Abstract: our purpose was evaluate the present, through the case study, where we analyzed the program of the discipline of topographical anatomy and we interpreted the extension, depth and adaptation of these contents, starting from the observance of the interest or not of minister, as base for the clinic, surgery, technologies and others areas of performance in the generalist veterinarian graduation, where the anatomy makes herself present. we tried more and more to contemplate on the context of such teaching in relationship to the demands of the labor market, to thedemands competitive and unstable. through the documental analysis and interviews structured, we arrived to a consent that would be necessary to adapt the information among the basic and professional cycles, to implant a form of active education, where the student builds its learning and evaluation, using a pedagogic proposal that includes the educational technologies and the university extension.

Carvalho, Raquel;Machado, Isabel Cristina;
Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042006000300013
Abstract: rodriguezia is distributed throughout tropical america, comprising nearly 40 species, most of them little known regarding floral biology and pollination. rodriguezia bahiensis is endemic to northeastern region of brazil, it bears flower features that suggest pollination by butterflies and bees. however, the population studied is associated to a large array of visitors, including bees, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds and acroceridae flies, the last group being for the first time recorded as pollinators in orchidaceae. flowers offer low quantities of nectar as reward that together with the nectar guides imitating pollen suggests the occurrence of a combined system of reward and deceit of pollinators. though population studied is associated with a high number of visitors, natural fruit set is low (6.57%) may be due to high frequency of pillagers and possible self-incompatibility in the studied species.

Martelli, Raquel Cristina;Traebert, Jefferson;
Revista Brasileira de Epidemiologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-790X2006000100011
Abstract: objective: to find out the prevalence of and factors associated with backbone postural changes in 10 to 16 year-old schoolchildren of tangará, sc, brazil. methods: a cross-sectional study was carried out. clinical physiotherapeutic examinations and interviews were performed. students' weight and height were also collected. students' age, education and dominance, as well as schooling of parents and family income were asked during the interview. chi-square and fisher's exact test were used to observe the associations between study variables. results: the prevalence of backbone postural changes was 28.2%. the two most frequent changes were high concavity with 20.3% and high kyphosis with 11.0%. shorter height students showed a higher prevalence of backbone postural changes. moreover, shorter height and lower body weight were statistically associated with a higher occurrence of high concavity. conclusions: the prevalence of backbone postural changes was 28.2%. individuals with lower height and body weight showed a higher prevalence of backbone postural alterations.

Valentini, Nadia Cristina;Saccani, Raquel;
Revista Paulista de Pediatria , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-05822011000200015
Abstract: objective: to translate, adapt and verify the validity of the motor criteria and the construct (internal consistence, discriminatory validity, correlation with other tests and predicted validity) of the portuguese version of the alberta motor infant scale. methods: cross-cultural validation study that enrolled 21 professionals and 561 children from the south of brazil aged zero to 18 months (291 boys). the alberta infant motor scale, the developmental scale of child behavior and a questionnaire to control variables were used. alberta infant motor scale was translated, adapted and the content validity was analyzed. professionals were then trained and the data were collected in daycares and participants' home. scale's objectivity, reliability, criterion and construct were analyzed. results: the portuguese version of alberta infant motor scale contained clear and pertinent motor criteria; it was reliable (total score, p=0.88; prone, p=0.86; supine, p=0.89; sitting, p=0.80 and standing, p=0.85), it had discriminative power (typical versus atypical development; score, p<0.001; percentile, p=0.04; classification criteria, chi-square: p=0.047) and, also showed temporal stability (p=0.07; rho=0.85; p<0.001) and predictive power (p<0.001). the scale was moderately correlated with the developmental scale of child behavior (rho=0.342; p=0.03), considering that the mcnemar-bowker proof showed differences between both methods (p=0.047). conclusions: the portuguese version of alberta infant motor scale showed validity and reliability. it is a suitable tool for the assessment of motor acquisitions of brazilian children, being valuable for researchers and practitioners.
A educa??o infantil descobrindo a língua inglesa: intera??o professor/aluno
Carvalho, Raquel Cristina Mendes de;
Trabalhos em Linguística Aplicada , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-18132009000200009
Abstract: this study reports on an ethnographic investigation about the interaction between a teacher and her very young learners (vyl) in the english as a foreign language (fl) classroom. in order to carry out this investigation, data were collected in a private kindergarten school, by means of video recordings of classes and field notes from the teacher and from an observer. as ellis (1997) states as caretakers tend to modify the way they speak to children when these ones are learning the mother language, so teachers do modify their speech when communicating with learners. the results of this study may contribute to make teachers of vyl aware of the role of teachers' discourse as a facilitator of understanding in interactions in the fl classroom.

Estimating the nursing staff required in a new hospital
Rossetti, Ana Cristina;Gaidzinski, Raquel Rapone;
Revista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-11692011000400021
Abstract: opening a new hospital poses a complex and consequential set of challenges. one of these challenges is to estimate the nursing staff. the aim of this article is to report the entire process adopted to estimate the required nursing staff for a new hospital in brazil. the nursing staff was projected according to the brazilian federal nursing council (cofen). we applied an equation to estimate nursing staff and compared the results with two other existing hospitals. a significant difference (p<0.05) was observed when comparing the nurse-license practice nurse ratio recommended by cofen between the new hospital and other hospitals. this statistical difference is mostly due to reduced nurse staff in intensive care units. almost one year after the hospital opened its doors, it is necessary to review nursing staff hours with the real information to reinforce the expenditure on these personnel and to evaluate the decisions made so far.
