the data was collected at the pediatric clinic of the lauro wanderley university hospital in brazil, involving seven care takers of children diagnosed with a chronic disease between january and april of 2008. the collection technique was the semi-structured interview. data interpretation followed the thematic analysis method. the results reveal that the information given to the family has been given in a very subtle way and the mothers feel difficulties in learning the orientations, given the technical and specific medical vocabulary. this impedes the development of autonomy in their administration of care for the child who has a chronic disease. mothers' knowledge about their child's disease is not enough for the development of home care. the health team needs to interact with the family, creating the domino effect towards a process of autonomous home care.

Abstract: this study aimed to better understand the meaning of chronic disease for school-age children. it involves qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory research. the field-research was performed in a pediatric clinic of a university hospital in brazil. seven pediatric inpatients in the aforementioned institution with chronic illness, aged seven to twelve years of age participated in the study. the data was collected via semi-structured interviews and followed thematic interpretation principles. the results showed that these children experience chronic disease as something which imposes limitations and difficulties on their daily lives. however, there have been reports of children showing the understanding of disease as something normal, evidencing that they don't know what it is to live without experiencing the illness. the chronic illness leads the child to try to understand the situation and to cooperate with the treatment. it may promote the development of onerous feelings like fear, shame, sadness, and doubts concerning the past, present, and future.

Abstract: Investigación cualitativa que tuvo como objetivo identificar el conocimiento de la familia acerca de la patología crónica en la infancia y de los cuidados específicos que deben ser realizados en el domicilio. Los datos fueron recolectados en la clínica pediátrica del Hospital Universitario Lauro Wanderley con siete acompa antes de los ni os con diagnóstico de enfermedad crónica, entre enero y abril de 2008. La técnica de recolección fue la entrevista semiestructurada. La interpretación de los datos sigue el método de análisis temático. Los resultados revelan que las informaciones a las familias han ocurrido de forma sutil y las madres sienten dificultades en asimilar las orientaciones, ya que ellas poseen un contenido técnico y específico del vocabulario médico, imposibilitando el desarrollo de la autonomía en el cuidado con el ni o portador de enfermedad crónica. El conocimiento de las madres acerca de la enfermedad del ni o no es suficiente para el desarrollo del cuidado en el domicilio. El equipo de salud necesita interactuar con la familia desencadenando un proceso de autonomía para el cuidado en el domicilio.

Abstract: No panorama da “Sociedade da Informa o e do Conhecimento”, entende-se que as estratégias das organiza es devem estar voltadas para o foco humano, pois o homem é o verdadeiro detentor do potencial de conhecimento que determina a gest o estratégica. Nessa perspectiva, surge o interesse em buscar, na literatura, subsídios para contextualizar o conhecimento na administra o estratégica ao focalizar esse processo por meio da abordagem das Escolas do Pensamento Estratégico. Com as leituras, foi possível perceber a presen a do conhecimento que permeia cada uma das abordagens. Na compreens o de abordar o uso do conhecimento como vantagem competitiva, está mais refletida nas premissas da escola de aprendizado, que compreende a estratégia como um processo de aprendizagem, tanto individual quanto coletivo. A vantagem competitiva do conhecimento consiste na explora o das competências distintivas, difíceis de serem imitadas. Competência, tanto individual como organizacional, só se adquire com conhecimento viabilizado pelo processo de aprendizagem contínua à luz da gest o do conhecimento. ------------ In view of the "Information Society and Knowledge" means that the strategies of organizations should bedirected to the human focus, because man is the true keeper of the knowledge potential that determinethe strategic management. From this perspective, it is intriguing to look at literature, subsidies tocontextualize the knowledge in strategic management to focus on the this process by addressing theSchools of Strategic Thinking. With the readings, it was possible to perceive the presence of knowledgethat permeate each approach. Approach in understanding the use of knowledge as a competitiveadvantage, is more reflected in the premises of school learning, which includes the strategy as a learningprocess, both individually and collectively. The competitive advantage of knowledge consists in theexploitation of distinctive competencies, not easily imitated. Competence, both individual andorganizational knowledge are acquired only possible by continuous learning process in the light ofknowledge management.

Publicity and identity in the public space architecture

Abstract: This article aims at showing the relationship between publicity elements, such as posters and signs, with the city architecture, so that the contribution of these elements with the identity of the urban sites, especially the historical ones, can be understood. In order to do that, a focal point is given to Rua da Palma, located in the city of Recife (Pernambuco, Brazil). For the development of this research, which was based on the present morphological analysis of the site, a survey of photographs and the use of the buildings in the street from 2006 to 2009 was carried out. Also, the existing urban legislation was analyzed. Studies undertaken by authors such as Certau (1994), Venturi (1977) and Koolhaas (2004), among others, and concepts related to retail marketing helped in the conclusion of this analysis of the urban space, which presents architecture as a publicity media, often transforming the identity of the area. A starting point is presented here for future investigation on the role of urban laws and urban control, which deal with the placement of publicity elements in the architecture of the city and contribute for the formation or the urban landscape. This landscape which is considered an integral part of a cultural identity.
Rede e apoio social das famílias de crian as em condi o cr nica

Abstract: A doen a cr nica na infancia altera a dinamica familiar. Este estudo objetivou identificar a rede social e os tipos de apoiosocial, avaliando os vínculos apoiadores, na perspectiva das famílias de crian as em condi o cr nica. Delineou-se um estudodescritivo-exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa, baseado no depoimento de famílias residentes no município de Jo oPessoa-Paraíba. A produ o do material empírico ocorreu entre novembro de 2008 a janeiro de 2009 a partir da entrevistasemi-estruturada, da observa o participante e da constru o do ecomapa. Na análise obtiveram-se dados que foramagrupados na categoria: identifica o da rede e do apoio social à família. Os resultados apontam que a rede social é fonte defortalecimento para a família e crian a superarem adversidades relacionadas à doen a cr nica. A família tem poucasconex es com a comunidade e sua rede e apoio social s o formados pela assistência hospitalar, acompanhantes de outrascrian as hospitalizadas e apoio espiritual. Reconhecer a família como sujeito ativo no cuidado à crian a em condi o cr nica éfundamental, pois ao estabelecer parceria com a família, abrem-se espa os de escuta e acolhida para produ ocompartilhada do cuidado e a possibilidade de constru o de redes e apoio social necessários para o enfrentamento dacondi o cr nica na infancia.
