Monaliza Ribeiro Mariano, Lorita Marlena Freitag Pagliuca, Paulo César de Almeida, Wilson Correia de Abreu
Open Journal of Nursing (OJN) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojn.2014.410072
Abstract: Objective: To compare the learning of visually impaired individuals after the use of the educational game “Drugs: playing it clean”. Method: Quasi-experimental, comparative, before-after study. Results: The participants’ mean age in Brazil was lower than in Portugal; a significant difference in information acquisition was found between the pre and post-test for the low-complexity (Brazil p = 0.018 and Portugal p = 0.002), without a difference in the number of correct answers for the medium/high-complexity questions between the two countries (p = 0.655 and p = 0.0792); when comparing the number of correct answers before and after the game intervention, an increase was found in Brazil and Portugal, respectively (21.8% - 61.1%; 11.2% - 38.9%); a significant difference was found in the number of correct answers between the low and medium/high-complexity questions (p = 0.030). Conclusion: The educational game permits information access and can be used as a teaching-learning strategy.
O papel da informa??o no processo de capacita??o tecnológica das micro e pequenas empresas
Alvim, Paulo César Rezende de Carvalho;
Ciência da Informa??o , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19651998000100004
Abstract: the need to make information available to the production sector has led to reflections aiming at meeting those needs broadly in a knowledge society. this article focuses on the relevance of the availability of information process of technological qualification and innovation for small businesses, cation and mainly in view of current those businesses's economic and social significance. it includes by suggestion a few measures that shoulder pursued to expand the offer of information for small businesses.
Genetic improvement of vegetables: development of open-pollinated cultivars
Melo, Paulo César Tavares de;
Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-70332011000500015
Abstract: the estimated market value for vegetable seeds in brazil, based on prices paid by producers, reached around r$ 300 million in 2007. seeds from open-pollinated cultivars accounted for only 18 %. this data clearly indicates the changeover from open-pollinated to hybrid seeds in recent decades in the main varietal segments of the brazilian vegetable market. this lecture will outline a historical retrospective of the pioneer activities of genetic improvement of vegetable crops targeting open-pollinated cultivars in breeding programs conducted by the public universities and research institutes and their impact on the development of the brazilian horticulture. the current situation, challenges and future prospects will also be discussed.

Revista da Universidade Vale do Rio Verde , 2011,
Abstract: The unemployment rate is presented as a monthly index that follows a seasonal pattern. This work aimed to fit time series models to the series of unemployment rate in Recife's metropolitan region. We studied the effect of trend, seasonality and intervention factor in the analyses. Data were collected mensaly from January of 1991 toDecember of 2002. We noted that the series of unemployment rate are fitted by SARIMA models and the intervention factor gave us more information.

Modelamento da perda de qualidade de sementes de soja, em fun??o das condi??es iniciais e da atmosfera no armazenamento
Afonso Júnior, Paulo César;Corrêa, Paulo César;Queiroz, Daniel Mar?al de;
Revista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-43662000000300016
Abstract: in order to predict the germination potencial of soybean seeds of the santa rosa variety during storage, an experiment was conducted, the seeds with initial moisture content of 0.333 (dry basis) were dried under an air temperature of 30 oc and relative humidity of 40% until the moisture content of 0.111; 0.176 and 0.250 (dry basis) were reached. the seeds were conditioned in paper bags and maintained under different storage temperatures (5, 10, 20 and 30 °c). the seed viability was evaluated just after drying and every 10 days, during 60 days, applying the standard germination test. in general, for the majority of the tests, the temperature and the moisture content affected the seed germination during the storage period. however, for the storage temperatures of 5 and 10 °c the seeds maintained the viability at satisfactory levels, independently of the moisture content of the product. the experimental results of germination were evaluated by adjusting the data to the exponential and probit mathematical models. the results obtained in this work lead to the conclusion that the temperature and the moisture content of the stored soybean seeds affect their germination and that the exponential model better fits the experimental data.
A intencionalidade da consciência no processo educativo segundo Paulo Freire
Oliveira, Paulo César de;Carvalho, Patricia de;
Paidéia (Ribeir?o Preto) , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-863X2007000200006
Abstract: this study deals with the question of conscious intentionality in the educational process. the objective is to show that awareness, the final purpose of education, is only reached when man becomes conscious that he is in the world and with the world. the methodology used consisted of analysis of some paulo freire writings , which allowed us to perceive that it is in the praxis, that man really takes conscience. this process was called "awareness". it was perceived in this study, that a deep dependence exists between the awareness and educational processes and the concrete process of man liberation.

Revista Brasileira de Coloproctologia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-98802008000200017
Abstract: the parastomal hernia is a direct consequence of making the stoma. although all the efforts used in its prevention, this condition is a frequent long-term complication that increases with time. management of the hernia is always surgical and different techniques have been proposed. in this article, the authors present a brief revision of the surgical treatment and present their own technique. the defect is assessed by videolaparoscopy and correction is performed with an intraperitoneal mesh; we call this technique "tie knot". in our 17 patients' series, we observed good results and no recurrence until now.
Calagem e aduba??o fosfatada para forma??o de mudas de ara?á-boi
Macedo, Sheron Torres de;Teixeira, Paulo César;
Acta Amazonica , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0044-59672012000300013
Abstract: the araza (eugenia stipitata mcvaugh) is a fruit species cultivated in domestic scale in the amazon region. however, little is known about their nutritional needs during the initial phase. the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of lime and phosphorus on growth and nutrition of seedlings of araza. the experiment was conducted in greenhouse, with samples of a yellow oxisol dystrophic in randomized blocks and factorial scheme 5 x 5: five doses of lime (0, 1.37, 2.83, 4.29 and 5.75 g per seedling) and five doses of phosphorus (0, 100, 200, 400 and 600 mg p kg-1) with four replications. ten months after transplantation, the growth in height and diameter, shoot and root dry matter, and nutrient accumulation in the shoots were evaluated. lime rates significantly influenced the height, diameter, and shoot, root and total dry weight. the phosphorus levels affected only the growth in diameter and dry matter in shoot and total. there was a significant effect of lime and phosphorus on the content of macro and micronutrients in the shoot, except for cu, influenced only by limestone. the best development of araza seedlings can be obtained with application of up to 3.77 g of lime and 6.21 g of superphosphate per seedling.
