Abstract: the goal of this paper was to evaluate if losses in milk yield due to increase in somatic cells count are proportional or independent of the level of production. a total of 7,756 observations, monthly collected from a single herd from september/2000 up to june/2002, were used. the lactation curve was modeled by the incomplete gamma function, considering the effects of lactation order, calving season, peripartum disorder incidence and body condition score at calving. somatic cells count was added to the model as a multiplicative factor, representing relative losses, and as an additive factor, representing absolute losses. the best model was chosen based on the information criteria of schwarz (bic). the losses are absolute, becoming evident from 14,270 cells/ml, and they are 184 and 869 g/day for each increase of one unit in the natural logarithm scale, starting from that somatic cells count, for primiparous and multiparous cows, respectively.

Abstract: the relationship between milk somatic cells count (scc) and milk yield has been the aim of countless researches in several countries; however, in brazil, the literature related to this subject is scarce. therefore, the objective of this study is to verify if the losses in milk yield due to scc increase are proportional to the yield, or absolute (independent of it) and starting from which scc, the losses become evident. for this study, 13.725 observations were used, collected monthly from 6 different herds, from january/2001 up to june/2002. the analysis model, for lactation curve, was based upon the incomplete gama function, considering the effects of lactation order, herd and calving season. the scc entered in that model in two ways: as multiplicative factor (representing relative losses) and as addictive factor (representing absolute losses). the best model was chosen based on the information criteria of schwarz (bic). it is concluded that the losses are absolute, becoming evident from 17.000 cells/ml, and they are 238 and 868 ml/day for each increase of one unit in the natural logarithm scale, starting from that scc, respectively, for primiparous and multiparous.
"Novas" legitimidades de segmenta??o do mercado de trabalho de jovens diplomados
Marques,Ana Paula;
Revista Portuguesa de Educa??o , 2009,
Abstract: today as before, the dialectics of work and employment expresses profound contrasts. in this context, employability - understood as the probability both of accessing and staying in the labour market - plays with multiple aspects, which are not only linked with the individual and professional qualifications of those who look for a job, but also assume collective and unequal dimensions. the latter refers namely to the local inflexions of the macro-economical context within which the search for a job takes place, the human resource management strategies that companies resort to, and higher education as well as employment and training policies. in this article, based on the main results of diagnoses focusing on graduates and human resource managers, we will highlight the effects of the flexibility strategies adopted by companies considering the following dimensions: productive, training, functional, compensation, work schedule and type of contract. the "new" legitimacies that section these young executives are growingly based on the non-regulation of work relations and of the entrepreneurship policies adopted by most companies, exposing to a growing precariousness social groups that have invested on professional and academic formation, particularly in higher education. as a result, youngsters are confronted with the challenge of acepting uncertainty and using it as a real asset for action, that is, of gaining a certain identity (in)stability that may provide a sense of plausible biographic temporality. this includes internalising a culture of entrepreneurship and creative initiative resting on a high degree of transferability of the value of academic qualifications and of competencies and cultural orientations of superior technical-scientific training.

Revista da Faculdade de Letras : Sociologia , 2004,
Abstract: The text here presented gets back to the guidelines of some of the reflections derived from a research that was carried through a selected group of young graduates in Engineering. Here we intend to: i) highlight some of the processes of change related with the patterns of professional insertion of young graduates; ii) identify the factors underlying the segmentation of the professional markets and its effects on the increasing internal differentiation of this professional group and its effects on the criteria of identity classification and distinction mobilized by the youth in the beginning of a career; iii) contribute for the knowledge on the changes occurring on the representations and the meanings constructed around the diploma, the job and the profession.

Revista Brasileira de Educa??o Física e Esporte , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1807-55092012000200013
Abstract: the aim of this study was to analyze the effect of interception sports on the performance in of a complex anticipatory timing task in the elderly. the study included 73 participants divided into three groups: elderly athletes, elderly and young non-athletes. the task consisted in the execution of a sequence of touchs in four sensors, simultaneously to the lighting of diodes aligned in a groove, with the last touch matching the lighting of the last diode. we used three speeds of diode lighting (1 m/s, 1.5 m/s, 2.2 m/s), with ten trials for each speed. the performance was analyzed by calculating the constant error, variable error and absolute error. the results indicated positive effect of sports on the anticipatory timing performance in elderly athletes. there was also the effect of varying the speed of the stimulus, with the best performances of the groups at moderate speed.
Aglaenita (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Neocoelidiinae): a new species from Brazil
Marques-Costa, Ana Paula;
Zoologia (Curitiba) , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-46702011000100017
Abstract: aglaenita spinola, 1850 comprises fourteen species, all occurring in brazil, including a new species, a. hambletoni sp. nov., which is described herein. the genus is close to biza walker, 1858 and megacoelidia kramer & linnavuori, 1959. aglaenita hambletoni sp. nov. can be distinguished from other aglaenita species mainly by the characters of male genitalia, especially by the pygofer bearing an apical bifurcated process, the branches of the process pointed and sclerotized, the upper branch longer than the lower, tooth-like one; and by the aedeagus without processes and with the ventral margin without teeth. the diagnosis of the genus and the known geographical distribution of its species are also given
Natureza jurídica do mandado monitório
Vicente de Paula Marques Filho
Scientia Iuris , 1999,
Abstract: The study of the monitory procedure and the verification of the juridical nature of the injuctive court order, introduced in the Civil Suit Proceeding by the Law n° 9.079/95 from July 14, 1995, are the purposes of this work. As for the specific purpose of the work the conclusion in that the monitory court order, promulgated at first time, has juridical nature of a convictional veredict suspensively conditioned to the non opposition of embargoes, with competence for declaring the existence or inexistence of the controverted material juridical relation. The conclusions of the work are legitimate in face of the constitutional garantee of the due process of law, due to the broad possibility as reaction and defense garanted to the convict.
Transcendence Measures for some $U_m$-numbers related to Liouville's constant
Ana Paula Chaves,Diego Marques
Mathematics , 2009,
Abstract: In this note, we shall prove that the sum and the product of an algebraic number $\alpha$ by the \textit{Liouville constant} $L=\sum_{j=1}^{\infty}10^{-j!}$ is a $U$-number with type equals to the degree of $\alpha$ (with respect to $\mathbb{Q}$). Moreover, we shall have that $\max\{w^{\ast}_n(\alpha L),w^{\ast}_n(\alpha + L)\}\leq 2m^2n+m-1$, for $n=1,...,m-1$.
The Contribution of Waves in Mixing Processes of the Patos Lagoon Plume  [PDF]

Abstract: The analysis of wave effects above salinity is important in order to define mixing processes and their potential to change density gradients, since action in the region of the Patos Lagoon plume is highly dynamic. This paper aims to evaluate the influence of waves on the mixing pattern of the adjacent continental shelf. Constantly marked by tides and circulation variations, changing from flood to ebb tide, salinity stands as a major parameter for analysis. The study is based on hydrodynamic numerical modeling experiments using the TELEMAC3D model and waves generated by the wind using the TOMAWAC coupled model. The comparison between the situations considering the waves generated by the wind and without waves was made through time series analysis, stratification series, transversal cross sections, longitudinal cross sections, salinity mean fields and diagrams by Richardson and Brünt-V?is?l?s frequency parameters. With the cross sections analysis, the mixing effect generated by the waves was observed, demonstrating clearly that the waves were capable of raising the superficial salinity in regions far from the Patos Lagoon entrance, while at the entrance, the wave effects enhanced the mixing on the deepest layers, decreasing the saline intrusion and expanding the plume more radially on the surface. The space-temporal diagrams were effective to demonstrate the modulation effect of the waves over the salt mixing of saline waters, revealing that wave effects decrease the stratification as well as the Brünt-V?is?l?s frequency and increase the period of buoyancy, due to the mixing increase.
