Abstract: Adolescence constitutes a stage of changes and strong social pressures among peers, to adjust to a standard of beauty in which the perception of body image is of great relevance in comprehensive health behaviors as well as a risk factor for eating disorders. Regarding problem that is our interest to know (Body Image), we use a gender focuses, as the transversal analytical axis of the study, as well as the study of a region with a strong presence of Maya-speakers. Methodology: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study conducted on 1432 high school students in the eastern part of the state of Yucatan, using a self-administered questionnaire (BSQ and SFS scales), with the prior informed consent of parents and participants. Results: It was obtained that 66.5% of the students are satisfied with their body image, and 32.7% are dissatisfied. It was obtained by means of the Kappa index that the perceptions of the body image of the studied students vs the desired body image have a moderate concordance. Significant differences on mean on dissatisfaction with their image were found between men and women p ≤ 0.001. Conclusions: In the area studied it is shown that gender constitutes a risk factor in which the condition of being the social pressure to adjust to beauty models, impacts regardless of the rural, urban or local culture, in this case of the Mayan zone.

EVALUATION OF THE USABILITY OF MOBILE COMPUTER SYSTEM FOR EDUCATIVE ADVISING IN THE UNIVERSIDAD AUTóNOMA INDíGENA DE MEXICO

Ra Ximhai , 2011,
Abstract: Tests of evaluation and functionality of a system computer denominated FoldMobile in la Universidad Autonoma Indigena de Mexico (UAIM) have taken place. This system provides with sufficient information to carry out the pursuit of the learning of student when it takes place the actual interaction of the adviser and the student in any place of the university campus and within an atmosphere totally disconnected of any network of devices used for storage. For it one has settled in a digital personal assistant (PDA). The purpose of the tests is to measure its usability and to carry out a redesign of the system being used for it the methodology based on users. Especially the propose heuristic evaluation by Nielsen through its ten rules. An experiment was carried out to evaluate the usability of the system and graphical interfaces to offer simpler solutions that they approach the mental models of the users and to ensure that the system is accepted and more used. The results gave the approval of the experts to the simplicity of the screens and the information presented/displayed through a consistent and familiar language but also suggested a redesign as far as the obtaining of aid of use of the system. In agreement with the results of the experiment the level of acceptance from the user was high, describing its experience like satisfactory, exciting and easy to use. The benefits are in cost and time of development of the system and more propitious conditions so that he is really used.

IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL LAND PROPERTY IN THE EXPANSION OF CITIES IN MEXICO
Jesús Bojórquez-Luque
Ra Ximhai , 2011,
Abstract: This paper analyzes the role of social ownership of land in the expansion of cities in Mexico, authorities and after the Article 27 constitutional reforms implemented in 1992. A review of the concept of city and urban sprawl, and the problem of the land market. Similarly examines the particularities of Latin American and Mexican cities that are characterized by traits of marginality and settlements in a large mass of citizens who lack the resources to acquire a piece of land to build a home. In addition to this, we analyze the complex process of socially owned land including the growth of cities and from the existence of different types of property in the urban process that fosters the involvement of various agents to strengthen the overall process.

Prediction of Inelastic Response Spectra Using Artificial Neural Networks
Edén Bojórquez,Juan Bojórquez,Sonia E. Ruiz,Alfredo Reyes-Salazar
Mathematical Problems in Engineering , 2012, DOI: 10.1155/2012/937480
Abstract: Several studies have been oriented to develop methodologies for estimating inelastic response of structures; however, the estimation of inelastic seismic response spectra requires complex analyses, in such a way that traditional methods can hardly get an acceptable error. In this paper, an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model is presented as an alternative to estimate inelastic response spectra for earthquake ground motion records. The moment magnitude (), fault mechanism (), Joyner-Boore distance (), shear-wave velocity (), fundamental period of the structure (), and the maximum ductility () were selected as inputs of the ANN model. Fifty earthquake ground motions taken from the NGA database and recorded at sites with different types of soils are used during the training phase of the Feedforward Multilayer Perceptron model. The Backpropagation algorithm was selected to train the network. The ANN results present an acceptable concordance with the real seismic response spectra preserving the spectral shape between the actual and the estimated spectra.

Abstract: the study of perceived thermal sensation in housing allows designers to set design guidelines for thermal occupancy based on the perception of the dwellers. previous research work suggests that the adaptation of people in hot climates is determined by preferences according to their socioeconomic and cultural class, based on their type of housing. a comparison is presented between two investigations into thermal comfort carried out in mérida, yucatán, méxico, in a warm humid climate. the dwellers were residents of self-produced economic housing. the adaptive approach was used, with the iso 10551 (1995) standard as a basis. dry bulb temperature, black globe temperature, relative humidity and wind humidity were monitored. the neutral temperature was estimated using the intervals means of thermal sensation method, and preference, acceptance and tolerance of thermal environment were compared. the results of both investigations show variations in the neutral temperature and thermal comfort ranges, as well as significant differences in the level of adaptation, experience and expectation, even when the thermal environment conditions present similarities.
