Hybrid PCA/SVM Method for Recognition of Non-Stationary Time Series

Abstract: A SVM (Support Vector Machine)-like framework provides a novel way to learn linear Principal Component Analysis (PCA), which is easy to be solved and can obtain the unique global solution. SVM is good at classification and PCA features are introduced into SVM. So, a new recognition method based on hybrid PCA and SVM is proposed and used for a series of experiments on non-stationary time series. The results of non-stationary time series recognition and prediction experiments are presented and show that the method proposed is effective.

Abstract:

In order to solve complex algorithm that is difficult to achieve real-time processing of Multiband image fusion within large amount of data, a real-time image fusion system based on FPGA and multi-DSP is designed. Five-band image acquisition, image registration, image fusion and display output can be done within the system which uses FPGA as the main processor and the other three DSP as an algorithm processor. Making full use of Flexible and high-speed characteristics of FPGA, while an image fusion algorithm based on multi-wavelet transform is optimized and applied to the system. The final experimental results show that the frame rate of 15 Hz, with a resolution of 1392 × 1040 of the five-band image can be used by the system to complete processing within 41ms.

Research on the Operational System of Drought Monitoring by Remote Sensing in China

Abstract: VCIcomputed from NDVIis a recommendatory index usually used in drought monitoring by remote sensing, but it could be different criterion on scaling the drought severity in different region. It is more important to get an objective scaling method forVCIthanVCIitself. By analyzing the historic data (1981-1994) of NOAA AVHRR NDVI(resolution of 8 km) and soil humidity (-20cm) observed by 102 permanent agro-meteorological stations in the whole China, the statistical models have been made out between the vegetation condition index (VCI) and the soil moisture index (SHI). The scales of VCIin determining the drought severity can easily form the ones of SHIin describing the drought through the models, so drought monitoring in every ten days is practical. Based on that, the operational system of drought monitoring by remote sensing in China has been developed , which can be used to monitor the occurrence of the drought in China for every ten days from March to September. It would be beneficial to policy-maker for disaster reduction.

Abstract: In order to improve the bending strength of mullite ceramic thin tiles, SiO2-ZnO-Na2O-Y2O3 glass was prepared on the surface of the tiles. The influences of the thermal properties and thermal expansion coefficient of the glass and the sintering temperature on the structure and the property of the composites were investigated by differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Raman and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The bending strength of the composites was measured with an universal testing machine. Results show that the crystallization temperature of the SiO2-ZnO-Na2O-Y2O3 glass is higher than that of SiO2-ZnO-Na2O glass. The corresponding crystallites show more complex structure for the SiO2-ZnO-Na2O-Y2O3 glass. The thermal expansion coefficients of both glasses are lower than the mullite ceramic tiles. The bending strength of the composites after sintering at 1150°C was obviously improved by 10.7% to 106.2 MPa, compared with the mullite ceramic tiles.
Influence of S Contents on the Hydrogen Blistering and Hydrogen Induced Cracking of A350LF2 Steel  [PDF]

Abstract: In the present work, the effects of chemical compositions on the hydrogen blistering and hydrogen induced cracking of A350LF2 steel with different S contents were studied. Four types of A350LF2 steels were evaluated by immersing samples in H2S-saturated NACE solution. The hydrogen blistering, crack length rate(CLR), crack thickness rate(CTR) and crack sensitivity rate(CSR) were evaluated. The results show that there are many hydrogen blisters on the sample surface with S content of 0.021%, a few on the sample surface with S content of 0.019% and 0.012% and no one on the surface with S content of 0.002%. There were 12, 2 and 1 strips of cracks of longer than 0.3 mm on the evaluated cross sections with S content of 0.021%, 0.019% and 0.012%, respectively. There was no any crack in the sample with 0.002% S. The corrosion rate was also evaluated. The S content has no obvious influence on the corrosion rate.

Our results here show that the driven reconnection near the current sheet can occur within 10–30 min for the interplanetary high magnetic Reynolds number,R M =2 000– 10 000, the stable magnetic reconnection structure can be formed in hour-order of magnitude, and there are some basic properties such as the multiple X-line reconnections, vortical velocity structures, filament current systems, splitting and collapse of the high-density plasma bulk. These results are helpful in understanding and identifying the magnetic reconnection phenomena near the interplanetary current sheets.

A DS-AHP Approach for Multi-attribute Decision Making Problem with Intuitionistic Fuzzy Information

Abstract: A new method to solve multi-attribute decision making problem with Intuitionistic Fuzzy (IF) information is given here. This method is based on the Dempster Shafer-Analytical Hierarchy Process (DS-AHP) theory. The DS-AHP theory can solve a problem directly based on the decision matrix which is different from most of current methods. But in reality, the decision maker may provide several types of uncertain information such as fuzzy or interval values. So, the original DS-AHP method is combined with the IF information here. The expected utility is used to transform decision matrix with intuitionistic fuzzy information which is obtained from assessment. And then a non-linear optimization model is used to combine all the attributes. Using the combined results, the rank of the alternatives can be finally got. At the end of the paper a numerical example is studied to illustrate the details.
Mechanisms of bone anabolism regulated by statins

Abstract: Osteoporosis is a common disease in the elderly population. The progress of this disease results in the reduction of bone mass and can increase the incidence of fractures. Drugs presently used clinically can block the aggravation of this disease. However, these drugs cannot increase the bone mass and may result in certain side effects. Statins, also known as HMG-CoA (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA) reductase inhibitors, have been widely prescribed for CVD (cardiovascular disease) for decades. Nonetheless, several studies have demonstrated that statins exert bone anabolic effect and may be helpful for the treatment of osteoporosis. Several experiments have analysed the mechanisms of bone anabolism regulated by statins. In the present paper, we review the mechanisms of promoting osteogenesis, suppressing osteoblast apoptosis and inhibiting osteoclastogenesis.
Non-cooperative Game For Capacity Offload

Abstract: With the blasting increase of wireless data traffic, incumbent wireless service providers (WSPs) face critical challenges in provisioning spectrum resource. Given the permission of unlicensed access to TV white spaces, WSPs can alleviate their burden by exploiting the concept of "capacity offload" to transfer part of their traffic load to unlicensed spectrum. For such use cases, a central problem is for WSPs to coexist with others, since all of them may access the unlicensed spectrum without coordination thus interfering each other. Game theory provides tools for predicting the behavior of WSPs, and we formulate the coexistence problem under the framework of non-cooperative games as a capacity offload game (COG). We show that a COG always possesses at least one pure-strategy Nash equilibrium (NE), and does not have any mixed-strategy NE. The analysis provides a full characterization of the structure of the NEs in two-player COGs. When the game is played repeatedly and each WSP individually updates its strategy based on its best-response function, the resulting process forms a best-response dynamic. We establish that, for two-player COGs, alternating-move best-response dynamics always converge to an NE, while simultaneous-move best-response dynamics does not always converge to an NE when multiple NEs exist. When there are more than two players in a COG, if the network configuration satisfies certain conditions so that the resulting best-response dynamics become linear, both simultaneous-move and alternating-move best-response dynamics are guaranteed to converge to the unique NE.
