CONSIDERA??ES SOBRE O MéTODO, A ORDEM E O ENTENDIMENTO EM RENé DESCARTES E BENEDICTUS DE SPINOZA
da Rocha Fragoso,Emanuel Angelo;
Estudios de Filosofía , 2006,
Abstract: the ordine geometrica is a splitting up of definitions and axioms that are self evident. the parallelism between both orders in spinoza?s system, the order cognoscendi and the order essendi, enables one to postulate the total intensity of the real, which necessarily implies a likeness between the finite understanding, inasmuch as it is a producer of the former order, and the infinite understanding, inasmuch as it is a producer of the latter order, which is absent in cartesian philosophy. mortral gueroult, considers descartes? method as a geometrical one because it strictly obeys the rule that ensures all rigour in geometry; while spinoza?s is so because, like gemoetry, he constructs the concepts from the objects.
Considerations about the theory of the modes in the Spinoza's ethics Considera es acerca da teoria dos modos na ética de Spinoza

Semina : Ciências Sociais e Humanas , 2001,
Abstract: The particular difficulty of the Spinozist theory of the modes. The definition of modes according to definition V, book I of the “Ethics”. The characterization of the modes as ontological dependents of the substance with no autonomy. The theory of the modes as embracing all the things that can not exist or exist or be conceived without God. The definition of the immediate infinite modes as necessary resultants of God’s absolute nature or of the absolute nature of any of God’s attributes, without the concurrence of other circumstances. The definition of the mediate infinite modes as resultants of God’s attributes while affected by an immediate infinite mode. The definition of the finite modes as affections of God’s attributes or as the singular things that we perceive in time and space with empirical, finite and determined existence. The definition of the bodies as being only the particular determinations of the infinite attribute extension and the finite understandings are merely modes of the infinite attribute thought, that can not be identified with the absolutely infinite substance or God. Abstract: The root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita causes serious damage and yield losses in numerous important crops worldwide. Analysis of the M. incognita genome revealed a vast number of proteases belonging to five different catalytic classes. Several reports indicate that M. incognita proteases could play important roles in nematode parasitism, besides their function in ordinary digestion of giant cell contents for feeding. The precise roles of these proteins during parasitism however are still unknown, making them interesting targets for gene silencing to address protein function. In this study we have knocked-down an aspartic (Mi-asp-1), a serine (Mi-ser-1) and a cysteine protease (Mi-cpl-1) by RNAi interference to get an insight into the function of these enzymes during a host/nematode interaction. Tobacco lines expressing dsRNA for Mi-ser-1 (dsSER), Mi-cpl-1 (dsCPL) and for the three genes together (dsFusion) were generated. Histological analysis of galls did not show clear differences in giant cell morphology. Interestingly, nematodes that infected plants expressing dsRNA for proteases produced a reduced number of eggs. In addition, nematode progeny matured in dsSER plants had reduced success in egg hatching, while progeny resulting from dsCPL and dsFusion plants were less successful to infect wild-type host plants. Quantitative PCR analysis confirmed a reduction in transcripts for Mi-cpl-1 and Mi-ser-1 proteases. Our results indicate that these proteases are possibly involved in different processes throughout nematode development, like nutrition, reproduction and embryogenesis. A better understanding of nematode proteases and their possible role during a plant-nematode interaction might help to develop new tools for phytonematode control.
Gênero e cotidiano escolar: dilemas e perspectivas da interven??o escolar na socializa??o afetivo-sexual dos adolescentes
Rosistolato, Rodrigo Pereira da Rocha;
Revista Estudos Feministas , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-026X2009000100002
Abstract: this article examines the classification of gender used by teachers who develop projects on sexual education in rio de janeiro to explain the views and the dilemmas of school intervention in the affective-sexual socialization of adolescents. the empirical material that supports the arguments is composed by 16 in-depth interviews, conducted with teachers responsible for school spaces where sexual education projects are developed in basic schools of rio de janeiro: the centers of adolescents multipliers (núcleos de adolescentes multiplicadores-/nam's). remarks were also made in a training course for teachers who wish to work with sexual education in school. the representations of gender classifications presented range from modern to traditional concerning femininity and masculinity. the projects were coordinated mostly by teachers, and pupils' participation was basically composed of women. the teachers sought consistency between their performance in school and family spaces. but at the same time that they guided their students to combat the inequalities of gender, they had doubts and uncertainties about the possibility of educating their own children according to ideals of gender equality, especially the sons. familiar situations contrasted with performances in the classroom, presenting tensions between denial and assertion of masculinity and traditional femininities.

Abstract: This work has investigated how the experiences with the use of the cell phone in the school can imply innovations in teaching and learning aiming to know if, through a teaching plan, we could produce an interdisciplinary project contemplating the use of the cell phone in the classroom. Initially, we outlined a panorama of the school in the digital age, exposing obstacles and possibilities of change from the insertion of mobile technologies in the school space. We know about the relevance in approaching the use of the cell phone as a mobile technology in education, since it has been a necessary item for the consumer society, which reflects the identity of its users and enters the classrooms attached to the student’s bodies. Most of teachers are unprepared to deal with these demands that emerge from the digital age, needing to reflect and act ontheir practice to meet the aspirations of digital natives and contemporaneity. We undertook a qualitative research and adopted with predominant research-action, during the process, considering the specificities of the school context. The results obtained from experience, based on a dialogic, reflexive and participatory relationship, enabled teachers to reflect and act on their pedagogical practice and?culminated in a Good Practices Guide. The guide was prepared in collaboration with the teachers who participated in training workshops. It contains the rules for the use of the cell phone in the school with recommendations on the use of classroom applications, didactic sequences and interdisciplinary projects. With the outcome of the research and training undertaken, the viability of using the cell phone in the school materialized through the productions and interventions of the teachers and the achievement of the proposed objectives allowed the understanding that teaching and learning can be hybrids and occur on network, anywhere, anytime.

Ribeiro, Jefferson Augusto Santana;Lucena, Daniel da Rocha;Lucena, Levy da Rocha;Jorge, Rodrigo;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492009000300025
Abstract: proliferative sickle cell retinopathy is an uncommon complication in individuals with sickle cell trait (as). however, the risk for proliferative retinopathy development is increased in patients with as hemoglobinopathy associated with systemic conditions or ocular trauma. a case of a patient with as hemoglobinopathy who developed proliferative sickle cell retinopathy after the occurrence of gestational diabetes and pregnancy-induced hypertension is reported. hemoglobin electrophoresis revealed presence of a2 5.0%, s 35.0% and a 53.2%. the present case emphasizes the importance of evaluating systemic comorbidities in patients with sickle cell trait during pregnancy since sickle cell retinopathy can progress rapidly, as well as the importance of regular eye fundus examination in these patients.

Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492009000600018
Abstract: this study is a retrospective case series aiming to evaluate the relation between toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis scars and the occurrence of retinal tears. ten patients with retinal tear and toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis examined at the school of medicine of ribeir?o preto clinics hospital, between january 2007 and april 2008, were included. fisher test and qui-square test with significance level of p<0.05 were used. eight cases (80%) had retinal detachment. twelve tears were found and localized mostly in the temporal superior periphery (6 cases, 50%). no statistically significant association between retinal tear and chorioretinal scar localization was observed considering five retinal quadrants (p=0.0828) or three zones (p=0.2507). the occurrence of retinal tears in patients with uveitis may be related to early posterior vitreous detachment caused by the intraocular inflammatory process. no correlation was observed between the localization of retinal tears and chorioretinal scars in this study, which suggests a causative factor not directly related to the presence of a scar.

Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492009000200022
Abstract: if the ocular media are clear, indirect binocular ophthalmoscopy allows retinal detachment and retinal tear identification and treatment under direct visualization. however, if opacities are present preventing direct fundus examination, ultrasonography becomes the most important tool for evaluating the posterior segment. in addition, ultrasonography can be useful in retinal tear treatment by guiding cryotherapy. in this article we describe a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment treatment technique applied to a patient with corneal opacity. cryopexy and circumferential and radial buckle positioning were guided by ultrasonography, resulting in retinal attachment during the 6-month follow-up period.
