Abstract: In the research, we analyze how the discursive interactions occur and their quality. It was considered both interactions: the teacher-student type as well as student-student one during the teaching-learning processes that took place in science classes. We made observations of eleven science lessons in a fifth grade (sixth year)of the elementary school in a public school Jaboticabal (S o Paulo, Brazil). The results, which were analyzed based on the vygotskian referential, indicate that the interactive processes are fraught with cases of indiscipline in which the teacher lost control of the situation due to the excessive talking and movement ofthe students. In this context, we find a polarity in the interactive relations in the studied case: first, the teacher-student interaction is intended to control the behavior of the students and to impose the teacher’s authority; on the other hand, the student-student interactions function as a way to display resistance to thepresence of the teacher. Therefore, the student-student interactions are interpreted by the teacher as disruptive behaviors that need to be controlled and/or extinguished.

Abstract: in this study the structure of the sub-montane atlantic tropical rain forest tree and shrub component in different size classes was compared and their regeneration dynamics was discussed. the plants in each size class were sampled in plots of different size: class i (individuals £15cm tall) in 250 1x1m plots taken in five main samples of 50 units, at three-months intervals, between july/95 and july/96; class ii (individuals >15cm and £ 1,3m tall) in ten 2,5x5m plots; class iii (individuals > 1,3m tall and < 5,0cm dbh) in ten 5x10m plots and class iv (individuals3 5cm dbh) in ten 10x20m plots. the highest diversity was found in intermediate size classes was due to a more even distribution of individuals among species. these classes had also the highest values of quantitative and qualitative species similarity indices. the majority of the species and the individuals were secondary-climax and under-story, suggesting that the present forest structure have favored the regeneration of these plant groups.

Acta Botanica Brasilica , 2001,

The effect of feeding 8% of grains and byproducts (meal or cake) of canola on intake and digestibility was evaluated. Six non castrated Santa Ines sheep (from 210 to 240 days old and body weight of 44.8 + 4.2kg) were fed diets composed by 40% of Tifton hay and 60% of concentrate based on corn grain, soybean meal, whole grain canola, canola meal, canola cake and mineral mixture. No differences on the intakes of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), ether extract (EE), gross energy (GE), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), total carbohydrates (TC) and non fiber carbohydrate (NFC) were observed among treatments, in the digestibility trial. No treatment effect on the digestibilities of DM, OM, EE, CP, GE, NDF, TC and NFC was observed. It is recommended to include up to 8% of grains and byproducts (meal or cake) of canola in the sheep diet.

Brazilian Oral Research , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1806-83242010000300010
Abstract: the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of brushing with a colgate 360o or oral b indicator 35 toothbrush on the shear bond strength of orthodontic brackets bonded to extracted human teeth. the bristle wear and bristle tip morphology were also examined after simulated tooth-brushing. orthodontic brackets (roth-p/1st and 2nd premolar s/d- slot 0.18") were bonded (transbond xt?) to the smoothest surface of each of 45 extracted human molar and premolar teeth. test specimens were randomly divided into three groups: group 1, control group with no brushing; group 2, brushing with the oral b indicator 35; group 3, brushing with the colgate 360o. samples were adapted to a machine that simulated tooth-brushing. the bond strength of each bracket to each tooth was assessed with a mechanical testing machine. the bristle wear and bristle tip morphology indices were also assessed. statistically significant differences were defined for p < 0.05. the average bond strengths (range: 90.18-90.89 kgf/cm2) did not differ among the three groups. the colgate 360o showed less bristle wear and a better bristle tip morphology than the oral b indicator 35 toothbrush. however, use of either toothbrush did not decrease the bond strength of the orthodontic brackets. therefore, patients undergoing orthodontic therapy can safely use either toothbrush.
