Abstract:

The fruit production for export is an economically significant activity in the Valley of S?o Francisco River, especially in the irrigated lands of Petrolina-PE/Juazeiro-BA, Brazil. The development of new genetic material most suitable to the tropical climate and the demands of the consumer market have led to the selection of new seedless grapes cultivars. In this case, the use of the embryo rescue technique has produced satisfactory results for obtaining such materials, especially in the semiarid region. This study aimed to evaluate the in vitro development of intraspecific hybrids of grapevine (Vitis vinifera L.), derived from the rescue of immature embryos resultant from the crossing of “Superior Seedless” and “Thompson Seedless” Brazilian clones. To establish and develop the cultivation, the culture media was supplemented with 30 g/L sucrose, 0.1 g/L myo-inositol, 0.002 g/L glycine, 0.1 mg/L indoleacetic acid (IAA), 6.5 g/L of agar, adjusted pH to 5.7. The experiment was evaluated after 90 days. The variables measured were: number of nodes, number of leaves, plant height (cm), number of roots and length (cm) of the root system and internodes. The period of 60 days of in vitro culture of ovules resulted in the highest values of embryos (about 50%), as well as better characterized developmental stages with higher germination (47.3%). The three types of hybrid grapes evaluated in micropropagation showed very similar values of the measured parameters, even having originated from embryos of different developmental stages.

Scientia Agricola , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-90162011000100007
Abstract: the conservation and characterization of grape (vitis spp) genetic resources in germplasm banks have been the basis of its use in breeding programs that result in development of new cultivars. there are at least 10,000 grape cultivars kept in germplasm collection. the genetic diversity in 136 table grape accessions from the state of bahia, brazil, was evaluated. continuous and discrete morphoagronomic traits were assessed. the clustering analysis by the tocher otimization method resulted in 30 clusters (considering continuous morphoagronomic traits), and 9 clusters (taking into consideration multicategorical traits). there was no agreement between clusters obtained by both, continuous or discrete phenotypic descriptors, independent of the cluster method analysis used. a satisfactory genetic variability among the table grape accessions was observed.
Genetic diversity in table grapes based on RAPD and microsatellite markers
Leo, Patrícia Coelho de Souza;Motoike, Sérgio Yoshimitsu;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2011000900010
Abstract: the objective of this work was to analyze the genetic diversity of 47 table grape accessions, from the grapevine germplasm bank of embrapa semiárido, using 20 rapd and seven microsatellite markers. genetic distances between pairs of accessions were obtained based on jaccard's similarity index for rapd data and on the arithmetic complement of the weighted index for microsatellite data. the groups were formed according to the tocher's cluster analysis and to the unweighted pair?group method with arithmetic mean (upgma). the microsatellite markers were more efficient than the rapd ones in the identification of genetic relationships. information on the genetic distance, based on molecular characteristics and coupled with the cultivar agronomic performance, allowed for the recommendation of parents for crossings, in order to obtain superior hybrids in segregating populations for the table grape breeding program of embrapa semiárido.

Abstract: aiming to increase the berry size, weight of bunches and yield, the bunches of the cv. superior seedless was powdered with gibberelic acid (1 + 20 mg.l-1), bio-stimulant crop set? in the dosis of 0.1 and 0.2%. in adition was used the treatment known as girdling. those treatments were applied in an isolated way or combined to each other. the work was carried out during 2001-2002 (two harvest seasons), in the experimental station of bebedouro, semi-arid embrapa in petrolina, pernambuco state. the experimental design were in randomized blocks with 12 treatments and three replications. the differences among the treatments were not statistical significant in the two evaluated seasons. however, when the gibberelic acid was associated with crop set? 0.1% and girdling, it was observed a tendency to increase the weight of bunches, as well as, the weight and berry size in the 2001 season. the bunches treated with gibberelic acid presented stronger rachis, although significant differences are not observed among the treatments. some plants submited to the girdling presented problems with cicatrization, that caused death of them, recomending to avoid this practice in the conditions of this work.
