Abstract: agaricus blazei (murrill) ss. heinem. is a brazilian native mushroom which has called the attention of several researchers all over the world due to its nutritional and pharmacological properties. the objective of this study was to evaluate the genetic variability of some isolates commercially used, using rapd markers. nine isolates of a. blazei were analyzed, from different regions in the country, and two isolates of the a. bisporus, which served as control group. all of them are part of the collection of mushroom of the edible and medicinal mushroom laboratory of dbi/ufla. for rapd analysis, different random primers were used, generating 139 polymorphic bands. the genetic similarity evaluation was proceeded between the isolates by means of dice coefficient and grouping analysis through the upgma method. the results showed that from the 9 isolates of a. blazei, 6 (cs1, cs3, cs4, cs6, cs8 e cs9) have shown a high genetic similarity and these were considered isolates of the same origin or clones. the cs2 was the isolate which showed the higher genetic divergence in relation to the others, followed by the cs5 and cs7, with averages of 60.6%, 88.7% and 91.3% genetic similarity, respectively.

Abstract: By using lattice paths in the three-dimensional space we obtain bijectively an interpretation for the overpartitions of a positive integer n in terms of a set of plane partitions of n . We also exhibit two bijections between unrestricted partitions of n and different subsets of plane partitions of n .
Desenvolvimentismo e neodesenvolvimentismo: tragédia e farsa

Abstract: the pretension of the new developmentalism to plead the continuity of the old developmentalism has no objective foundation. the two expressions of economic thought correspond to different historical epochs and represent opposing sides of the ideological spectrum. when the new developmentalism identifies the contemporary reality of the brazilian economy with virtuous capitalist development, it reveals what it is really: an apologia for power. it is nothing more than a parochial effort to make up the old theory of modernization as a solution to the serious problems of the population living in the weak link of the capitalist world system.

Legal concerns for the elaboration of a contingency plan for oil spills in Brazil Issues related to the oceans assume vital importance for life on Earth. Environmental monitoring of prospection, exploration and oil transport is imperative in order to prevent and minimize oil and gas accidents. It is necessary to elaborate a Contingency Plan for oil spilling in the sea in the various exploration and production areas, with the collaboration of platform operators. Such strategies may be organized in two parts: the first one containing the plan’s documented policy, and the second presenting the operational plan. A good cooperation among those involved in the accident response plan is critical.

Abstract: it was evaluated the floristic similarity between two atlantic rainforest physiognomies in brazilian coast area, herein called restinga and lowland forests. the hypothesis was that, due the differences in geomorphologic processes, these forests would differ on soil physical and chemical properties, floristic composition, live above-ground biomass and litterfall production. it was sampled 1 ha (100 × 100 m) for each site located in ubatuba, s?o paulo state, se brazil. within each hectare it was recorded trees with dbh > 4.8 cm in all 10 × 10 m contiguous plots, and collected soil and litterfall samples. the cluster and ordination analyses indicated the two communities as distinct groups considering soil and floristic composition, agreeing with the initial hypothesis. species diversity was higher (p < 0.0001) in the lowland forest (h' = 4.00 nats.individual-1) than in the restinga (h' = 3.38 nats.individual-1). however, litterfall production and biomass did not differ (p > 0.05) between the two forests. this apparent paradox could be explained assuming that, since different species establish themselves in the restinga or lowland forests and find a favorable spectrum of conditions and resources, they would tend to persist and to develop in that place; even so the edaphic conditions differ between the restinga and lowland forests, each species could respond in a particular way to these variations, and then both forests could reach similar values of biomass and litterfall production. it is probable that the environmental filter conditioned by soils has being important for the strong floristic segregation between these two forests.

Abstract: In this paper we present combinatorial interpretations and polynomials generalizations for sequences including the Fibonacci numbers, the Pell numbers and the Jacobsthal numbers in terms of partitions. It is important to mention that results of this nature were given by Santos and Ivkovic in two papers published on the Fibonacci Quarterly, Polynomial generalizations of the Pell sequence and the Fibonacci sequence [1] and Fibonacci Numbers and Partitions [2] , and one, by Santos, on Discrete Mathematics, On the Combinatorics of Polynomial generalizations of Rogers-Ramanujan Type Identities [3]. By these results one can see that from the q-series identities important combinatorial information can be obtained by a careful study of the two variable function introduced by Andrews in Combinatorics and Ramanujan's lost notebook [4].

Pesquisa Florestal Brasileira , 2010, DOI: 10.4336/2012.pfb.57.57
Abstract: It is proposed a breeding strategy for eucalypt, which congregates in an individual desirable traits belonging to different species and capture the heterosis for growth, stemming from several pair of species of known heterotic behavior. Such strategy relies on obtaining two synthetic multi species populations and posterior reciprocal recurrent selection (RRS) between them. It is called reciprocal recurrent selection between synthetic multi species populations (RRS-SMSP) and improves the traits drought, disease resistance, volume, density, yield and lignin content. Options for making the synthetic multi species populations are presented. The RRSSMSP is suitable for applying the genomic selection.
