Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2015.610092
Abstract: A phase-field model coupled to the multiphase/multiscale model is used to simulate the microstructural morphology and predict the CET during solidification. The considered mechanism for the CET is based on interactions of solute between the equiaxed grains and the advancing columnar front. The results for the solute concentration in liquid region, dendrite tip velocity, volume fraction of the liquid and solid are presented and discussed. The phase-field model is used to simulate the dendritic morphology of an alloy directionally solidified, by imposing a constant temperature gradient. The simulation of the equiaxed grains growth requires a further important element, the growth of grains with different crystallographic orientations. The grain orientations are generated randomly for each nucleus introduced in computational domain. Finally, the coupling results between the multiphase/multiscale model and phase-field are presented and discussed. For higher nuclei density present in the melt, a shorter distance between mold wall and the equiaxed zone in the solidification process can be observed. A solute concentration boundary layer exists in the liquid along the columnar grain contour. The concentrations in the solid indicate the presence of a microsegregation pattern. The simulated results show that the solidification features are consistent with those observed based on the metallographic examinations of cast microstructures reported in the literature.

Revista Colombiana de Cirugía , 2008,
Abstract: introduction. obesity is a disease whose incidence is increasing in our population, including the young. the different surgical options offer good results, when the procedure is individualized according to the characteristics of the patient, but there are associated morbidity and mortality and high costs determined by the use of mechanical sutures. materials and methods. we report 100 patients that underwent a new restrictive surgical procedure, an original laparoscopic operation that we have called the sales′gastric surset. analysis of this series was performed through review of the clinical records, follow-up examinations, and telephone intervieat. results. one hundred patients were operated on during the period august 2006 and august 2007. there were 56 women and 44 men, with ages ranging from 15 to 64 years, and body mass index ranging from 32 to 45 kg/m2. mean weight loss was 26.44 kg, corresponding to e mean of 69.61% discussion. this new original procedure represents a valid alternative in bariatric surgery, is easy to perform, and is associated with lesser morbimortality rates. because it is performed as an ambulatory operation and does not require the use of mechanical sutures, costs and hospital stay are minimized. it can be easily offered in our hospitals and augments the possibility of bariatric surgery, especially in low income persons.
Surset gástrico de Sales: una alternativa para cirugía bariátrica restrictiva Sales' gastric surset: a new alternative in bariatric restrictive surgery
Carlos Elías Sales Puccini
Revista Colombiana de Cirugía , 2008,
Abstract: Introducción. Abstract: rutin is employed as antioxidant and to prevent the capillary fragility and, when incorporated in cosmetic emulsions, it must target the action site. in vitro cutaneous penetration studies through human skin is the ideal situation, however, there are difficulties to obtain and to maintain this tissue viability. among the membrane models, shed snake skin presents itself as pure stratum corneum, providing barrier function similar to human and it is obtained without the animal sacrifice. the objectives of this research were the development and stability evaluation of a cosmetic emulsion containing rutin and propylene glycol (penetration enhancer) and the evaluation of rutin in vitro cutaneous penetration and retention from the emulsion, employing an alternative model biomembrane. emulsion was developed with rutin and propylene glycol, both at 5.0% w/w. active substance presented on the formulation was quantified by a validated spectrophotometric method at 361.0 nm. rutin cutaneous penetration and retention was performed in vertical diffusion cells with shed snake skin of crotalus durissus, as alternative model biomembrane, and distilled water and ethanol 99.5% (1:1), as receptor fluid. the experiment was conducted for six hours, at 37.0 ± 0.5 oc with constant stirring of 300 rpm. spectrophotometry at 410.0 nm, previously validated, determined the active substance after cutaneous penetration/retention. emulsion did not promote rutin cutaneous penetration through c. durissus skin, retaining 0.931 ± 0.0391 mg rutin/mg shed snake skin. the referred formulation was chemically stable for 30 days after stored at 25.0 ± 2.0 oc, 5.0 ± 0.5 oc and 45.0 ± 0.5 oc. in conclusion, it has not been verified the active cutaneous penetration through the model biomembrane, but only its retention on the crotalus durissus stratum corneum, condition considered stable for 30 days.

Brazilian Journal of Information Science , 2009,
Abstract: The information and communication technologies potentiate, from the Internet, a space to the discussion and political deliberation, approaching citizens and governments through interactive resources such as e-mails, forums, on-line ombudsman, chats and others. It is observed this way, the growing effort and investment of the governments and political representatives in organizing, managing, available information of public interest at the web, constituting the electronic government. Thus, the goal of this article intends to investigate the conditions of political participation of the citizens from the interactive tools available in the websitesof the members from the state of Bahia. With a descriptive character, this research searched to identify only the sites of the members registered in Legislative Assembly from the state of Bahia (ALBA). In the tabulation of data, it was adapted the fourthlevel of the form: Level of participation of the citizens: the Evaluation School – proposed by Marques (2007) to a sheet in the software Excel and, to the discussion of them, used the analysis quali-quantitative. The results of this research show the incipient state of the website of the members from the state of Bahia to theopportunities of political participation in the web, lying to the principles which govern the electronic government. This work presents part of the studies which will help the project of research in developed by the present author in the Program of Pos Graduation in Information Science of the Universidade Federal da Bahia (PPGCI/UFBA).

Brazilian Journal of Information Science , 2009,
