Basic methodological preconditions for high quality research
?evku?i? Slavica
Zbornik Instituta za Pedago?ka Istra?ivanja , 2006, DOI: 10.2298/zipi0602299s
Abstract: The paper considers basic methodological preconditions for the qualitative oriented research, in other words, the approaches which in the study of social phenomena rely on theoretical and methodological as well as epistemological premises of a new scientific paradigm. The paper draws special attention to the discussion of criteria of verifiability in qualitative research, which are significantly different from the criteria of positivist approaches. Interpretative research paradigms in social studies have a long history and numerous sources and the very concept of "interpretative shift" consists of a number of different research approaches unified under the name of qualitative methodology. The aim of the paper is not to prove that traditional and new paradigms and quantitative and qualitative research approaches based on them are incompatible in the process of discovering pedagogical reality. The intention is to demonstrate that the complexity of social phenomena requires a complex methodology meaning a complementary use of methods and techniques from both research approaches. The study of qualitative methodological approaches and their application in research, discovery and change of pedagogical reality are particularly important because they may provide new insights into pedagogical reality and a new view of old problems. .
?Por qué diferentes científicos interpretan la realidad de manera diferente?
Rasi,Humberto M.;
Enfoques , 2012,
Abstract: summary the answer to the question posed in the title is offered at three levels. at times the differences are due to the limitations of the equipment employed, deficiencies in the samples used, or bias in the interpretation of the data. at other times, the key factor is the paradigm on which the research is based. finally, disagreements can be caused by worldview differences; in such cases the cause is not scientific but philosophical in nature and can be attributed to the different presuppositions of the researchers. the essay contrasts the biblical-christian worldview, as understood by seventh-day adventists, and secular humanism, exploring their implications.
tudija paradigm raziskovanja v magistrskih nalogah s podro ja dru boslovja = A Study on Defining Research Paradigms in Preparing Master’s Theses from the Field of Sociology
Anita Trnav?evi?
Management , 2010,
Abstract: The requirement for completion of post-graduate, master and doctoralstudy programs is producing an individual thesis. For many students,this is the first step into research. The research question in this article,therefore, is how students in their master thesis define the paradigms.We found that in the sample the quantitative paradigm is prevailing,while the mixed methods design is present, yet both of them are seldomdefined.
Investigación cualitativa versus cuantitativa: ?dicotomía metodológica o ideológica?
González López,Juan Luis; Ruiz Hernández,Paloma;
Index de Enfermería , 2011, DOI: 10.4321/S1132-12962011000200011
Abstract: critical revision of the historical antagonism between qualitative vs. quantitative research in health sciences. we analyze the differences and inferences between both methodologies, concluding that quantitative/qualitative methods, as the etic/emic perspectives, the signs and symptoms, are orthogonal dimensions required to understand, so decipher reality as offering facts and meanings. however, in the her process of scientific construction, the nursing has chosen to oppose the differential qualitative fundamentalism versus biomedical quantitative orthodoxy. and although it is logical, it is still disturbing and counterproductive. after all, doctors and nurses have in common, against most of the sciences, the same object of study there isn't the regularity but the singularity of the disease and the individual. health research methodology shouldn't be done with qualitative methodology for being nurse or quantitative for being biomedical, but must be indebted to the investigation subject. the facts are quantifiable, but not their signification. and both are two sides of same coin, dimensions of reality to which we can only approach from a proper perspective: to the facts quantitatively, qualitatively to their significance.
Pragmatism: Philosophical platform for mixed methods research
Eva Slo?ilová
Pedagogicka Orientace , 2011,
Abstract: The paper aims at presenting the philosophy of pragmatism as an epistemologicalframework for mixed methods research. The author starts with briefcharacteristics of this relatively recent approach to research in the social sciences anduses Morgan’s clarification of the genesis of metaphysical“ paradigm for qualitativeresearch as a platform for analysing the main reasons why mixed methods researchhas been strongly criticized and refused. Then she shifts her attention to classicalpragmatists – W. James, J. Dewey and Ch. S. Pierce, and makes an attempt to showmixed methods research as a legitimate approach to research in the social scienceshaving equally important status as quantitative or qualitative research. In order to proveher point, the author gives a detailed analysis of the pragmatists’ theory of inquiry, theirunderstanding of truth, experience and other philosophical categories. She concludesthat mixed methods research has great potential to solve research questions whosesolution proves impossible for rigid advocates of either of the two currently dominantapproaches.

Cinta de moebio , 2008, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-554X2008000300004
Abstract: this essay argues that research programme methodology helps to clarify social scientific knowledge rationality showing theories plural characteristics. each research programme progress if develops more theoretical and empirical content that its competitors, according to the methodological rules from the philosophical core that gives its identity and heuristic power to that specific research programme. the research programme methodology (rpm) gives assessment criteria to theory sets, allowing the formal solution to incommensurability. therefore, rpm presents heuristic advantages that suggest considering sociology as a multi programme field.
Análise dos periódicos Brasileiros de contabilidade
Oliveira, Marcelle Colares;
Revista Contabilidade & Finan?as , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-70772002000200005
Abstract: the objective of this research was to analyze the characteristics of brazilian accounting periodicals and the articles published in them. our analysis revealed that, in the brazilian accounting periodicals, the observation of internationally recognized standards for the presentation of periodicals, quires and articles is still in its initial stage.the survey of the articles published between 1990 and 1999 in five brazilian accounting periodicals that were selected on purpose revealed that most of the authors are lecturers, which demonstrates that the universities still originate most of the accounting research. the fact that most of the authors have a post-graduate degree was considered a strengthening factor of the importance of these communication vehicles and their contents for the national scientific community.the five thematic areas with the highest number of works are, successively, management accounting, financial accounting, accounting theory, accounting education and research and cost accounting. the main themes dealt with in the periodicals demonstrate a change in the accounting paradigm, emphasizing the importance of management accounting and research on this theme, as well as the researchers' interest in subjects related to it. however, it was perceived that there is still a lack of research in current and important themes such as international accounting, capital market accounting and social and environmental accounting. in summary, the production of higher-quality accounting research and periodicals constitutes a challenge to brazilian accounting scientists for this millennium.
