Marinho, Paula Cambraia;Fontes, Dalton de Oliveira;Silva, Francisco Carlos de Oliveira;Silva, Martinho de Almeida e;Pereira, Francisco Alves;Arouca, Cláudio Luiz Corrêa;
Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982007000500011
Abstract: an experiment was conduced with the objective of evaluating the effects of diet formulation methods and supplementation of ractopamine (rac) on the performance and carcass characteristics of finishing barrows. sixty commercial hybrid swines were used, distributed in a randomized experimental block design, in a 2 x 3 factorial arrangment, with two levels of rac and three methods of diet formulation. supplementation with rac improved the final weight, daily weight gain (dwg) and feed conversion (fc) of the finishing barrows. addition of rac improved also the carcass characteristics by reducing the backfat thickness in point p1 and increase daily lean meat deposition rate. diets formulated based in the concept of ideal protein or by the increase of soybean meal provided better results on fc, but did not influence significantly daily feed intake, dwg and carcass characteristics. finishing barrows supplemented with rac during 21 or 28 days showed better performance and carcass quality. diets formulated to attend the levels of digestible lysine by the inclusion of l-lysine hcl with the adjustment of other amino acids for ideal protein relation (ideal protein) or by the greater inclusion of soybean meal (increase of cp) provided better results of feed conversion in finishing borrows supplemented with rac during 28 days.
Marinho, Paula Cambraia;Fontes, Dalton de Oliveira;Silva, Francisco Carlos de Oliveira;Silva, Martinho de Almeida e;Pereira, Francisco Alves;Arouca, Cláudio Luiz Corrêa;
Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982007000800012
Abstract: an experiment was carried out with the objective of evaluating the effect of different lysine levels in diets supplemented or not with ractopamine (rac) on the performance and carcass characteristics of finishing barrows. forty commercial hybrid swines were distributed to a randomized experimental block design, in a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement, with two digestible lysine levels (0.67 and 0.87%), with adjustment for the others amino acids to achieve an ideal protein relationship, and two levels of rac (0 and 5.0 ppm) in a period of 28 days. supplementation with rac resulted in a higher daily weight gain and of daily lean meat deposition rate, and better feed conversion. the lysine levels did not affect the performance of the animals, however there was a reduction of backfat thickness on p1 and p2 points and increased the daily lean meat deposition rate on the carcass of swine fed with diets containing 0.87% of digestible lysine when in vivo evaluated. in conclusion, performance and carcass characteristics of swine fed with diets supplemented with rac in the finishing phase improved; however the effect of rac on the loin depth was higher for the higher level of 0.87% of digestible lysine.

Abstract: this review presents natural, semi-synthetic and synthetic bioactive macrolactams and their structure-activity relationships when available. for macrolactams in clinical use the advantages and disadvantages in relation to other drugs are presented, and for synthetic macrolactams the method used in the cyclization is showed. regarding macrocyclic synthesis by the tri-n-butyltin hydride-mediated radicalar carbocyclization reaction the precursor, the reaction conditions, products and yields, mechanism and cyclization mode are discussed.
Cocate, Paula Guedes;Domingues, Sabrina Fontes;Natali, Ant?nio José;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências do Esporte , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-32892011000300018
Abstract: the aim of this review was to present and discuss the influence of exercise on blood concentrations of adiponectin and its association with insulin sensitivity. studies conducted over the past 10 years showed that acute exercise of high intensity causes a decrease in blood adiponectin concentrations without changing insulin concentrations. however, acute exercise of moderate intensity does not alter the blood concentrations of adiponectin, though it improves insulin sensitivity. chronic exercise, nevertheless, increases blood levels of adiponectin, improves insulin sensitivity but alters body composition in obese individuals. in normal weight individuals, however, the blood levels of adiponectin are not affected, despite the benefits of chronic exercise to body composition and insulin sensitivity.
Fontes,Ana Paula; Fernandes,Ana Alexandre; Botelho,Maria Amália;
Revista Portuguesa de Saúde Pública , 2010,
Abstract: the aim of this article is to present the international classification of functioning, disability and health (icf), which comprises the "family" of classifications of the world health organization (who). this classification offers a unified and standardized language, as well as a conceptual framework for describing the health and the health related states, setting out a valuable instrument of practical use in public health. the model is established with two main parts: the first part includes the functioning and disability with two components: a) body structures and function and b) activities and participation. the second part includes the contextual factors with two components: c) environmental factors and d) personal factors. the components are classified by categories, organized in a hierarchical structure of four levels. in this paper we analyze the conceptual framework and the structure of the icf, and we also describe the action lines for its dissemination and implementation.
Participa??o política, efeitos e resultados em políticas públicas: notas crítico-analíticas

Abstract: the paper discusses potential linkages between political participation and the distribution of public goods and services at the local level. it considers a relation between greater participation and a better performance on the offer of public goods by governments by analyzing variables associated to managerial aspects. the study was conduced in eight brazilian cities.
Naves, Santuza Cambraia;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69092000000200003
Abstract: the article analyzes styles of brazilian popular music that arose in the sixties, reading them in terms of continuity and discontinuity vis-à-vis bossa nova. the core argument is that, although the experiments in harmony of the bossa-nova musicians influenced a number of songwriters of the following generation, the latter broke with the aesthetics of restraint pioneered by the former, which was in keeping with various other cultural forms of the period, such as concrete poetry and oscar niemeyer's architecture. popular musicians of the later generation, from protest music to tropicália, returned to the traditional modernist view of brazil as an inexhaustible trove of cultural information, archaic and contemporary, regional and universal, and to the modernist aesthetics of excess.
Vaz, Alexander Cambraia N.;
Revista Brasileira de Ciência Política , 2013, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-33522013000100003
Abstract: the article assesses the average probability of individuals to take part in participatory processes in participatory institutions (pis), based on a set of socio-economic and political characteristics. from an universe of 2,200 individuals from all brazilian states, who have answered the questionnaire applied by vox populi institute, focused on the subject of social participation (a document written in collaboration with the minas gerais federal university - ufmg), characteristics were assessed from individuals that effectively take part in pis. that information was related to a set of socioeconomic and political profile variables. those variables are: nominal family income; schooling; sex; skin color; participation in associative activities; and region of brazil where they live. an analysis of descriptive statistics was conducted among the variables, trying to build statistical models to explain the dependent variable "insertion in participatory institutions' activities" (specifically, municipal management councils, participatory budget, theme conferences), using as a basis four specific theoretical models, namely: the model of centrality, the model of associativism, the model of rational choice, and finally, the institutional model or model of opportunity structures. results indicate that skin color, sex, schooling and previous involvement with associative and political activities play a crucial role in increasing that propensity, but their respective degrees of impact vary according to the participatory institution under consideration.
Aspectos psicobiológicos do comportamento alimentar
Cambraia, Rosana Passos Beinner;
Revista de Nutri??o , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-52732004000200008
Abstract: this review shows how some psychobiological aspects are related to feeding behavior manifestation, and has as it objective to provide evidence as to the relation between neuropsychological processes and nutritional neuroscience. several neural structures are associated with alimentary controls, which are distinct but correlated mechanisms; for example: hypothalamus, hypocampus, cerebellum, olfactory bulb, pituitary and pineal glands, all presenting distinct functions, but affecting feeding behavior directly or indirectly through common neurotransmitters. neurochemical precursors present specific functions and their influence on feeding is evident in behavioral food selection. the sensory processes in feeding, principally taste, olfaction, vision and hearing, interact with other neural structures and pathways, thus participating in appetite and satiety, which results in the beginning and end of feeding. the interaction between neural aspects concerning food consumption promotes the manifestation of specific feeding behavior for each specie in their environment.
