A new species of Dicordylus Lacordaire, 1863 from Brazil (Coleoptera, Belidae, Pachyurinae, Agnesiotidini), with a new record of D. serranus Vanin 1976 for Brazil
Mermudes, José Ricardo M.;
Papéis Avulsos de Zoologia (S?o Paulo) , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0031-10492006000800001
Abstract: a new species of dicordylus (coleoptera, belidae, pachyurinae, agnesiotidini) is described from brazil. dicordylus vanini sp. nov. differs from the other three known species mainly by the presence of a dorsal, decumbent, reddish-orange pubescence, and by the absence of a rounded spot near the center of each elytron. an updated identification key as well as an illustration of new species are provided.
Corpos, heteronormatividade e performances híbridas
Méllo, Ricardo Pimentel;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822012000100022
Abstract: ways of life often are naturalized as if there was a predetermined shape of the female and male body. the bodies are classified as a biological materiality, which is experienced as evidence of the existence of our sexuality and gender. thus, bodies that do not accommodate to these norms are treated as abjects. to counteract this biological assumption, the feminist movement began to use the concept of gender in order to strip of the supposedly biological differences between male and female. however, the sexual organ is still the basic category for differentiation and the body is still understood as an inert materialization. how not to succumb to binary perspectives? how to live a life that dares to overflow the historical and cultural commonalities? taking the queer studies' perspectives, it is put forward an idea of bodies as vibratile, strange, freakish devices made and molded in social webs; this is a proposal of biopolitical resistance to the isolation imposed on the abjects.

Mermudes, José Ricardo M.;
Revista Brasileira de Entomologia , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0085-56262003000200014
Abstract: unanthribus gen. nov. is proposed to include unanthribus maximus sp. nov. (type species) described from brazil (pará), and u. grandis (jordan, 1911) comb. nov., which is redescribed. the species are illustrated and keyed.
Revis?o sistemática, análise cladística e biogeografia dos gêneros Tribotropis e Hypselotropis (Coleoptera, Anthribidae, Anthribinae, Ptychoderini)
Mermudes, José Ricardo M.;
Revista Brasileira de Entomologia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0085-56262005000400009
Abstract: the genera tribotropis jekel, 1855 and hypselotropis jekel, 1855 are revised. based on results of cladistic analysis that included 41 characters and 22 taxa, the genus tribotropis resulted paraphyletic in relation to hypselotropis, thus the former is proposed as a synonym of the latter. the genus hypselotropis and 17 species are redescribed, including the species previously allocated in tribotropis: hypselotropis apollinaris (jordan, 1939) comb. nov.; h. colombiana (mermudes, 2004) comb. nov.; h. compressicornis (jordan, 1895) comb. nov.; h. conicollis (jekel, 1855) comb. nov.; h. limodes (jordan, 1939) com. nov.; h. prasinata (fahraeus, 1839) comb. nov.; h. punctulata (jekel, 1855) comb. nov.; h. pustulata (fabricius, 1801) comb. nov; h. speciosa (jekel, 1855) comb. nov.; h. subvittata (jordan, 1937) comb. nov.; h. suffusa (jordan, 1895) comb. nov.; e h. vittata (kirsch, 1889) comb. nov.. a key to species, illustrations and maps of distribution are provided. the biogeography based on patterns of distribution of the species are discussed.

Abstract: systaltocerus platyrhinus labram & imhoff, 1840: redescriptions and considerations about the synonymy with homalorhamphus vestitus haedo rossi & viana, 1957 (coleoptera, anthribidae, anthribinae). the genus systaltocerus labram & imhoff, 1840 and the species s. platyrhinus labram & imhoff, 1840 (type species), are redescribed. illustrations of the mouth pieces, endosternites, wing venation, male and female terminalia, and rectal plates, are given for the first time. new data on geographic distribution are also presented. nomenclatural changes introduced: systaltocerus labram & imhoff, 1840 = homalorhamphus haedo rossi & viana, 1957 syn. nov.; systaltocerus platyrhinus labram & imhoff, 1840 = homalorhamphus vestitus haedo rossi & viana, 1957 syn. nov.
