Abstract: The feeding and oviposition behavior of boll weevil in new cotton cultivars is essential for an adequate management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the vertical distribution of squares punctured for feeding and oviposition of the pest in the cultivars NuOPAL, DeltaOPAL, FMT-701, FMX-910 and FMX-993, and record the most and least preferred times of feeding and oviposition. The number of squares used for boll weevil feeding and oviposition were evaluated weekly in three parts of plant canopy. It was observed that, regardless the cultivar, A. grandis preferred to lay eggs in squares located in the upper part and feed on squares in the middle and upper parts. The boll weevil preferred to feed on cultivar FMT-701 in the beginning of the period of cotton flowering and fruiting, and the cultivars NuOPAL, DeltaOPAL, FMX-910 and FMX-993 throughout the whole period of flowering and fruiting. A. grandis preferred to lay eggs on cultivars NuOPAL, FMT-701 and FMX-993 at the beginning and end of flowering and fruiting of plants, while the cultivars DeltaOPAL and FMX-910 are used for oviposition throughout the period of flowering and fruiting.

Abstract: acclimatization is a phase of micropropagation associated with frequent losses in plant survival. the in vitro culture conditions may determine in some species, the formation of plants with altered morphology, anatomy and physiology that affect their acclimatization. the objective of the present work was to evaluate the rate of plant survival during acclimatization of the prunus rootstocks capdeboscq and gf677, and the selections vp411 and vp417. shoots of 2-3 cm long were inoculated in rooting lepoivre medium supplemented with iba (0.1, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg.l-1). after 15 days, the plants were transferred to styrofoam trays with cells containing commercial mixed soil plantmax?. the trays were placed in plastic boxes closed with a transparent glass plate and maintained in acclimatization room in 27±1oc temperature, light period of 16 hours and 60mmol.m-2.s-1 of light irradiation, and then transferred to intermittent nebulization chamber. the plant survival rate was significantly affected for the iba treatments, genotype and genotype x iba concentration interaction. the best survival rates obtained were capdeboscq (92%) with 1.0 mg.l-1 iba, vp417 (80%) with 0.5 mg.l-1 iba, vp411 (84%) and gf677 (64%), respectively with 0.1 mg.l-1 iba. the callus formation on the basal region of explants negatively affected the plant survival.
A psicologia revisitada pela pragmática: subjetividade, conhecimento e método
Bendassolli, Pedro Fernando;
Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-79722002000200009
Abstract: the goal of this paper is to discuss contributions that could result from an appropriation of the neopragmatic philosophy of language for the analysis of theoretical and methodological assumptions of psychology, such as subjectivity, knowledge, and method. by means of a theoretical study, the concepts of representation, objectivity, and knowledge, and their relation to psychology are discussed. the paper also discusses the main characteristics of what is called, in philosophy, the metaphysics of subjectivity: a set of beliefes that implies the search for foundations, that is to say, the search for a state in which it is possible to apprehend the real essence of the things. the paper's main conclusion is the need for a wide redefinition and reevaluation of those assumptions in psychology that no longer correspond to the current phase of discussions concerning knowledge, scientific method and their relevance for the human community.

Abstract: organ donation is a problem of social and scientific relevance because it involves the ways through which life is perpetuated across another person?s body, specifically by its organs. what are resistance and facilitation factors to organ donation? this article proposes one factor of resistance and one of facilitation. the first, the narcissism of the own body; the second, the desire of perpetuate oneself and life.
Do lugar do corpo ao n?o-lugar da doa??o de órg?os
Bendassolli, Pedro Fernando;
Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-79722000000100015
Abstract: the psychological understanding of organ donation must be part of a broader reflection that includes an analysis of the scientific, cultural and medical practices within which the body is conceived contemporarily. thus, the main purpose of this study was to develop an analysis of the impact caused by organ donation on the relationship that a person establishes with the body, taken as an individual?s place, the center of symbolical, relational, identity, and historical crossings. a theoretical review was carried out to develop a conceptual basis for some of the body representations in our culture, especially the representations related to corporal technologies in medicine. this analysis suggested that organ donation is part of a practice that conceives the body as a non-place, that is, that divests the body from the symbolical meanings that designated it as the chanel for social relationships and the place of a human identity registry.

Bendassolli, Pedro Fernando;
Tempo Social , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-20702000000200014
Abstract: this paper discusses some of the expressions that characterize the individual in contemporary brazilian society, based on the conceptions of public and private life. the hypothesis, founded on two main reference sources, is that there are two important representations of the individual, and these are made known by the way that work, business enterprises, politics and the economy are structured. on the one hand, based on alain ehrenberg′s analysis, there is the conquering individual, typified by the search for excellence, competitiveness and trade rivalry, similar to business universe. on the other hand, according to robert castel, there is the unaffiliated individual, represented by the great number of people who lack social and economical acknowledgment.
La redefinición del vínculo juventud-política en la Argentina: un estudio a partir de las representaciones y prácticas políticas juveniles en la escuela secundaria y media
Nú?ez,Pedro Fernando;
Revista Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, Ni?ez y Juventud , 2008,
Abstract: in this paper, the author develops a type of analysis that intends to extricate a few traits that might allow a characterization of the ways in which the link between youth and politics is being currently redefined in argentina. it is expected that, in this way, the paper may contribute to the production of the state of the art of research on the youth condition and its representations and political practices in latin-america. in a first part, the present analytic work is situated in the dialogue with other researchers who have studied the traits of being young today. in a second part, the author studies the transformations that have occurred in argentina in the last few years in middle and high schools*, as well as in the political sphere. the analysis is structured on the role of family bonds in the decision to participate in politics; in the way violence is conceived-in particular, in the dislegitimation of political violence and in the emphasis on criminal violence and youth violence-and in the meanings that being in school has for youths. from these dimensions, the paper ends with an exploration of the political configurations that are being constructed in schools, understood as means of political socialization of youths.
