Kant developed three major conceptions of nature. Each one is made possible by and corresponds to one of his Critiques. In the First Critique, nature is the ensemble of knowledge that is made possible through the understanding and represents the mechanical-causal nature. This is nature as it is dealt with by science. In the Second Critique we are presented a conception of nature that transcends our sensibility and results from reason as it creates its own laws. This is supersensible nature, as it grounds freedom and the practical-ethical actions. In the Third Critique we have organic nature, which is, at once, cause and effect of itself and is made possible by intuitive understanding. The different conceptions of nature are differentiated forms of knowledge, elaborated from diverse principles. And yet the three forms of nature are legitimate and do not exclude the other two.
Refúgio da liberdade: sobre o conceito de filosofia em Theodor Adorno = Refuge of freedom: about the concept of philosophy in Theodor Adorno
Schütz, Rosalvo
Veritas , 2012,
The philosophical conception formulated by Adorno was mainly driven forward by his critical reaction to systems with totalitarian pretensions, such as Nazism, Stalinism and the product manufacturing society. The philosophy represents a refuge for freedom facing these structures: it gives voice to the non-identical. The ability to subvert the conceptual and social order is implicit in the thought itself, which is expressed as constellations to come. The dialectic approach with materialism, as the primacy of the object, strengthens the philosophy in its critical potential, in its proximity to reality and freedom. The result is a renewed philosophy, both open and committed to the truth. The purpose of this paper is to show the interdependence of these concepts and point to the relevance of the philosophical concept that emerges from them.

O PAPEL DAS POLíTICAS PúBLICAS E O DESENVOLVIMENTO REGIONAL NO BRASIL: DO PARADIGMA MENTALISTA AO LINGUíSTICO
Rosalvo Nobre Carneiro
Boletim Goiano de Geografia , 2010,
Abstract: The role of public policies on regional development is parsed based on two major scientific paradigms ofsubjectivity or mentalism and of intersubjectivity or linguistic. Argues that public policies and the Brazilianregional development have historically if given based on the first paradigm, and recently adopted thesecond at some point these policies. The public policies of imprint Mentalist we call here of instrumentalsare subdivided into developmental and neoliberal while public policies are seen as communicative language, based in act oriented towards mutual understanding free of coercion. It is theoretical-methodologicalimprint, based on the imaginary of the philosopher Jürgen Habermas. The inclusion of the theory of communicativeaction on spatial issues can contribute to regional development thinking from the subordinationof the economy to society.

Prognostic factors in the survival of patients diagnosed with primary non-metastatic osteosarcoma with a poor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy
Bispo Júnior, Rosalvo Zósimo;Camargo, Olavo Pires de;
Clinics , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1807-59322009001200007
Abstract: introduction: identification of variables that determine the prognosis for osteosarcoma may enable stratification of patients into subgroups with better or worse risk of local recurrence, metastases and death due to the disease. discovery of such prognostic factors would permit selection of a subgroup of at-risk patients, with the aim of improving the therapeutic effectiveness. objective: to identify prognostic factors related to local recurrence-free survival, metastasis-free survival and overall survival among patients with highly malignant primary osteosarcoma that was non-metastatic on diagnosis and had poor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy. sample and methods: out of 45 patients admitted to a referral center in brazil between 2000 and 2004, 24 were selected for this study. results: the adverse factors that influenced the risk of local recurrence and the overall survival in univariate analysis were histological subtype other than osteoblastic (p = 0.017) and tumor size greater than 15 cm (p = 0.048). in relation to metastasis-free survival, the non-osteoblastic subtype had a worse prognosis (p = 0.007). the association of histological subtype maintained its significance in multivariate analysis for all studied survival categories. conclusions: tumor size greater than 15 cm is an adverse factor for local recurrence-free survival and overall survival but did not influence metastasis-free survival. the osteosarcoma histological type is a significant independent predictor for local recurrence-free survival, metastasis-free survival and overall survival.

Abstract: objective: would there be any difference in the prognosis for patients who presented, for example, 8% or 88% tumor necrosis induced by chemotherapy, even though both individuals were considered to be poor responders? the aim of this study was to compare the prognoses for different histological grades (huvos grade i versus grade ii), consequent to chemotherapy, among patients with primary osteosarcoma that was not metastatic at diagnosis. methods: twenty-four patients admitted to a referral center between 2000 and 2004 were selected for the study. the accumulated chances of survival were calculated using the kaplan-meier technique. huvos grades i and ii for necrosis consequent to chemotherapy were evaluated as variables in order to determine their prognostic value, in relation to local recurrence-free survival, metastasis-free survival and overall survival, using the log-rank test. results: comparing huvos grades i and ii, the following p values for survival were attained: local recurrence-free survival (p = 0.731), metastasis-free survival (p = 0.596) and overall survival (p = 0.669). conclusion: in this series, huvos grades i and ii did not have any comparative prognostic value and had similar behavior.

Abstract: Stingless bees are abundant and diverse key actors in several plant-pollinator networks in the neotropics, but little is known about their natural history and ecology. This study aims to contribute to knowledge about the diversity and dispersion of stingless bees and discusses the importance of nesting substrates. It was carried out in the Araguari river valley in Minas Gerais, Brazil, where a nest site survey was conducted in an area of 100?ha during 11 alternate months from 2006 to 2008, for a total of 1,200 observation hours. Sixty-nine nests were found, belonging to 12 genera and 20 different species. Nests of Melipona rufiventris were by far the most abundant. Stingless bees nested more frequently in hollows of live trees (64%), and 11 different substrates were identified. Seventeen plant species were used as nesting substrates and Anadenanthera macrocarpa (Fabaceae) was the main host, encompassing 23% of the surveyed nests. The area studied is important for the maintenance of stingless bees because it provides nesting sites for them. Without nesting sites the reproductive division of colonies is compromised, affecting the nests' survival. 1. Introduction Insects comprise the most diverse animal group on the planet, with about 925,000 known species worldwide [1]. They stand out by presenting several adaptations, interacting with various groups of animals and plants and having a large biomass and a wide niche breadth. An important mutualistic interactive mechanism between plants and insects is pollination [2, 3], and eusocial bees are responsible for 30 to 50% of these interactions [4]. The number of bee species in the world is about 30,000 [5, 6], and Brazil accounts for an estimated 10% of this total [7]. The high diversity of bees in Brazil is mainly owed to the tropical climate, which permits perennial nests, and the abundant supply of food. Stingless bees, native to Brazil, are represented by more than 200 species [7] and have a high commercial value because they are pollinators of several native and exotic crops [8, 9]. Knowledge of the basic ecology of bees is essential for underpinning the development and implementation of conservation strategies [10] and the development of management techniques favoring commercial farmers. In this context, ethological studies on aspects such as foraging ecology, activities such as collecting food resources, material for nests, the demand for sexual partners, and the choice of sites for nests or shelter are extremely relevant. The choice of nesting site is a stage in the swarming process. The division of
