Juliana Santini e Rejane Cristina Rocha
Signótica , 2009, DOI: 10.5216/sig.v21i1.8614
Abstract: This article promotes a compared analysis between “O caso da vara” e Quincas Borba, by Machado de Assis, observing the way by wich satire and humor are inserted in the aesthetic project of the author, especially in the configuration of a “realism of evaluation”. Narrator and focalization construct a critical dimension by the mean of the comical forms mentioned, visualizing the “minor social interval” that, in according to Alfredo Bosi, characterizes Brazilian Realism under Machado de Assis.

Abstract: The teaching of mathematics involves logical and abstract reasoning that is often associated with belief, prejudices and difficulties. Therefore, students can develop an aversion to this science. This scenario may be even more complex when it involves blind students. However, creative didactic and pedagogical practices can help to deconstruct such adversities. The aim of the study was to test if eight workshops that were carried out the making four origami pieces (a small Box at it covers, a Rabbit face, and a “Bandeirinha de São João”-small flag of St. John party) could promote the construction of knowledge about geometry in 14 blind students. These students from the sixth to ninth year of elementary school are regularly enrolled of Benjamin Constant Institute, RJ, Brazil, and intend the after class. Eight workshops with 100 minutes each were conducted in September and October 2015 (n = 4) and in March and April 2016 (n = 4). Among eight paper types offered for students to make origami the kinds, we identified that the papers denominated waxed and sulfite were those who favored the realization of folds while Kraft one facilitated favored the discovery of the folds. On average, the questions concerning the geometric shapes and their elements obtained by the origami were answered correctly by eight students both for making the Box and its cover; as for the Rabbit face, and by ten students for making of small flag of St. John party. These results demonstrated the effectiveness of origami to teaching math to teenagers blind students.

Abstract: objective: the objective aims at evaluating the impact of a minimum program of supervised physical exercise on functional capacity and cardiometabolic risk (cmr) in patients with morbid obesity. material and methods: by studying cases with pre and post analyses, we have assessed the variations in weight, functional capacity and in cmr, due to the program of supervised aerobic exercise on a weekly intensity of 30 minutes during a period of 6 months. results: we have studied 61 subjects, where 34 have only adhered to the intervention. there were significant changes in weight (-5.3 ± 5.3 kg, p < 0.0001), distance in the 6-minute walking test (69.8 ± 48.6 m, p < 0.0001), systolic pressure (-23.8 ± 27.7 mmhg, p < 0.0001), diastolic pressure (-14.4 ± 8.9 mmhg, p < 0.0001) and framingham score risk (-4.4 ± 5.1, p < 0.0001) in the adherent patients. conclusion: the results show that a supervised exercise program of low intensity and frequency might interfere positively on cmr in individuals with morbid obesity.
Dengue antibodies in blood donors
Ribas-Silva, Rejane Cristina;Eid, Andressa Ahmad;
Revista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia , 2012, DOI: 10.5581/1516-8484.20120048
Abstract: background: dengue is an urban arbovirus whose etiologic agent is a virus of the genus flavorius with four distinct antigen serotypes (denv-1, denv-2, denv-3 and denv-4) that is transmitted to humans through the bite of the mosquito aedes aegypti. the campo mour?o region in brazil is endemic for dengue fever. obtective: the aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of igg and igm antibodies specific to the four serotypes of dengue in donors of the blood donor service in the city of campo mour?o. methods: epidemiological records were evaluated and 4 ml of peripheral blood from 213 blood donors were collected in tubes without anticoagulant. serum was then obtained and immunochromatographic tests were undertaken (imuno-rápido dengue igm/iggtm). individuals involved in the study answered a social and epidemiological questionnaire on data which included age, gender and diagnosis of dengue. results: only three (1.4%) of the 213 blood tests were positive for igg anti-dengue antibodies. no donors with igm antibody, which identifies acute infection, were identified. conclusions: the results of the current analysis show that the introduction of quantitative or molecular serological methods to determine the presence of anti-dengue antibodies or the detection of the dengue virus in blood donors in endemic regions should be established so that the quality of blood transfusions is guaranteed.
