Abstract:
The jealousy is a reaction to a real or imagined threat perceived at an estimated relationship. The jealousy is present to a greater or lesser extent in all at some point in life. This study aims to understand how jealousy is experienced by homosexual couples, identifying if such mechanisms are similar or different of the heterosexual jealousy. To address this objective, we performed a systematic review of the literature on this subject. It can be observed that jealousy is present in affective-sexual gay relationships, being a protective factor for the maintenance of the loving relationship minimizing the risk of sexual and emotional loss. It highlighted the need for new issues to understand the homosexual jealousy can be more damaging relationships than in heterosexual jealousy and identify if cultural conditions affect the manifestation of it among homosexuals.

Abstract:

Objective: The present study aimed to investigate and to compare the electrophysiological changes in bipolar patients and healthy subjects during the execution of a saccade task. Materials and Methods: The subjects had to respond to a fixed visual stimulus presented by a LEDs bar. We executed an ANOVA (one-way) and post hoc Scheffé test to examine the difference of absolute alpha power and reaction time among four groups: control, depression, manic and euthymic. We observed the frontal, parietal and occipital regions. The paired t test was realized on each electrode and group to compare the pre and post moment in the task. Results: We observed a statistical difference among the groups for the behavioral variable—saccade reaction time. For the electrophysiological variable—absolute alpha power, we did not find significant difference between the moments (pre and post stimulus presentation) for none of the electrodes of each bipolar group. However, the results pointed out to a difference between the moments for F3, P3, O1 and O2 electrodes for control group. Conclusion: We cannot affirm that the task influences the cortical activity of the patients. It is possible that the method used to analyze the data is not the adequate. The time-frequency analysis could be better to analyze the present data. We also observed that the absolute alpha power could be considered a marker of bipolar disorder, but not of the different states (i.e., mania, depression, euthymia).

Avalia??o da patência nasal após rinoplastia através do espelho de Glatzel

Abstract: introduction: objective evaluation of nasal function is a constant challenge for plastic surgeons, otolaryngologists, and allergists. the modified glatzel mirror can evaluate nasal expiratory flow; however, there is little information on this method and its use in the measurement of nasal patency after surgical procedures. objective: to compare, in a prospective study, the functional results before and after cosmetic rhinoplasty and evaluate the use of the glatzel mirror as an objective method to assess nasal patency. methods: to achieve this objective, we analyzed the functional results of surgery through a subjective questionnaire and objective evaluation through a modified glatzel mirror, and evaluated the correlation between the 2 methods. twenty patients (14 women and 6 men) underwent aesthetic rhinoplasty using spreader grafts. pre- and postoperative evaluation (90-120 days) included a respiratory quality score (subjective) and modified glatzel mirror test (objective). subsequently, the spearman test was used to compare the pre- and postoperative subjective and objective data. results: the subjective evaluation demonstrated a statistical difference between pre- and postoperative scores (8 ± 2 and 9.4 ± 0.7, p< 0.001). there was no statistical difference in mean nasal patency by modified glatzel mirror. no statistically significant correlation was observed when comparing the modified glatzel mirror values with the subjective scores reported by patients pre- or postoperatively. conclusion: the glatzel method lacks sensitivity in detecting patient-reported improvements in breathing following rhinoplasty. this suggests that the method is a poor assessment tool to detect small, post-surgical changes in the nasal airways.

Scientia Iuris , 2000,
Abstract: Usually the legislator controls a specific subject through a complementary law, although it can be done through a ordinary law, which is different concerning the legislative process, mainly on the quorum matter. A law with these characteristics must be considered complementary law, so that its modification is only possible by a norm on the same level. According to the principles of “more value legitimatory” and liberty of conformation of the legislator in his legislative activity.

Abstract: introduction: garlic has a wide range of actions, including antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoal and anthelmintic actions. this antiparasitic activity has been attributed to allicin, which is the main constituent of garlic. the present study aimed to investigate the in vitro activity of allicin on the tegument of adult schistosoma mansoni worms using scanning electron microscopy. methods: swiss webster mice were infected with s. mansoni cercariae (100 per mouse) and sacrificed 50 days later to acquire the adult worms. these worms were collected by perfusion and placed in rpmi medium 1,640 at 37°c before transferring to rpmi media containing 0 (control), 5, 10, 15 and 20mg/ml of allicin, where they were incubated for 2h. the worms were fixed in 2.5% glutaraldehyde solution, washed twice, post-fixed in osmium tetroxide, washed twice and then dehydrated with ascending grades of ethanol. the samples were air-dried, mounted on stubs, gold coated in an ion sputtering unit and viewed using a scanning electron microscope. results: a concentration of 5mg/ml caused wrinkling in the tegument; a concentration of 10mg/ml resulted in changes to tubercles and loss or modification of spines. with 15 and 20mg/ml increasing damage to the tegument could be seen, such as vesicle formation and the presence of ulcers. conclusions: these findings demonstrate the effect of allicin on adult s. mansoni worms and indicate that most of the changes occur at concentrations greater than that normally indicated for treatment.

Abstract: the article analyzes to what extent the introduction of a new building technology in a construction production process can cause accidents. through a case study the authors demonstrate how the introduction of a new kind of propping for ribbed concrete slabs, used to improve quality and productivity, exposes workers to new risks and may cause accidents. the gap between the workers' experience acquired in a previous situation and the new work experience, which has not been fully developed, originates these accidents. the new slab mould propping system was introduced presuming it would demand only specific technical knowledge (straighten up, lining up etc.) however, work ergonomic analysis has shown that accidents happen because workers have not yet developed the necessary caution awareness to face new risks.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence ofantibodies anti-Neospora caninum and anti-Leptospira interrogansin dairy cows from Goiandira, Goiás State, Brazil. Serum samplesof 53 dairy cows from two herds were assayed for anti-N. caninumantibodies using an indirect immunofluorescent antibody test (IFAT)and microscopic-agglutination technique (MAT) for L. interrogansagglutinins. Sera reacting at dilutions ≥ 1:50 and ≥ 1:100 wereconsidered positive for N. caninum and L. interrogans antibodiesrespectively. It was found that 35.9% (14 cows) of the samplesfrom Farm 1 and 64.3% (9 cows) from Farm 2 were positive forN. caninum. For L. interrogans, 87.2% (34 cows) from Farm 1 and64.3% (9 cows) from Farm 2 were positive. The serovars foundedwere: wolffi (21.74%); hardjo (18.11%); bratislava (14.49%);australis (12.32%); tarassovi (12.32%); icterohaemorrhagiae(7.25%); sentot (5.80%), grippotyphosa (5.07%); patoc (2.17%);cynoptero (0.72%). According to the results, it was possible toconclude that neosporosis and leptospirosis are endemic in dairycows and may also be a significant animal and human healthproblem in Goiandira, GO, Brazil.
