A simple convergent solver for initial value problems
Rafael G. Campos,Francisco Dominguez Mota
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: We present a stable and convergent method for solving initial value problems based on the use of differentiation matrices obtained by Lagrange interpolation. This implicit multistep-like method is easy-to-use and performs pretty well in the solution of mildly stiff problems and it can also be applied directly to differential problems in the complex plane.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2014.524375
Abstract:
Peach trees are temperate climate fruit trees most planted in subtropical and tropical regions. This advance of the peach crop is mainly due to the introduction of less cold-demanding new cultivar varieties and which require using less specific techniques, such as plant growth regulators and pruning. Within this context, the objective of this work was to evaluate phenological aspects and the yield potential of the cultivars Granada, Aurora-1, Dourado-2, Douradao, Big-Aurora, Marli and Chiripá, grafted onto the “Okinawa” rootstock, planted in the region of Sao Manuel-SP, during two cultivation cycles. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 5 replicates, with the experimental unit represented by two plants.”Granada” had early harvest in mid-September, and “Chiripá” in late November and early December, in which the former was the early-ripening cultivar and the latter was the late-ripening one. “Aurora-1” and “Dourado-2”, had the highest yield values, 18.95 and 16.57 t·ha-1 respectively, followed by “Big-Aurora” with yield values of 12.13 t·ha-1. For subtropical regions, such as São Manuel-SP, less cold-demanding cultivars are recommended, such as Aurora-1, Dourado-2 and Big-Aurora. The planting of early- and late-ripening varieties, such as Granada and Chiripá, respectively, is an interesting alternative for producers wanting to scale their production.
Quadrature formulas for integrals transforms generated by orthogonal polynomials
Rafael G. Campos,Francisco Dominguez Mota,E. Coronado
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: By using the three-term recurrence equation satisfied by a family of orthogonal polynomials, the Christoffel-Darboux-type bilinear generating function and their asymptotic expressions, we obtain quadrature formulas for integral transforms generated by the classical orthogonal polynomials. These integral transforms, related to the so-called Poisson integrals, correspond to a modified Fourier Transform in the case of the Hermite polynomials, a Bessel Transform in the case of the Laguerre polynomials and to an Appell Transform in the case of the Jacobi polynomials.
Reactivity of glycerol/acetone ketal (solketal) and glycerol/formaldehyde acetals toward acid-catalyzed hydrolysis

Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50532012000500019
Abstract: the effect of temperature, molar ratio and catalyst loading on the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of glycerol/acetone ketal (solketal) and glycerol/formaldehyde acetals was studied. the reactivity of the solketal was significantly higher than the glycerol/formaldehyde acetals. at 80 oc, 5:1 water/ketal molar ratio and 3.0 mmol of catalyst loading (amberlyst-15) the hydrolysis of the solketal was almost complete, whereas the glycerol/formaldehyde acetals showed around 40% conversion. the higher reactivity of solketal toward hydrolysis is associated with the formation of a tertiary carbocation intermediate, whereas in the case of glycerol/formaldehyde acetals hydrolysis takes place through direct nucleophilic displacement. dft theoretical calculations of the relative stability of the ketal and acetal isomers, having five and six-membered rings, explain the experimental distribution.

Objective: To determine through of Amsel’s criteria, the presence of bacterial vaginosis in patients and to define the colposcopic aspects most frequent of this pathology. Jornal Vascular Brasileiro , 2013,
Abstract: During an ordinary dissection, a cadaver showed a bilateral anomalous origin of the deep brachial artery, where this vessel appeared like a branching of the subscapular artery with common trunk, which included the posterior circumflex humeral artery. The course and distribution of the deep brachial artery in the back compartment were relatively consistent with previous reports. Arterial variations can be damaged through iatrogenic means if not properly documented. The knowledge of this case is very important in clinical medicine and in surgeries in this compartment to prevent any injury.

The microbiological contamination of soil by pretreated domestic sewage was analyzed. An experiment featuring randomized block design (RBD) with three replicates was undertaken. The treatments comprised: T – non-irrigated soil; MC - soil with fresh water; MR - soil with 350applications of wastewater. Soil samples were collected one day after the last effluent application of effluent so that microbiological analysis would be undertaken. Results show that the contamination of soil surface by fecal coliforms in the case of MR was minimum and without any risk to health human. Absence of contamination was reported up to 1,00 m depth.
