Crescimento do fungo simbionte de formigas cortadeiras do gênero Acromyrmex em meios de cultura com diferentes extratos

Abstract: As formigas cortadeiras mostram preferência por algumas espécies vegetais, as quais s o constantemente desfolhadas, enquanto outras n o s o atacadas, embora sejam abundantes e localizadas próximas ao ninho. As formigas dos gêneros Atta e Acromyrmex cortam plantas e transportam peda os para os formigueiros. O material vegetal é usado para o cultivo do fungo Leucoagaricus gongylophorus, do qual se alimentam. Vários trabalhos utilizando extratos de plantas têm sido realizados para avaliar o efeito sobre o desenvolvimento do fungo simbionte. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência de meios de cultura acrescidos de diferentes extratos sobre o crescimento do fungo L. gongylophorus. Fungos das espécies Acromyrmex ambiguus, Acromyrmex crassispinus, Acromyrmex heyeri e Acromyrmex lundi foram inoculados nos meios ágar Nutritivo e BDA, ambos acrescidos de mela o e de extratos de azevém (Lolium multiflorum Lam.), tifa (Typha angustifolia L.) e formiga (Atta sexdens piriventris). O meio Pagnocca foi utilizado como padr o. As placas foram mantidas em camaras climatizadas à temperatura de 25 + 1degreesC e escotofase de 24 hs, por um período de 49 dias. O crescimento fúngico foi avaliado com base no diametro da col nia, sendo este avaliado em intervalos semanais, totalizando sete avalia es. Também foi avaliado o peso seco do fungo aos 53 dias. Os resultados mostraram que o fungo cultivado por diferentes espécies de formigas tem crescimento diferenciado em meios de cultura com diferentes extratos.

Abstract: the present research was aimed at verifing the effect of different periods of ultraviolet light on the development of the symbiont fungus of leaf cutting ants belonging to the species acromyrmex ambiguus, acromyrmex crassispinus and acromyrmex lundi, through the aflp technique. the fungus were inoculated in pagnocca's medium and maintained in climatized cameras at 25 + 1°c and 24 hours of darkness, for a period of 15 days. after that, they were exposed to ultraviolet light for 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 minutes. at 45 days after the treatment, the extraction and standardization of dna was performed. pcr reactions were tested using 24 aflp primer combinations, from which four were selected because they presented larger polymorfism and consistence. the molecular data were transformed in binary mattrix and analyzed by the statistical program ntsys v. 2.1. the four combinations of primers generated 152 polymorfic bands. the fungus populations from different acromyrmex species presented a medium genetic similarity of the 37%, and the mutations induced by the ultraviolet light allowed to obtain more dissimilar isolates.

Abstract: the cutter ants show preference for some vegetable species, which are constantly defoliated, while others are not attacked, although they are abundant and located close to the nest. the ants of the goods atta and acromyrmex cut plants and they transport pieces to the anthills. the vegetable material is used for the cultivation of the mushroom leucoagaricus gongylophorus, mushroom from of which theyfeed. several works using extracts of plants have been accomplished to evaluate the effect on the development of the mushroom symbiont. the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of added culture means of different extracts on the growth of the l. gongylophorus mushroom. where mushrooms of the species acromyrmex ambiguus, acromyrmex crassispinus, acromyrmex heyeri and acromyrmex lundi were inoculated in the means nutritious ágar and bda, both added of molasses and extracts of lolium multiflorum lam., typha angustifolia l. and ant (atta sexdens piriventris). the pagnocca medium was used as pattern. the plates were maintained in cameras acclimatized to the temperature of 25 + 1°c and 24 hours of darkness, for a period of 49 days. the fungal growth was evaluated with base in the diameter of the colony, which was accomplished with weekly intervals, totalizing seven evaluations. also the dry weight was evaluated from the mushroom to the 53 days. the results showed that the mushroom cultivated by different species of ants has differentiated growth in culture means with different extracts.
Pareamento de fungos cultivados por diferentes espécies de formigas cortadeiras no Rio Grande do Sul

Abstract: this research work had as objective to study the possible heterokaryosis occurrence through the fusion of mushrooms originating from nests of different species of cutter ants collected in different areas of the state of rio grande do sul, using the aflp technique. ten fusion groups were accomplished, from which two did not perform a colony coalition. after the fusion occurred, disks of mycelium of the colonies intersection area and fusion external areas were collected, the extraction of dna and standardization was performed. pcr reactions were tested using 21 aflp primer combinations, from which three were selected because they presented larger polymorphism and consistence. the molecular data were transformed at binary head office and analyzed by the statistical program ntsys v. 2.1. the three combinations of primers generated 245 polymorphic bands. the average similarity of the genotypes varied from 0.03 to 0.18 in all the fusions. the large genetic distance found among the organisms possibly happened due to three factors: the possible heterokaryosis occurrence among the mushrooms; the use of mushrooms originating from different species of ants and; from different areas. this work suggests that the heterokaryosis can represent an important role in the life cycle of this mushroom, since it multiplies by clonal propagation and due to the absence of fructification.

Abstract:

This article presents the results of a research about the implementation of sex education in the public schools of Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 124 teachers from 56 public schools. The Discourse of the Collective Subject method was applied to analyse the interviews. The results show that sex education is not a crosscutting theme in schools, and that it is mostly dominated by the biomedical discourse. This means that non-heterosexual practices and identities are neglected and that representations of gender and sexuality that reproduce and legitimate gender disparity are accentuated.

Abstract:

Studies comparing preferred partner selection between homosexual and heterosexual women have shown that homosexual women exhibit patterns of choice that resemble both the heterosexual men and heterosexual women. This intersection between groups indicates that some characteristics valued by women may be intermediate between homosexual men and heterosexual women. This selection appears to be influenced by the type of relationship of the individual. Heterosexual women emphasize preference for characteristics related to physical health in short-term relationships. In long-term relationships, the emphasis is on the characteristics of good provision of resources and emotional investment. This study aimed to compare the preferences of the two groups of women in partner choice in the types of relationships mentioned. The participants were 100 homosexual and 55 heterosexual women in reproductive period. A questionnaire was used to collect information. The participants were contacted by indication, in LGBT bars or associations. There were similarities between groups with regard to the choices they made. The Macro-category attachment formation was requested more in the long-term and good genes was more appreciated in the short term. However, in both short and long term relationships homosexuals appreciated good genes more than heterosexuals. Heterosexual women valued good provision of resources more in long-term relationships. The reasons for these differences could be several, starting from social aspects all the way up to biological ones.

Predicting of the Fibrous Filters Efficiency for the Removal Particles from Gas Stream by Artificial Neural Network  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, artificial neural networks are used for predicting single fiber efficiency in the process of removing smaller particles from gas stream by fiber filters. For this, numerical simulations are obtained of a classic model of literature for fiber efficiency, which is numerically solved along with the convection diffusion equation in polar coordinates for particle concentration, with associated initial and boundary conditions. A sufficient number of examples from two numerical simulations are employed to construct a database, from which parameters of a novel neural model are adjusted. This model is constructed based on the back propagation algorithm in order to map two features, namely Peclet number and packing density, which are extracted from the numerical simulations into the corresponding single fiber efficiency. The results indicate that the developed neural model can be trained in a reasonable computational time and is capable of estimating single fiber efficiency from examples of the test set with a maximum error of 1.7%.

Abstract: This study aimed to assess academic management actions facing the set of professional competencies that graduates from an Accounting Sciences course need to graduate. To this end, we carried out a qualitative descriptive study. Data were collected through interviews and analyzed using content analysis. We found that the set of graduates’ professional competencies concerning organizational, technical-professional and social spheres requires academic management actions such as: 1) democratic governance and collective development of a curricular pedagogical project; 2) establishment of places for interaction between fields/disciplines (structuring teaching core); 3) use of conflict management strategies; 4) activities that favor professional ethics; 5) activities that favor leadership, commitment and trust; 6) curriculum flexibility; 7) strategic planning and evaluation of actions; 8) professional self-development. Activities and mechanisms that encourage the participation of all those involved in decision-making characterize democratic management and academic management’s leadership. We conclude that democratic-participative management may favor professionals’ graduation processes in the contemporary world, and may be a way of ensuring the development of students’ cognitive, operational, social and moral competencies, through their commitment to curriculum dynamics, to the development of thought and creation processes, to the establishment of participatory citizenship and to ethical education.

Abstract: spodoptera frugiperda is considered one of the main pest in corn and irrigated rice (fall armyworm) crops, causing high leaf losses. the objective of this study was to obtain an appropriate artificial diet to rear the biotypes "corn" and "rice" of s. frugiperda in laboratory. the insects were collected in areas cultivated with corn and irrigated rice in the meadow ecosystem and the identification was accomplished by the analysis of the dna genomic. the development of the two biotypes was accompanied on greene's diet and the same diet modified to 25 ± 1oc, ur of 70 10% and fotofase of 14 hours. the study was accomplished with 150 larvae by diet individualized in glass tubes containing artificial diet. at emergency 20 couples were individualized and fed with aqueous solution of honey to 10%. the greene diet made possible better development of the two biotypes, providing larger development speed, larger weight of larvae in the maximum development, weight of pupas and total fecundity, besides higher values of the net reproductive rates, intrinsic and finite rates of increase.
