Abstract: This text has the intent of introduce, insert in a quick biography of Michel Foucault, theconcepts of monument and genealogy. To do so, the analysis starts on the contexts of production of theseconcepts, during the sixties and seventies, demonstraing the order of major the worries the occupied thephilosopher in those years, such aas the understandings of how the relations of power are built and lately thewhy of this occurrence, always based on the idea that the relations of power are determinants for theunderstanding of these questions. The results of these inquietudes culminated in the creation of this two major’smasterpieces, Arqueology of Knowledge and Microphisics of Power. Finally, in verifying some Foucault’sworries, the intention is to once again raise his inquietudes, proponing a quick introduction on his analyzingway.Este texto tem a inten o de apresentar, inserido numa rápida biografia de Michel Foucault, osconceitos de monumento e genealogia. Genética, performance física humana e doping genético: o senso comum versus a realidade científica
Dias, Rodrigo Gon?alves;
Revista Brasileira de Medicina do Esporte , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-86922011000100012
Abstract: elite athletes have always been referred to as sports phenomena and their potential to reach higher performance levels in sports, far beyond normal range, is partially under the control of genes. athletic excellence is essentially multifactorial and it is determined by a complex interaction of environmental and genetic factors. there are almost 10 million genetic variants spread throughout the entire human genome and some of them have been proven to affect physical training responsiveness. the human performance phenotypes seem to be highly polygenic and previous research has found rare genotype combinations in elite athletes. nevertheless, the mechanisms through which genes interact with each other in order to improve physical performance are unknown. the knowledge on genes that influence trainability added to the potential misuse of advances in gene therapy, such as the possible introduction of genes into athlete cells, gave way to the terminology gene doping, a new and prohibited method of enhancing athletic performance above physiological limits. increase in skeletal muscle hypertrophy and haematocrit levels has been achieved by the manipulation of the expression of specific genes, but great part of impressive changes in these phenotypes have been obtained using laboratory animals. the understanding on the scientific studies enclosing genetics, human physical performance and gene doping is an intricate task. this review intentionally highlights the scientific evidence that has been produced so far on this popular topic, with the purpose to avoid continuous misinterpretation and spreading of faulty concepts allowing hence the comprehension on the current "state of the art" in this field
Numerical Evaluation of Strength in the Interface during Indentation Spherical Testing in Thin Films  [PDF]
Rodrigo Araújo, Avelino Manuel da Silva Dias
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2014.53019

The need for more components that are more resistant to wear and corrosion has promoted a growing interest in surface engineering. The search for improved tribological properties in materials contributes to the development of processes that extend the useful life of components and their applications in increasingly severe environments. In this respect, thin ceramic coatings have been used to enhance the tribological properties of components that operate under these conditions. However, new experimental assays are needed to assess the behaviour of these films and their surface as substrate. These experimental analyses require the use of sophisticated equipment and specialized personnel. On the other hand, with advances in computational mechanics, the application of numerical analysis to solve numerous technological problems has been increasingly frequent, owing to its low operational costs. This study aims to simulate an indentation assay with spherical penetrator in systems composed of thin ceramic film deposited on metallic substrate using a Finite Element commercial code. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the field behaviour of stresses in the contact region of the indenter with the sample, on the outline of the impression made by the penetrator and, primarily, on the film-substrate interface.

Infesta??o domiciliária em grau extremo por Triatoma infestans
Dias, Emmanuel;Zeledón, Rodrigo;
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz , 1955, DOI: 10.1590/S0074-02761955000200023
Abstract: a small mud hut, which was built by its owners in 1949, was known, since 1951, to be one of the houses most heavily populated by triatomid or cone-nosed bugs in bambuí. a total of 2 505 individuals, belonging to the species triatoma infestans, were collected there from october to december, 1951, in 26 applications of pyrethrum powders into the holes of the walls. three years later, in december, 1954 no less than 4 645 bugs were collected the same way, in five consecutive days. the hut was destroyed in january 13, 1955 when 1 398 additional insects were collected. then, a total of 8 548 specimens of triatoma infestans were captured in this single house, while only 4 p. megistus were captured. it has been observed that the proportion of bugs naturally infected with s. cruzi decreased from 37,7 per cent in 1951 to 6,5 per cent in 1954. the percentage of infected adult individuals dropped from 61,5 to 9,4 and "nymphs" it dropped from 33,3 to 3,5 in respectively 1951 and 1954. these differences were found to be statistically significant. all the six people inhabiting this hut exhibited a positive complement-fixation test (s. cruzi culture antigen) and xenodiagnosis was positive in 4 of them. haemograms taken from 5 of them showed varying degrees of anaemia. the head of the family, 49 years old, was a chagas' disease case with right bundle-branch block, while the electrocardiogram was normal in the other people. the las-born child of the couple died at the age of 14 months with fever and oedema, so it was possibly a case of acute schizotrypanosis.
Cultura organizacional no setor público: um estudo junto a um departamento administrativo de uma universidade federal brasileira Organizational Culture In The Public Administration: A Study In Administrative Department Of Brazilian Federal University

Revista de Administra??o da UFSM , 2011,
Abstract: The organizacional culture is a complex subject and that constantly it comes being studied for specialists and researchers of the whole world, for the fact of its relevance in the understanding of the functioning of the organizations. However, this type of study not yet total was spread out in the Brazilian public organizations, mainly in federal universities. Therefore, the present work has as objective generality to identify to the organizacional culture under the personal and institucional points of view in an managemental department of the Federal University of Saint Maria, through a comparison with four deuses Greek (Zeus, Apolo, Atena and Dionísio) that they reflect the form as the politics and strategies in an organization are lead, according to Handy study (1994). By means of a survey carried through with the employees of the related department, the gotten results had allowed the conclusion of that it has the predominance of the organizacional culture of the Apolo type in the institucional optics and of the Atena type in the personal optics, where a made comparative degree enter the predominant characteristics in each one of these cultures showed a divergence enter the yearnings of the collaborators and the form as the organization acts day-by-day in its, as the points boarded for the research and presented in the analysis of the results.

Pharmacology & Pharmacy (PP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/pp.2013.45062
Abstract: Pharmaceutical services contribute to the rational use of medicines by ensuring the provision of appropriate, safe and effective pharmacotherapies. Thus, it is important to investigate whether the geographical distribution of pharmacies causes inequalities in access in countries like Brazil, where there is no federal law regulating the opening of new establishments (in contrast to many European countries). This study analyzed the accessibility of community pharmacies in the city of Sao Mateus, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The authors obtained the geographical coordinates of pharmacies and healthfacilities, which scanned and georeferenced the study area. The 40 pharmacies included in the spatial analysis presented a heterogeneous distribution, with the existence of neighborhoods with an accumulation of pharmacies and others with no pharmacies. The authors found that only 43.7% of the study area received pharmaceutical service coverage, when buffer zones of 350 meters are incorporated, and that most of the districts have a minimum distance of 100 meters between health facilities and pharmacies. It was concluded that the use of GIS proved to be very suitable for analysis of pharmaceutical services, enabling knowledge of the local situation and serving as a stimulus for future studies.

Indestructibility of compact spaces
Rodrigo R. Dias,Franklin D. Tall
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: In this article we investigate which compact spaces remain compact under countably closed forcing. We prove that, assuming the Continuum Hypothesis, the natural generalizations to $\omega_1$-sequences of the selection principle and topological game versions of the Rothberger property are not equivalent, even for compact spaces. We also show that Tall and Usuba's "$\aleph_1$-Borel Conjecture" is equiconsistent with the existence of an inaccessible cardinal.
Topological games and Alster spaces
Leandro F. Aurichi,Rodrigo R. Dias
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: In this paper we study connections between topological games such as Rothberger, Menger and compact-open, and relate these games to properties involving covers by G_{\delta} subsets. The results include: (1) If Two has a winning strategy in the Menger game on a regular space X, then X is an Alster space. (2) If Two has a winning strategy in the Rothberger game on a topological space X, then the G_\delta-topology on X is Lindelof. (3) The Menger game and the compact-open game are (consistently) not dual.
