Sustainable Employment Opportunities in Governments in India and Public and Financial Sectors  [PDF]

Abstract: Thousands of annual employment opportunities are available in the Governments of India and states like former Andhra Pradesh, and the public and financial sectors. This paper summarizes the types of jobs available for fresh graduates by broad categories. It also explores emerging employment opportunities in India in specific selected public sectors, and the economy in general. It briefly outlines the minimum educational qualifications, entrance/application procedures, etc. for jobs in central and state governments. These are based on the relevant information available from various secondary sources and on relevant internet sites and public advertisements. It concludes with the suggestion that fresh graduates in India, encouraged by their teachers and employment counsellors, may need to explore more sustainable employment in government and public sectors.

Abstract: An experimental work on distributed temperature sensing making use of the fiber Bragg grating (FBG) array sensor for possible applications in the monitoring of the temperature profile in high temperature boilers is presented. A special sensor has been designed for this purpose which consists of four FBGs (of wavelengths λ B1 =1545.8 nm, λ B2 =1547 nm, λ B3 =1550.8 nm, λ B4 =1555.5 nm at 30 °C) written in the hydrogen-loaded fiber in line. All the FBGs are encapsulated inside a stainless steel tube using the rigid probe technique for avoiding micro cracks. The spatial distribution of the temperature profile inside a prototype boiler was measured experimentally both in horizontal and vertical directions employing the above sensor, and the results are presented. Further, the finite element simulation has been carried out by using ANSYS R11 software to predict temperature contours in the boiler, and the experimental and predicted results were found to be closely matching.

Abstract: Infections at the surgical site delays wound healing, prolongs hospitalization, increases morbidity and the overall costs. These issues are compounded when the postoperative infection is culture-negative. This article outlines the general principles of managing postoperative surgical site infections, with an emphasis on culture-negative infections. Practical issues, in the absence of positive culture are discussed, together with practice points to minimize the incidence of culture-negative surgical site infections.

Abstract: Aluminum 6061 alloy metal matrix composites (MMCs) reinforced with four different weight fractions of (Al2O3 + red mud) particles up to 10 wt% were fabricated by a vortex method. The effects of reinforcement content on the mechanical properties of the composites such as hardness and tensile strength were investigated. The density measurements showed that the samples contained little porosity, and the amount of porosity in the composites increased with increasing weight fraction of particles. Scanning electron microscopic observations of the microstructures revealed that the dispersion of the particles was uniform with small clusters at some places and porosity. The results showed that the hardness and the tensile strength of the composites increased with increasing weight fraction of particles.

Associations between Purine Metabolites and Clinical Symptoms in Schizophrenia

Abstract: Background The antioxidant defense system, which is known to be dysregulated in schizophrenia, is closely linked to the dynamics of purine pathway. Thus, alterations in the homeostatic balance in the purine pathway may be involved in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Methodology/Principal Findings Breakdown products in purine pathway were measured using high-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with a coulometric multi-electrode array system for 25 first-episode neuroleptic-na?ve patients with schizophrenia at baseline and at 4-weeks following initiation of treatment with antipsychotic medication. Associations between these metabolites and clinical and neurological symptoms were examined at both time points. The ratio of uric acid and guanine measured at baseline predicted clinical improvement following four weeks of treatment with antipsychotic medication. Baseline levels of purine metabolites also predicted clinical and neurological symtpoms recorded at baseline; level of guanosine was associated with degree of clinical thought disturbance, and the ratio of xanthosine to guanosine at baseline predicted degree of impairment in the repetition and sequencing of actions. Conclusions/Significance Findings suggest an association between optimal levels of purine byproducts and dynamics in clinical symptoms and adjustment, as well as in the integrity of sensory and motor processing. Taken together, alterations in purine catabolism may have clinical relevance in schizophrenia pathology.
Influence of Cr3+ Ion on the Dielectric Properties of Nano Crystalline Mg-Ferrites Synthesized by Citrate-Gel Method  [PDF]

Abstract:

Mixed Mg-Cr Nano ferrites having the compositional formula MgCrxFe2-xO4 (where x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.0) were synthesized using Citrate-Gel auto combustion method. Structural characterization was carried out by XRD Analysis which confirmed the formation of single phase cubic spinel structure without any impurity peak. The dielectric properties such as Dielectric constant (ε'), Dielectric Loss tangent (tan δ) and AC conductivity (σAC) of Mg-Cr nano ferrites were studied at room temperature in the frequency range of 2 Hz - 2 MHz using Agilent E4980A Precision LCR meter. The dielectric constant, loss tangent and AC conductivity shows a normal behavior with frequency. A qulitative explanation is given for composition and frequency dependance of the dielectric constant, dielectric loss tangent and AC conductivity of the nano ferrite. The loss tangent for the synthesized samples was found to be decreased from 0.09 to 0.054 in higher frequency region showing the potential applications of these materials in high frequency micro wave devices. Characterization of Chromium Substituted Cobalt Nano Ferrites Synthesized by Citrate-Gel Auto Combustion Method  [PDF]

Abstract:

Co-Cr nano-ferrites, having the chemical formula CoCrxFe2-xO4 (where x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9 and 1.0), were synthesized by the Citrate-gel auto combustion method. Synthesized powders were sintered at 500°C for 4 hours in an air and were characterized by XRD, SEM and EDS. XRD analysis showed cubic spinel structure of the ferrites and the crystallite sizes (D) were found in the range of 6 - 12 nm. The values of lattice parameter (a) decreased and X-ray density (dx) increased with the increase of Cr content. Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) studies revealed nano crystalline nature of the samples. An elemental composition of the samples was studied by Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). The observed results can be explained on the basis of composition and crystal size.

Abstract: The novel 2-[(E)-2-aryl-1-ethenyl]-3-(2-sulfanyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-5-yl)-3,4- dihydro-4-quinolinones (4a-j) analogs were synthesized by Knoevenagel condensation of a solution of 2-methyl-3-(2-sulfanyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-5-yl)-3,4-dihydro-4-quinazolinone (3) with aromatic aldehyde in presence of catalytic amount of piperidine. Compounds (4a-j) showed significant biological activity against all the standard strains. All the synthesized compounds were characterized on the basis of their IR, 1H NMR, MASS spectroscopic data and elemental analyses. All the compounds have been tested for antimicrobial and antifungal activity by the cup-plate method.
