Diferentes substratos e ambientes para enraizamento de mini-ixora (Ixora coccinea 'Compacta')

Abstract: the mini-ixora (ixora coccinea 'compacta') is a species highly appreciated for use in tropical gardens. its propagation is made by cutting, however, its rooting percentage is very low so, the aim of this work was to evaluate substrates and environments for the mini-ixora rooting. apical cuttings with 10 cm of length were used in two substrates: sand and plantmax?. three rooting environments were used: wet chamber, greenhouse and conventional rooting (shade cloth with 50% of shade). the experiment was carried out by using split plots with three different environments in the main plot and two substrates in the subplots. one also used five replications and ten cuttings per plot. analyzing the results one hundred days after the experiment implantation one noticed that the sand had proportioned higher percentage of rooting (68%) compared to plantmax (48%). the wet chamber also was the environment that provided better conditions for the propagation of the mini-ixora, with the highest percentage of rooting, 98%, compared to the greenhouse, 66% and to the conventional rooting, 10%. moreover, sand and wet chamber also provided a better root quality. one concluded that the best substrate for mini-ixora propagation was sand and the cuttings should be placed in the wet chamber.

Abstract: the effect of ms medium, nitrogen and sucrose war investigated on "in vitro" propagation of shoot nodal explants of chrysanthemum (dendranthema grandiflora tzvelev.) cultivars orange reagen. ms medium was tested using the following concentrations: 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150% in combination with sucrose doses of: 0, 0.75, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0%. nitrogen was tested using the concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150% in combination with the sucrose doses used as above. best shoot development was observed when nodal segments were cultivated on medium containing concentrations between 50 and 150% of ms in combination with 6% sucrose. no satisfactory shoot length was observed when 50% ms was used. roots were not observed at concentrations above 100% of ms and nitrogen. in order to obtain successful "in vitro" propagation of chrysanthemum, our results suggest the use of 75% ms, with 75% of nitrogen and 6% of sucrose.

Abstract: floriculture is characterized by the cultivation of ornamental and cut plants (flowers and foliages), potted plants, whether flowering or not, and even the production of seeds, bulbs, palm trees, seedlings of trees, shrubs and other species for cultivation in gardens. so, with the aim at accomplishing a study of seedling production for garden in the state of minas gerais, a questionnaire was applied to the growers of the state of minas gerais, over the period of 2003 to 2005. the visits were paid in loco and the producers were identified by means of visits to the growing areas and the questionnaires were answered by them. by analyzing the answers contained in the questionnaires, it was identified that the production of garden seedlings in the state of minas gerais is a business carried out by 563 producers in a planted area of about 832.2425 ha.

Abstract: cut flowers are important products of brazilian floriculture. the characteristics of minas gerais production are, nevertheless, unknown. so, with the purpose of performing a study of the cut flower production in the state of minas gerais, a questionnaire was applied to flower growers of minas gerais state, in the period of 2003 to 2005. the visits were paid in loco and the growers were identified by means of visits to the flower-growing areas and the questionnaires were answered by them. by analyzing the answers contained in the questionnaires, it was identified that the cut flower production in the state of minas gerais is a business accomplished by 188 growers in a planted area of about 290.6836 ha. the main species grown in the state are: rose (151.5710 ha), sempre-vivas (57.26 ha), cala lilly flowers (16.0255 ha), carnation (12.6290 ha) and heliconia (11.7600 ha). the production is sold all over brazil and it is also exported to countries of europe, asia and north america. the main exported produces are: cut roses, cut orchids and sempre-vivas.

Abstract: bacillus pumilus and paenibacillus sp. were applied on the paper mill effluent to investigate the colour remotion. inocula were individually applied in effluent at ph 7.0, 9.0 and 11.0. the real colour and cod remotion after 48h at ph 9.0 were, respectively, 41.87% and 22.08% for b. pumilus treatment and 42.30% and 22.89% for paenibacillus sp. gel permeation chromatography was used to verify the molar masses of compounds in the non-treated and treated effluent, showing a decrease in the compounds responsible for the paper mill effluent colour.
Purification and Partial characterization of manganese peroxidase from Bacillus pumilus AND Paenibacillus sp.

Abstract: the production of manganese peroxidase (mnp) from bacillus pumilus and paenibacillus sp. was studied under absence and presence of the inducers indulin at, guayacol, veratryl alcohol, lignosulfonic acid and lignosulfonic acid desulfonated. indulin at increased the activity of b. pumilus mnp up to 31.66 u/l after 8 h, but no improve was observed for paenibacillus sp., which reached maximum activity (12.22 u/l) after 20 h. both mnps produced by these microorganisms were purified in phenyl sepharose resin and the proteins from crude extracts were eluted in two fractions. however, only the first fraction of each extract exhibited mnp activities. tests in different ph and temperature values, from ph 5.0 to ph 10.0 and 30 oc to 60 oc, respectively, were carried out with the purified mnp. the maximum activity reached for b. pumilus and paenibacillus sp. mnps were 4.3 u/l at ph 8.0 and 25 oc and 11.74 u/l at ph 9.0 and 35 oc, respectively. the molar masses determined by sds-page gel eletrophoresis were 25 kda and 40 kda, respectively, for the purified enzyme from b. pumilus and paenibacillus sp.

Abstract: ornamentals plants and flowers brazilian market has been presenting increase perspectives and consequent increment for the main segments of productive system: production, distribution and commercialization. this optimist prevision has been attracting new undertakes occasioning an increase of competition and the search necessity for new products and services. to understand the ornamental plants and flower new tendency and to analyze the retail segment structure at lavras county, state of minas gerais, brazil, that was the main purpose of this work, were got information at the flower and ornamental plants establishments at the first semester of 2003. for this porpose, was made an exploratory research with questions about the enterprise operational structure and social questions about the florists, like knowledge level in the area and their concern about to be up to date. in the county there aren't cash and carrier flower's shops, only commercial floriculturist, among them 64% work with landscape design projects, 73% offer gardening works, and 45% have self-production, being characterized generally by protected planting in small areas and only organic and simplified cultivation of garden's seedlings for self-provisions. therefore, at the majority all florists depend on regular plants supply accomplished directly by large wholesaler, store to store. in general, it was observed that the retailers are limited in the price dispute showing their concern with the market competition high levels, and fewer interested in the productions and services diversification. moreover, there are few sellers that offer innovation of products and services with aggregated value, searching for highest margins. this can be the result from the time of the floricultures at the market, once that 64% of the enterprises have more than 6 years, while the others 36% have fewer than 3 years. one of the main problems informed by the local florists is the competition of the door-to-door plant's salesme

Abstract: city squares present important roles in urban environment such as community integration and improvement of environmental quality. to analyze the actual situation of the dr. augusto silva city square an evaluation of its characteristics and uses was performed through a qualitative analysis and a pool within its users. urbanistic, physical aspects, and vegetation were evaluated using the qualitative analysis. the pool was applied in members of 600 families using a standardized questionnaire with direct and descriptive questions. the results showed that dr. augusto silva is the most visited city square by residents of the entire town. the activities in this square are varied including rest and sportive practices even though it lacks some basic infrastructures. based on the qualitative analysis it was observed that this square present a regular to good maintenance.

Abstract: Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar a estrutura interna de folhas de ipêbranco cultivadas in vitro e ex vitro. Para as avalia es anat micas foram utilizadas folhas do primeiro nó de ramos, da base para o ápice, com 30 dias de cultivo in vitro e de plantas de campo. O estudo anat mico foi feito por meio das sec es transversais e paradérmicas das folhas. As folhas apresentam epiderme uniestratificada e mesofilo dorsiventral. S o hipostomáticas e apresentam tricomas em todas as faces. Folhas de plantas cultivadas ex vitro, quando comparadas com in vitro, tiveram espessura do limbo foliar, nervura central da epiderme adaxial e abaxial e os parênquimas pali ádico e esponjoso maiores. Em folhas oriundas do cultivo in vitro, a cutícula e o esclerênquima s o ausentes. Folhas de plantas cultivadas ex vitro apresentaram menor número de est matos e maior número de tricomas, quando comparadas com o cultivo in vitro. Os est matos de folhas cultivadas in vitro s o maiores que os de folhas ex vitro. Considering the importance of knowledge of anatomical structures in the protocol definition for the micropropagation of the ipê-branco, this study compared the in vitro and ex vitro internal structure of leaves. For anatomical evaluations, the first leaf in vitro with 30 days of growth and adult plants were used. The anatomical study of leaves was based on microscope examination from cross-sectional and paradermic sections from the leaf blade. The leaf structures from plants ex vitro show uniseriate skin, and mesophyll with dorsiventral organization. They are hipostomatics and trichome is present in all faces. Leaves ex vitro was thicker that culture in vitro in limb, central nervure, epidermis and palisade and spongious parenchyma. In leaves in vitro, cuticle and sclerenchyma are absent. Leaves of ex vitro presented minor numbers of stomata and greater number of trichromes when compared with culture in vitro. Stomata of in vitro are larger than stomata ex vitro.
In vitro propagation of nidularium fulgens

Abstract: nidularium fulgens lem. is a native bromeliad species of the brazilian atlantic forest, used in gardens and vases. like other bromeliad species, plants are extracted from their environment in order to be commercialized. this study tested different concentrations of growth regulators on the in vitro propagation of n. fulgens. pre-established in vitro seedlings were inoculated in ms culture medium with ba (6-benzylaminopurine) added at the concentrations of 0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 4.0mg·l-1 in combination with naa (naphthaleneacetic acid) at 0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0mg·l-1 (experiment 1), and with tdz (thidiazuron) at 0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05 and 0.1mg·l-1 in combination with naa at 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0mg·l-1 (experiment 2). the combination of auxins and cytokinins, especially tdz, is important for micropro-pagation of n. fulgens. higher numbers of shoots were obtained when 0.02mg·l-1 tdz plus 0.5 or 0.1mg·l-1 naa or ms medium was supplemented with 1.0mg·l-1 ba and 0.1mg·l-1 naa. the occurrence of shoots longer than 1.0cm was optimized when ms medium was supplemented with 0.02mg·l-1 tdz and 0.5mg·l-1 naa. roots were not observed when ba or tdz were added to the ms culture medium. plants over 2.0cm were acclimatized, resulting in a 100% survival rate. the use of the produced plants is suggested for in vitro preservation programs of endangered populations.
