Abstract: Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most prevalent systemic mycosis in Latin America. It is a fungal infection caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis. This microorganism can penetrate the human body through direct contact and can cause intense lymphadenopathy, ulcerated lesions in the oral cavity and in the skin among other alterations. In this study, we report a case of paracoccidioidomycosis with unusual clinical presentation, as it manifested in the female sex and although it did not present any relevant complaints of respiratory focus, it presented a single ulcerated lesion in the buccal mucosa. A biopsy of the lesion and a mycological examination revealed Paracoccidioidesbrasiliensis infection.
Falc?o,José Luiz Cirqueira;
Análise Social , 2005,
Abstract: this article analyses exchanges between brazil and portugal, demonstrating the shifts, the complexities and the dynamic nature of this process. the conflictual nature of inter-ethnic relationships built up through significant cultural practices help to consolidate identity-forming processes linking the general with the locally specific, with individuals directing and seeking meaning in their own lives, even if they are subject to the structural constraints which influence specific cultural production.

PERIODIZA O DE APARECIDA DE GOI NIA: DA FORMA EMBRIONáRIA àS NOVAS FUNCIONALIDADES NO ESPA O FRAGMENTADO

Potential drug interactions in intensive care patients at a teaching hospital
Lima, Rhanna Emanuela Fontenele;Cassiani, Silvia Helena De Bortoli;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692009000200013
Abstract: this study assessed potential drugs interactions in intensive care patients at a university hospital in ceará, northeast brazil. of 102 patients studied, 72.5% were exposed to 311 potential drug-drug interactions; 64% of them were females aged 60 years or more and hospital stay was at least 9 days. a statistically significant association was found between number of drugs used and the occurrence of drug interactions. a total of 1,140 drugs were scheduled to be administered concomitantly; of these, 74% had potential for drug interactions. as for the classification of these events, 48.2% had a pharmacokinetic profile; 55.4% were of slow onset; 54.7% had moderate severity; and 60.6% were well-documented in the literature. the most common clinical action taken was "to monitor signs and symptoms". nursing staff can perform 80% of preventive actions to avoid undesirable effects of drug interactions. however, nurses need to have adequate knowledge about drug action mechanisms and triggering factors associated to drug interactions.
Solu??o simultanea de problemas logísticos de localiza??o de depósitos e centraliza??o de estoques
Pacheco, Ricardo Ferrari;Cirqueira, Luciano Zorzett;
Produ??o , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65132006000300010
Abstract: the elaboration of an efficient distribution strategy involves steps like determination of warehouse number and its location, the strategy of inventory products allocation in each warehouse and elaboration of routes for products distribution, from warehouses to points of sale. due the complexity involving each one these steps, decisions have been done in a hierarchical and sequential way. this traditional approach conduces to sub-optimal solutions, since the problem is divided in sub-problems and each sub-problem solution affect the others. this paper proposes a single model for solve the warehouse location and centralization of inventories problems in a simultaneous mode and proposes a heuristic algorithm for the problem based on evolutionary approach. proposed model was applied on a real problem involving the re-planning of a drugstore network, showing its technical viability.
