Considerations for Erythema Nodosum Leprosum, with Emphasis on Its Oral Manifestations  [PDF]
Antonio Carlos Vinhas, Roberto Meyer Nascimento
Advances in Infectious Diseases (AID) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/aid.2013.31004

Leprosy is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, transmitted from person to person through contact among susceptible untreated patients. It presents a broad clinical spectrum which is related to the host’s ability to mount a specific immune response. The lesions caused by the proliferation of Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae) were significantly reduced in recent years with the early detection of new cases. Because they are less evident and/or study, maxillofacial injuries and the oral mucosa may reveal important details about the transmissibility and immunopathogenesis of leprosy. This article was based on a literature to verify an interrelation between oral manifestations in virchowian patients and immuno-pathological factors. Association between the infection of oral mucosa and some pathological findings as well as the participation of the local immune response in protection against the disease are research topics still not fully exploited.

Generation and Control of Turbulences in a Wind Tunnel  [PDF]
América Torres, Roberto Tapia, Antonio Ramos
Open Journal of Fluid Dynamics (OJFD) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/ojfd.2016.64033
Abstract: In this paper, the generation and control of turbulences in a wind tunnel, for design, analysis and testing of test objects are proposed. Modifications to the wind tunnel are made in order to generate the turbulences in the test chamber. Specifically, for the turbulence analysis, the reflective symmetry concept is used in order to group the different turbulences cases generated in the wind tunnel test chamber. The Ansys software is used in order to model and analyze the wind tunnel. Specific platform or module known as Fluent is used for the analysis of the turbulence generated in the wind tunnel. To design proposal of a wind tunnel capable to generate and controlling turbulences is exposed in this paper. For this, the controller design and verification are performed by means of simulations. To obtain the control law structure, the inversion concept is used. The proposed control law is validated via a co-simulation implemented in the Simplorer module, with the aim of combining the power electronics part, controller and engine, with the proposed model wind tunnel.
TAA Polyepitope DNA-Based Vaccines: A Potential Tool for Cancer Therapy
Roberto Bei,Antonio Scardino
Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology , 2010, DOI: 10.1155/2010/102758
Abstract: DNA-based cancer vaccines represent an attractive strategy for inducing immunity to tumor associated antigens (TAAs) in cancer patients. The demonstration that the delivery of a recombinant plasmid encoding epitopes can lead to epitope production, processing, and presentation to CD8
Estimativa da área foliar em milharal
Pereira, Antonio Roberto;
Bragantia , 1987, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051987000100016
Abstract: in a single cross corn hybrid experiment it was tested the use of a leaf area factor, obtained in one replication, in estimating the leaf area per plant of the other replications. it was used the corn hybrids hs1227 (flint) and hs7777 (dent) grown at the densities of 42,000 and 84,000 plants per hectare. there was no statistical difference between the observed and the estimated values. the standard error of the estimation, in all cases, was lower than 10%.
Balan?o hídrico de um solo podzolizado de Lins e Marília cultivado com cafeeiros
Pereira, Antonio Roberto;
Bragantia , 1986, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051986000200004
Abstract: the water balance of an euthrophic red yellow podzolic soil grown with coffee trees of different ages and sizes, that is, 'mundo novo' with normal growth (18 years - 3m tall), 'mundo novo' cut back (3 years- 2m tall), and 'catuaí' (4 years - 1.5m tall) were performed during the period between two harvests (1971/72), in pindorama, state of s?o paulo, brazil, through the neutron technique down to the 2.4m depth. such soil held about 1mm of water per centimeter of soil depth when under the tension of 15atm. there was a dense layer between 60 and 90cm which helped to keep the moisture in the upper part of the soil profile and restricted the deep drainage. the minimum and maximum storage observed were, respectively, 500 and 620mm for 'catuaí', 460 and 600mm for the cut back field, and 390 and 590mm for the field with normal growth. in general we can say that: (a) the normal growth field used about 97% of the total rainfall as evapotranspiration and did not have an effective deep drainage; (b) the evapotranspiration of the cut back field was about 94% of the total rainfall with an effective deep drainage of 55mm; (c) the 'catuaí' field evapotranspired about 88% of the total rainfall and contributed effectively with 152.6mm to the deep drainage.
Simplificado o balan?o hídrico de Thornthwaite-Mather
Pereira, Antonio Roberto;
Bragantia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87052005000200019
Abstract: following the approach presented by mendon?a (1958) and using basic calculus the thornthwaite & mather (1955) climatic water balance was simplyfied by eliminating the column accumulated potential water loss, without any loss for the final results. such simplification increases the efficiency of the computations and it makes easier to understand the water balance.
Stochastically stable implementation
Antonio Cabrales,Roberto Serrano
SERIEs , 2012, DOI: 10.1007/s13209-011-0062-7
Abstract: Restricting attention to economic environments, we study implementation under perturbed better-response dynamics (BRD). A social choice function (SCF) is implementable in stochastically stable strategies of perturbed BRD whenever the only outcome supported by the stochastically stable strategies of the perturbed process is the outcome prescribed by the SCF. For uniform mistakes, we show that any ε-secure and strongly efficient SCF is implementable when there are at least five agents. Extensions to incomplete information environments are also obtained.
