Synergies for Trains and Cars Automation in the Era of Virtual Networking  [PDF]
Francesco Rispoli, Alessandro Neri, Cosimo Stallo, Pietro Salvatori, Fortunato Santucci
Journal of Transportation Technologies (JTTs) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jtts.2018.83010
Abstract: The ERTMS (European Train Management System) has been developed by the European Union (EU) to enhance safety, increase efficiency and to cross-border interoperability creating a unique solution fulfilling a standardized certification process. The ERTMS being able to automatically stop the train to overcome human errors has achieved the highest track record in terms of safety over several billion km travelled each years. GNSS positioning, bearer-independent telecoms and ATO (Automatic Train Operation) are the new features for enhancing the ERTMS in the path to fully autonomous operations. In the same period, the automotive industry has launched ambitious plans for the connected cars and autonomous driving applications are emerging as the next wave of innovation. This paper evaluates the challenges to sharing intelligent infrastructure means, by combining the strengths of the safety benchmark achieved on the rail transport with the mass production capability of the automotive industry to lower the costs. In this scenario, rail and automotive becoming tightly intertwined can get a grip in the race towards a fully automation affordable and safe, giving birth to autonomous vehicles able to travel within virtual rails as “trains” on the road. To this aim we will introduce the two test bed in Italy respectively for validating the ERTMS with GNSS positioning and public telecoms networks and for testing FCA Ducato vans to operate at SAE level 3 automation exploiting the new GALILEO and 5 G services.

International relations and dissemination of the Commune in southern France from 12th to 13th century Les relations internationales et la diffusion de la commune dans le Sud de la France du XIIe au XIIIe siècle

Reti Medievali Rivista , 2003, DOI: 10.6092/1593-2214/275
Abstract: From the twelfth to the thirteenth century in Southern France several towns had an almost completely autonomous administration and own officials, just like the Italian Communes. At the same time economically active citizens established close ties with the Italian merchants. Which was the link between these phenomena? This essay tries to give an overview of the studies about the spread of the Commune in Southern France and to propose some perspectives in research.

Hypertext dedicated to the anthroponymic system in use in Pisa during the High Middle Ages. Text, images and graphics come from the revision, made by the author, of two essays published in "Melanges de l'Ecole Fran aise de Rome", respectively 106/2 (1994) and 107/2 (1995).
From Land art to the “global era”
Gaia Salvatori
JCOM : Journal of Science Communication , 2008,
Abstract: In the globalisation era, arts have provided food for thought on “how latitudes became forms”, to stress again that now, at global level, one should no longer define art as a contemplation “space”, but as an “environment”, a place for experience. On the other hand, already when Bern saw the inauguration of the historic exhibition “When Attitudes became Forms” in 1969, people realised that the problem was lying in the behaviour, in the attitude, of making arts towards the world. Basically, the formalistic concept of self-referentiality in a work of art was to be overcome, and attention was to be paid to procedures and contexts. In search of a new humanism in contact with the natural universe.

Stefan Problem through Extended Finite Elements: Review and Further Investigations
Luca Salvatori,Niccolò Tosi
Algorithms , 2009, DOI: 10.3390/a2031177
Abstract: A general review of the extended finite element method and its application to the simulation of first-order phase transitions is provided. Detailed numerical investigations are then performed by focusing on the one-dimensional case and studying: (i) spatial and temporal discretisations, (ii) different numerical techniques for the interface-condition enforcement, and (iii) different treatments for the blending elements. An embeddeddiscontinuity finite element approach is also developed and compared with the extended finite element method, so that a clearer insight of the latter can be given. Numerical examples for melting/solidification in planar, cylindrical, and spherical symmetry are presented and the results are compared with analytical solutions.
Cuerpo y espacio, estudio de la escena poética del texto Altazor de Vicente Huidobro y del montaje Un viaje en parasubidas
Salvatori Maldonado,Pía;
Aisthesis , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-71812012000100014
Abstract: altazor o el viaje en paracaídas is valued as a dramatic text, where an action is recognized and a subject realized. the poem naturally tends to the visual presentation of the situations described, situated especially in the linguistic framework and in the figurative body of the character. the stage is conceived under these characteristics, un viaje en parasubidas extols the visuals of the poem, the body and the gesture of the actor so as to present one of the many reading tones in elaborated in huidobro's poem. this paper proposes a parallel study of the poetic and theatrical scene from a common object, the body of a subject in scene.
