Disfagia e acidente vascular cerebral: rela??o entre o grau de severidade e o nível de comprometimento neurológico
Itaquy, Roberta Baldino;Favero, Samara Regina;Ribeiro, Marlise de Castro;Barea, Liselotte Menke;Almeida, Sheila Tamanini de;Mancopes, Renata;
Jornal da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S2179-64912011000400016
Abstract: the aim of this case study was to verify the occurrence of dysphagia in acute ischemic stroke within 48 hours after the onset of the first symptoms, in order to establish a possible relationship between the level of neurologic impairment and the severity degree of dysphagia. after emergency hospital admission, three patients underwent neurological clinical evaluation (general physical examination, neurological examination, and application of the national institute of health stroke scale - nihss), and clinical assessment of swallowing using the protocolo fonoaudiológico de avalia??o do risco para disfagia (pard - speech-language pathology protocol for risk evaluation for dysphagia). one of the patients presented functional swallowing (nihss score 11), while the other two had mild and moderate oropharyngeal dysphagia (nihss scores 15 and 19, respectively). the service flow and the delay on the patients' search for medical care determined the small sample. the findings corroborate literature data regarding the severity of the neurological condition and the manifestation of dysphagia.
Il Testamento Biologico nell' ordinamento giuridico italiano
Iolanda Baldino

The Land-Use Consequences of Woody Biomass with More Stringent Climate Mitigation Scenarios  [PDF]
Alice Favero, Robert Mendelsohn
Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2017.81006
Abstract: Integrated assessment models increasingly rely on biomass for energy with ever more stringent mitigation policies. The stringency of mitigation will therefore have large effects on land use. As discussed in the literature, crop bio-energy will lead to substantial pressure to increase deforestation. This paper consequently explores using woody biomass for bioenergy. The paper combines the IAM WITCH with a global dynamic forestry model GTM to determine the optimal size of the woody biomass market, the effects on the timber market, and the resulting forestland under two alternative mitigation strategies. This paper predicts that moving from a moderate to a stringent mitigation policy would increase the demand for woody biomass from 3.7 to 5.2 billion m3/yr, increasing forestland by 1049 to 1890 million ha, and shrinking farmland by 748 to 1550 million ha. The stringency of mitigation will therefore have large effects on land use.
A história da derivada de Mariana: uma experiência didática

Bolema: Boletim de Educa??o Matemática , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-636X2012000200001
Abstract: in this paper we tell a story for children and adults designed to introduce the concept of derivative as a quotient of infinitesimals. we report on the understanding of 11 and 12-years old girls about the story and the concept. a brief justification for the use of infinitesimals in the teaching of calculus follows, as well as a description of the context of a freshmen calculus course classroom where this story was used as a worksheet. we challenge the calculus teachers and textbook authors to produce something equally accessible for the introduction of the concept of derivative via the theory of limits.
Italians, the “Good People”: Reflections on National Self-Representation in Contemporary Italian Debates on Xenophobia and War
Paolo Favero
Outlines : Critical Practice Studies , 2010,
Abstract: Moving among historical material and contemporary debates on xenophobia and war, this paper is an exploration of the self-representation “Italiani Brava Gente”, an image claiming the intrinsic goodness of the Italian people. Originated during the first Italian colonial enterprises, it has been used also for overcoming the horrors of Fascism and is evoked in contemporary Italy too for justifying traumatic and violent events. Functioning as an ideological laundry for reformulating and then setting aside disquieting moments of national shame, “Italiani Brava Gente” is central to the construction of a modern Italian identity.
Some finiteness results for Fourier-Mukai partners
David Favero
Mathematics , 2007,
Abstract: We develop some methods for studying the Fourier-Mukai partners of an algebraic variety. As applications we prove that abelian varieties have finitely many Fourier-Mukai partners and that they are uniquely determined by their derived category of coherent $D$-modules. We also generalize a famous theorem due to A. Bondal and D. Orlov.
Reduced Expression of the ROCK Inhibitor Rnd3 Is Associated with Increased Invasiveness and Metastatic Potential in Mesenchymal Tumor Cells

Abstract: Mesenchymal and amoeboid movements are two important mechanisms adopted by cancer cells to invade the surrounding environment. Mesenchymal movement depends on extracellular matrix protease activity, amoeboid movement on the RhoA-dependent kinase ROCK. Cancer cells can switch from one mechanism to the other in response to different stimuli, limiting the efficacy of antimetastatic therapies.
Políticas públicas e reestrutura??o de redes de sociabilidades na agricultura familiar
Favero, Celso Antonio;
Caderno CRH , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-49792011000300010
Abstract: the objective of the researches that originated this paper is to acknowledge displacement created in the lives and routines of the family farmer of semi-arid region of the north-east of brazil with the introduction of the policies of conditional income transference. the money of this policies added to the money from other transferences, are they appropriate, are they used and represented upon the families of those farmers? to answer this question let's begin from four ideas: 1) nowadays the territorialization of capital tend to balance itself out in the combination of territories that produce wealth and territories of transference of income; 2) the introduction of the money from public transferences promotes displacement in relation to positions and availability of individuals in their families as well as the families in their local sociability networks; 3)in the new policies for family farming in semi-arid region, runs the idea development for consumption; 4) the state has become main player in the production of those displacement.
Psicologia e cooperetivismo solidário: possíveis (des)encontros
Favero, Eveline;Eidelwein, Karen;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822004000300005
Abstract: this article is about the report of an experience and it was written based on a scientific initiation research, developed in an institute called cooesperan?a (santa maria / rs). the work involved the organization of reflexive groups with merchants and individual interviews which aimed to comprehend how the community psychology can interfere and how it can be inserted in a cooperative environment which produces work and income. also, a space for a talk about the individuals' hopes and difficulties was provided. from the merchants' speech, we realize that psychology can have a very important role, when it comes to working in the formation of the merchants themselves, integrated to the work of other technicians, before they enroll definitely in the cooperative, that is, when the merchants gather in groups of five families to turn into a cooperative. at this point, individual and general interests are taken into consideration, and they need to be reorganized and rethought, considering the proposal of the solidarity economy.
