Lílian Rose Maia Gomes, Luis Alexandre Ribeiro da Rocha, Sonia Maria Soares Ferreira, Renata Sampaio Rodrigues Soutinho, Euclides Maurício Trindade-Filho
World Journal of Neuroscience (WJNS) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/wjns.2016.62013
Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effects of prenatal and postnatal stress on the sexual behavior of rats. Methods: Thirty-two 2-month-old male Wistar rats were divided as follows: the EG Group (comprised of 10 rats whose mothers underwent gestational stress), the EO Group (11 rats subjected to postnatal stress), and the SE Group (control group, comprised of 11 animals that went through no stress whatsoever). Upon reaching adulthood, these male rates were introduced to females and had their sexual behavior assessed based on the number of mounts. Results: The animals from the EP Group showed significantly fewer mounts (74 ± 24.77, p < 0.05) when compared to those from the EG (108.9 ± 35.27) and SE (99.6 ± 20.76) Groups. Conclusion: The rats that underwent stress during the first days of life mated fewer times than those whose mothers were subjected to stress during pregnancy. The latter had their sexual behavior unaltered.

World Journal of Neuroscience (WJNS) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/wjns.2018.82023
Abstract: Introduction: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the second most frequent cause of death in the world. Nevertheless, most victims do survive and need treatment, and hand function is one that has to be dealt with in the rehabilitation process. Kinesio®?Taping (KT) is a bandaging method that can be applied along the muscle fibers to provide stimulation. Studies have shown its efficacy in providing afferent stimuli to weakened muscles, thus eliciting contraction with greater recruiting of motor units and inducing neuroplasticity. Benefits to the paresthesia hand have not been reported. Objective: Investigate the effects of KT on hand function in hemiparetic patients. Material and Methods: An evaluator-blinded, randomized clinical trial involving stroke victims was carried out in a physical therapy outpatient clinic. One group underwent KT intervention and the other was a control group. The Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) and the Box and Block Test (BBT) were used as assessment tools. A data entry form was used in the Epi-info 7 software and descriptive statistics was thus calculated. The software BioStat 5.0 was employed when doing statistical tests. Associations were regarded as statistically significant when p < 0.05. Results: Eight individuals were randomly assigned to two groups. All those who had received treatment with KT had spasticity improved by one point, but there was no significant improvement in BBT. Conclusion: KT was effective when it came to improving spasticity and it may be an option in rehab, but it had no effect on gross manual dexterity. Nevertheless, it can be of help as part of a functional training program.
Pneumonias de repeti??o em paciente com deficiência de anticorpos e imunoglobulinas normais
Jornal de Pneumologia , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-35862002000300008
Abstract: the authors report the case of a 7-year-old girl, with a history of recurrent respiratory infections since five months of age. immunological evaluation at four years of age revealed a normal level of total serum immunoglobulins, but a deficient humoral response to streptococcus pneumoniae. although having all normal igg subclasses, the patient had inadequate antibody levels to all serotypes tested (1, 3, 5, 6, 9, and 14). concurrent radiological evaluation showed diffuse atelectasis and bronchiectasis. patient was started on ivig, and subsequent chest ct scan revealed resolution of the above-mentioned lesions. to prevent irreversible damage to lung parenchyma, due to recurrent lower respiratory infections, it is important to identify immunocompromised individuals and treat them accordingly.

Anais da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz , 1981, DOI: 10.1590/S0071-12761981000100008
Abstract: mature fruits of mango 'paheri' were treated immediately after harvest with ethefon at 0 - 250 - 500 - 1.000 and 2.000 ppm. fruit ripening was accelerated by all treatments , the time to maturity being reduced from 48 to 72 hours, when compared with controls. maturation was evaluated, by external colour of fruits, soluble solids and acid contents.
Propaga??o da uvaieira (Eugenia uvalha camb.) através da enxertia por garfagem
Sampaio, Vladimir Rodrigues;
Anais da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz , 1983, DOI: 10.1590/S0071-12761983000100004
Abstract: grafting of uvalha, by whip or tongue, cleft and kerf methods were done on seedlings plants of the same specie and resulted in 56.7; 45.5 and 52.2% of takes respectively. there were not differences among the methods and the general average was 51 of success. the scion plastic coverage was taken off after 90 days, and this premature action resulted in 14.3% of losses.

In Psychology, the branch of studies about moral development, from a psychogenetic perspective, began with the 1932 book Moral Judgment of the Child. In this book, Jean Piaget refers to a set of experiments demonstrating that morality and acquisitions in the cognition and affective field are related. Nowadays, this field of studies has grown constantly and produced new theories and intervention accounts in the scope of moral education. The objective of this paper is to present a brief overview of the main psychological theories that deal with moral development, demonstrating some interventions and arguing that education is a privileged space for the development of social moral awareness which has not been duly used to advantage in Brazil.

Abstract: This work investigated the beliefs and the use of mother language in the teaching of English language. Cook (2001), Auerbach (1993), Atkinson (1987) suggest that the mother language should be used to facilitate the foreign language learning in a moderate way. This work had the objective of identifying the beliefs of students and teachers about the use of mother language and the circumstances in which it was used. This research was conducted through questionnaires, narratives, observation and recording classes. The results suggest that the mother language should be used as a last resource to assist the foreign language learning.
