Rela??es mútuas entre informa??o e conhecimento: o mesmo conceito?

Abstract: the proximity between information and knowledge concepts causes conceptual disorder in information science studies. on the other hand, the establishment of a scientific discipline depends of the conceptual clarity about its study object. in view of this, the proposal hypothesis demonstrates the necessity to map the conceptual relations between information (area study object) and knowledge, aiming to show the distinction of these, to be used with less ambiguity by researchers. thus, it discusses, first, the information science concepts and its study object, under three paradigms proposed by capurro, following: physical, social and cognoscente, finally, some relations conceptual between information and knowledge and their consequences - there are similarity relations between them, but that does not mean that they become identical. previous definitions of such terms may have found these relationships, however, rarely the subject was dealt with off and carefully, in the justification false of that debate is purely theoretical and do not lead to any useful result.

Abstract: It is reflected about the Sciences. First of all, it is examined what would be constitution of a theory, getting together theory and practice in a way to reflect about the process of scientific production. It is defended that as any knowledge the Sciences are necessarily linked to some epistemology, methodology and ideology. It is necessary to know the relations of power and its clash inside the Sciences, to know how they are produced, guiding and defining until the thought of their own professionals and scientists.

Clinics , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1807-59322008000600002
Abstract: introduction: obesity can cause deleterious effects on respiratory function and impair health and quality of life. objective: to evaluate the effects of obesity on the pulmonary function of adult women. methods: an obese group, constituted of 20 women between 20 and 35 years old with a bmi of 35 - 49.99 kg/m2 who were non-smokers and sedentary and had no lung disease were recruited. the non-obese group consisted of 20 women between 20 and 35 years old who were sedentary and non-smokers and had no lung disease and a body mass index between 18.5 and 24.99 kg/m2. spirometry was performed in all subjects. the statistical analysis consisted of parametric or non-parametric tests, depending on the distribution of each variable, considering p < 0.05 to be statistically significant. results: the obese group presented a mean age of 25.85 ± 3.89 years and a mean bmi of 41.1 ± 3.46 kg/m2, and the non-obese group presented a mean age of 23.9 ± 2.97 years and a mean body mass index of 21.91 ± 1.81 kg/m2. there were no significant differences between the obese group and the non-obese group as to the age, vital capacity, tidal volume, forced vital capacity, and forced expiratory volume in one second. however, the obese group presented a greater inspiratory reserve volume (2.44 ± 0.47 l vs. 1.87 ± 0.42 l), a lower expiratory reserve volume (0.52 ± 0.32 l vs. 1.15 ± 0.32 l), and a maximal voluntary ventilation (108.5 ± 13.3 l/min vs. 122.6 ± 19.8 l/min) than the non-obese group, respectively. conclusion: the alterations evidenced in the components of the vital capacity (inspiratory reserve volume and expiratory reserve volume) suggest damage to the chest mechanics caused by obesity. these factors probably contributed to a reduction of the maximal voluntary ventilation.

Abstract: The main usages of surface water near to the former Roger’s open dump were investigated by means of visits every three months. These visits were performed in: March 2006, August 2006, November 2006, February 2007, May 2007 and August 2007. The following activities were identified: fishing, crustacean and shellfish catchments, primary contact bath, discharge of sewage, disposal of solid wastes, and discharge of leachate generated by the former open dump. Furthermore, social-economical questionnaires were applied to the people living nearby. Results showed that 50.2% of interviewed people stated that uses the Sanhauá river water for fishing or crustacean or shellfish catchments; 45.8% said that use the river for primary or secondary contact bath or navigation; 93.1% of interviewed people said that their houses were not attended with sewage and so that, the final disposal site for the sewage was the Sanhauá river. Although all houses are attended by solid waste collection services, 46.6% of the interviewed people declared to know about solid wastes disposal at the Sanhauá river. According to these usages and CONAMA Resolution 357/2005 and the water salinity, the Sanhauá river would be classified into class 1 for brackish water, as opposed to its present classification: class 3. The monitoring showed that water quality standards were not in accordance to the class 1 for brackish water. Therefore, the environmental institution should adopt measures so that the water quality of Sanhauá river would be maintained or proceed to the revision for the river classification.
Da internalidade à externalidade: a localiza??o da vida subjetiva e suas varia??es históricas
Lima, Julia Coutinho Costa;
Psicologia: Ciência e Profiss?o , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-98932008000300013
Abstract: this study has main objective the strategies of the subjectivity location, taking as the start point a perspective on social and historical building. to argue about the subjectivity location implicates its many historical changes and also to search for the roots of the building notion of inner nature and, at the same time, to make evident the recent dislocations of subjective experiences through what could be called a more externalized pole. beginning with the analyses of the state of the art from those authors which have studied the appearance of internalized subjectivity and intimacy, as well as those who have been focusing on the contemporary transformations in subjectivity, the paper lights up the ideas of interiority and exteriority, considering them as a historical-social construction. also we debate some matrices that justify the importance that the internality had and still has in the construction of modern identities: notions of internality were discussed as source of the individual true identity, as the morality source, as a component of freedom, besides the notion of internality while local of enchantment and motivation to life. the analyses stood out the recent movement that is modifying that soil, being evidenced the elements that constitute the passage of a internalized identity references for other more externalized, less intimate.

Solitude, considered as a symptom of a scenery in which the public space loses valor and grows the concerns about the interiority and personality, is the subject that directs this article. There were analyzed the singularities of solitude especially in the worker classes and the factors involved in its constitution. The debate considers specifically solitude in the universe of the lower wealth Brazilians, knowing that in the last years occurred lots of changes in the work culture. To the workers in general and more dramatically to the lower wealth: unemployment, informal jobs and the difficulty to solidify the identity by the work seem to intensify the feelings of solitude.
Impacto dos stents farmacológicos no tratamento percutaneo de les?es coronárias em bifurca??o: resultados clínicos tardios de um estudo comparativo incluindo pacientes do "mundo-real"
Mendes, Alaor;Sousa, Amanda G. M. R.;Costa, Ricardo A.;Moreira, Adriana;Costa Jr., José Ribamar;Maldonado, Galo;Cano, Manuel N.;Lima, André;Staico, Rodolfo;Feres, Fausto;Mattos, Luiz A.;Abizaid, Alexandre;Siqueira, Dimytri;Berwanger, Otávio;Sousa, J. Eduardo;

Abstract: background: historically, percutaneous coronary interventions (pci) in bifurcation lesions are associated with high rates of complications, especially due to suboptimal results in the lateral branch (lb) and the need for target lesion revascularization (tlr) during long-term follow-up. we assess the impact of drug-eluting stents in the late clinical follow-up of non-selected patients with bifurcation lesions coming from the daily clinical practice. methods: since may, 2002, 195 patients with bifurcation lesions were treated consecutively at two clinical centers [drugeluting stent (des) group = 89; non drug-eluting stent (ndes) group = 106] and followed up for two years. results: the two groups presented similar clinical profiles including mean age of 63 years and 25% with diabetes mellitus. the majority of lesions had significant involvement of the two branches (78% vs. 76%; p = 0.82), the provisional lb stent strategy was used in the majority of cases (75% des vs. 89% ndes; p = 0.45), and the angiographic success in the lateral branch (timi 3 flow, residual stenosis < 50% without dissection) was achieved in 80% vs. 78% (p = 0.56) in the des and ndes groups, respectively. after 24 months of follow-up, the des group showed a higher survival free of tlr (97.8% vs. 82.1%; p < 0.0001), resulting in higher survival free of major adverse cardiac events (mace) (93.3% vs. 77.4%; p = 0.003). stent thrombosis occurred in 2 patients in each group. conclusions: in non-selected patients from the "real-world", the use of des to treat bifurcation coronary lesions was superior to the use of ndes stents in the long-term clinical follow-up, especially with respect to their clinical effectiveness in reducing the rates of tlr, with consequent increase in survival free from mace, without compromising long-term safety.

Abstract: introduction: despite the advent of drug-eluting stents, per-cutaneous coronary interventions in saphenous vein bypass grafts remain a challenge, with a high incidence of early complications and uncertainty regarding late outcomes. this study was aimed at evaluating clinical outcomes of patients with saphenous vein graft lesions treated with drug-eluting stents. method: from may 2002 to january 2009, a total of 151 patients with 196 saphenous vein graft lesions were consecutively submitted to percutaneous coronary intervention with 211 drug-eluting stents and included in this trial. patients were pretreated with enoxiparin, clopidogrel and acetylsalicylic acid for 3 to 5 days prior to percutaneous coronary intervention. dual antiplatelet therapy (acetylsalicylic acid + clopidogrel) was prescribed for 12 months. the objective was to determine the rate of major adverse cardiac events (mace) during hospitalization and in the long-term. clinical follow-up was obtained at 1, 6 and 12 months and then, yearly after that. results: mean age was 68.2 years, with a prevalence of male patients (89.1%). diabetes mellitus was observed in 30.7% cases and mean age of venous grafts was 10.4 years. angiographic success was obtained in 98.2% of the cases. during hospitalization, mace rate was 8.7%, especially due to post-procedural enzyme increase (7.1%). in the first follow-up year, the rate of mace increased to 14.2%, with a 3.9% rate of target-lesion revascularizations. in the late follow-up (mean of 2.6 years), the rate of mace increased to 28.5%, with 6.0% of cardiac deaths and 16.6% of acute myocardial infarctions. five cases of thrombosis (all of them definitive) were observed in this population. conclusion: in the present subanalysis of the desire registry, the use of optimized antithrombotic therapy (acetylsalicylic acid + thienopyridines + low molecular weight heparin, for 3 to 5 days before the intervention) and the use of drug-eluting stents for the treatment of saphenous
