Residual Effects of the Organic Amendments Poultry Litter, Farmyard Manure and Biochar on Soybean Crop  [PDF]

Abstract: The use of organic wastes, as an alternative to inorganic fertilizer, can be an important strategy for Brazilian and tropical agriculture. Despite the importance, few field studies have been done for evaluating organic amendments on soybean crops in Brazil. The study aimed to evaluate the residual effects of the organic amendments poultry litter, farmyard manure and biochar combined with mineral fertilizer on some agronomic attributes of a soybean crop. A field experiment was carried out in a split-split-plot scheme, with three replicates in a randomized block experimental design. The organic sources (plots) at rates of 0, 3, 6 and 9 Mg·ha-1 (subplots) combined with 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg·ha-1 (sub subplots) of a mineral fertilizer were applied in 2008. In 2009, only the mineral fertilizer was used on the soybean crop. As a?result, all evaluated attributes were influenced by the treatments, except for the number of grains per pod. The application of poultry litter provided the highest yield (3715 kg·ha-1 using 9 Mg·ha-1 of the source). A synergistic effect between organic amendments and mineral fertilizer was observed. It was found the possibility of decrease doses of mineral fertilizers by prior use of organic amendments. The most effective dose combination application is 5.5 Mg·ha-1 of organic amendments associated with 200 kg·ha-1 of mineral fertilizer to provide optimum yield. The use of organic amendments, rich in nutrients, is a technology to sustainably increase the soybean grain yield.

Abstract: in order to generate information to help scientists technicians and producers in the determination of cultivars to be grown in summer in lavras region, the present work was carried out at the experimental area of federal university of lavras, lavras, mg, brazil on a red latosol (lvdf), in 2002/2003 crop season. the experimental design was composed in randomized blocks with three replications. the 45 cultivars (treatments) used in the experiment were: doko, pioneira, virtuosa, conquista, ft-104, monarca, monsoy 108, monsoy 109, ft-abyara, performa, lideran?a, monsoy 8400, confian?a, splendor, ufv-16, garantia, renascen?a, iac-19, ft-2000, iac-21, cac-1, monsoy 8411, suprema, seguran?a, aventis 7002, paiaguás, carrera, santa rosa, brs-celeste, dm 339, brs carla, brs milena, brs mg 68 (vencedora), br-9 savana, aventis 2056-7, stte 02, aventis 1043, monsoy 8866, monsoy 8329, monsoy 9010, embrapa 48, emgopa 313, emgopa 314, tucano, brs 136. all cultivars showed good grain yields, specially brs mg 68 (4395 kg.ha-1), paiaguás (3897 kg.ha-1), aventis 2056-7 (3780 kg.ha-1), monarca (3646 kg.ha-1) and ft 2000 (3498 kg.ha-1). soybean plant and first pod height, taken by harvest time, was in the range of 0,68m to 1,53 m and of 0,08 m to 0,29m, respectively. lodging indexes were also satisfactory for all cultivars tested. seed quality of the cultivars were evaluated and ranged from 1,0 to 2,3 in a 1-5 scale.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of increased application rates of potassium on the physiological quality of seeds from different soybean cultivars. Seeds from two locations (S?o Gotardo, MG and Lavras, MG, Brazil) were used. After harvest, the seeds were sent to the Central Seed Analysis Laboratory of the Federal University of Lavras. We used a randomized design in a 4 × 6 factorial arrangement of four cultivars and six doses of potassium. All tests were performed with two replicates of 50 seeds (300 seeds per treatment). Germination, emergence under controlled conditions, accelerated aging, electrical conductivity, and tetrazolium tests were performed. Data were subjected to analysis of variance. In soybean seed production fields with high potassium content in the soil, higher application rates of potassium do not increase the physiological quality of seeds.

Abstract: O desequilíbrio nutricional, principalmente dos micronutrientes, tem sido um dos fatores para perdas na produ o de sementes. Esses nutrientes desempenham papel em rotas bioquímicas que garantem a forma o de lipídeos, proteínas e ainda contribuem na estrutura o das membranas celulares. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da aplica o de Mn na folha e no solo, sobre o rendimento e a qualidade de sementes de soja, cultivares Conquista e Garimpo. A qualidade das sementes foi avaliada por meio de testes de germina o, envelhecimento artificial, condutividade elétrica, índice de velocidade de emergência e pela determina o dos teores de proteína e óleo. Verificaram-se aumentos na produtividade, na germina o, no vigor e nos teores de proteína e óleo das sementes e no teor de Mn na planta, nas duas formas de aplica o do Mn, com maior grau de eficiência da aplica o na folha.

Abstract: the search for new alternatives in order to increase soybeans productivity has been constant objective of researchers and farmers. the crop responses to phosphorus application in the soil are well defined, being this nutrient very important on its development and yield. the leaf fertilization on this crop appears as a new rationale option, mainly when the plant nutrient levels are low. so, this work aimed to study the effect of phosphorus leaf fertilization, applied at different plant stage, including: v5, r1, r4, v5 + r1, v5 + r4, r1 + r4, v5 + r1 + r4, v5 + r1 + r4 + r6 and test plot. the experiment was installed in a soybeans crop, monarca cultivar, at palmital farm, ijaci county, minas gerais state, brazil, using a totally randomized design, with 9 treatments and 3 replications. the chelate quimifol p30 in liquid form with 30% of the nutrient soluble in cna + water in the, with doses of 2 l. ha-1, was utilized as phosphorus source, using the applications performed with a constant pressure co2-nebulizer. the different epochs of phosphorous application significantly altered the grains yield, proportioning significant increases, up to 16% for the v5, v5 + r1, v5 + r4, v5 + r1 + r4, v5 + r1 + r4 + r6 epochs, when compared to the test plot, clearly expressing the positive effect of these applications at v5 stage. the plant height, first legume insertion, and lodging index characteristics were not significantly altered by the different epochs evaluated. it was observed significant response for the nutrient leaf amounts only in the case of k and zn indices, exclusively in the v5 + r4, and in the v5, v5 + r1 and v5 + r1 + r4 + r6 treatments, respectively.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate doses of foliar sulfur application on the accumulation of nutrients in the plant and on the productivity of the soybean crop. the experiment consisted of seven treatments using the product s300 (s=26%, density =1,16) with doses 1,0; 2,0 and 3,0 l./ha-1 and s800 (s=56%, density =1,43) with doses 0,5; 1,0 and 1,5 l./ha-1 , and a control, with all of the applications being carried out in r3 stage. the plots consisted of 4 rows with 5,0m in length, spaced at 0,50m, utilizing the two central rows. the productivity of the grains was altered significantly by the application of sulfur for treatments s300 2,0 and 3,0 l.ha-1 and s800 1,0 and 1,5 l.ha-1 that yielded 2641, 2636, 2621, and 2549 kg/.ha-1. with respect to nutrients, it was confirmed that the content of calcium and sulfur in the plants was high with the foliar application of sulfur.

Abstract: to evaluate the effect of sowing dates of hybrid silage sorghum volumax, an experiment was conducted on the campus of the universidade federal de lavras, lavras/mg, in two crop years 2006/07 and 2007/08. the design was to block the case, with five treatments and three replicates with five sowing dates (october 30, november 15 and 30 and december 15 and 30). we evaluated the yield of green mass, dry mass and crude protein and levels of p, ca, k, mg and s in forage. the results revealed a decline in forage yield with delayed sowing date. the sowing of december 30 provided lower levels of nutrients in forage sorghum.

Abstract: the nutritional unbalance, mainly with micronutrients, has contributed for losses in seeds yields. these nutrients are carrying out in biochemistry paths responsible for metabolism of lipids, proteins, and structure in cells membranes. the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of mn application (leaf or soil) on yield and seed quality of two soybean cultivars, garimpo and conquista. seed quality was assessed through germination test, accelerated ageing, electrical conductivity, emergence speed, protein and oil content. the application of mn in the soil or sprayed on the leaves increased its content in plant tissue, improved seed quality by increasing its protein and oil content as well as its germination and vigor. the mn sprayed on the leaves was more efficient than when this nutrient was applied in the soil.
Efeito de fungicidas sistêmico e protetores aplicados em diferentes estádios fenológicos no controle da ferrugem asiática da soja

Abstract: the aim of this work was to verify the effect of the fungicides dicopper chloride trihydroxide, thiophanate methyl, chlorothalonil+thiophanate methyl, chlorothalonil, and pyraclostrobin+epoxiconazole applied at the stages v6, r1, r5, v6+r1, v6+r5, r1+r5 on the control of the asian rust and on the agronomic characteristics of the soybean. the experiment was carried out at the experimental area of the agriculture department, federal university of lavras, lavras mg, brazil. significant effects were observed for all fungicides on asian rust control, in comparison with the control. the treatments with fungicide sprays pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole at the growth stage r1 provided the effective control of the disease, no significant differences were observed between v6 + r1 and r1 + r5. the sprays at r5 and v6 + r5 showed high disease severity however, with grain yield similar to the applications of the same fungicide at the stages r1, v6 + r1 and r1 + r5.

Abstract: the aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of kinetin and of potassium nitrate, applied on leaves in the phenological phase r3, on some agronomic characteristics of soybean plants and their yield in field. five concentrations of kinetin combined with four concentrations of potassium nitrate were used in an outline bi-factorial, in a randomized block experimental design, with three replications. the potassium nitrate application did not influence the studied agronomic characteristics. kinetin increased the pod set number up to 27.4%, in contrast to the control. kinetin increased the weight of 1,000 seeds and the yield up to 2.7 and 32.3%, respectively.
