Contel, José Onildo Betioli;Oliveira Júnior, Jair Franklin;
Revista de Psiquiatria do Rio Grande do Sul , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-81082005000100007
Abstract: introduction: in group psychotherapy, group leaders are confronted with a myriad of variables in attempting to frame an interpretation that will be the most useful for the individual and the group. they must decide, for example, where to focus their interpretation: should it be on specific individuals, on the interactions between individuals, or on the group-as-a-whole? objective: to describe details of the 33rd and 34th sessions of a psychotherapy group to reveal structure, focus and content of integrative interpretation. method: the convenient selection of two consecutive sessions of this group including 8 high mental functioning adult patients of both sexes, occurred on the occasion of the admission of two new members. the predominant content, mainly the hostility, in the 34th session, were analyzed by means of up to date psychodynamic concepts. results: the predominant hostility in the 34th session showed the ambivalence and the conflict over the entrance of two new members. the group leader employed integrative interpretation based on the contents of the 33rd and 34th sessions and on previous sessions in which correlated issues were discussed. discussion: the integrative interpretation took into account four group levels: 1) individual; 2) sub-group of two individuals; 3) group-as-a-whole; and 4) group's regression to an earlier, less developed stage. conclusion: first of all, the group leader intervened vigorously to keep conflict and hostility within constructive bounds. secondly, by means of integrative interpretation, the group leader helped the group transcend itself to understand the cognitive-emotional experience unraveling in the 34th session, mainly the struggle for dominance between new and old members.

Abstract: introduction: visceral leishmaniasis is a serious public health problem that requires global control strategies, especially with respect to factors that may intervene in reducing the incidence of endemicity. in this work, rainfall density and temperature were correlated with the incidence of human cases in an area endemic for leishmaniasis in s?o luis do maranh?o, northeastern brazil. methods: notification of human cases by the national health foundation/regional coordination of maranh?o (funasa/corema) from 2002 to 2010 was used. ecological data (mean temperature and rainfall density) were provided by the meteorological office of state. results: a significant association was verified between the number of vl cases and rainfall rate but not in the analysis concerning mean temperatures. conclusions: these data suggest that the control actions in visceral leishmaniasis should be performed during rainy season in the state of maranh?o, which is in the first half of the year.

Abstract: introduction: one of the important current problems in hiv/aids infection is the establishment of epidemiological and laboratorial prognostic parameters during patient follow-up. this study aimed at analyzing the evolution of laboratory tests: cd4 lymphocyte count, viral load, hemoglobin (hb), aspartate aminotransferase (ast), alanine aminotransferase (alt), and the epidemiological variables sex and age as prognostic factors for survival in progression to death among aids patients. methods: a retrospective study was conducted using analysis of medical records, and prospective 24-month follow-up of patients with hiv/ aids attended at the president vargas hospital outpatient clinic, a reference center in hiv/ aids attendance in the state of maranh?o, brazil. the study analyzed patients aged 10 to 60 years old, who manifested aids and who were not using antiretroviral therapy or had used it for less than 5 years. the chi-square test was used for statistical analysis. results: the sample included 100 patients - 57 were current outpatients, and 43 had died. the variables viral load (p=0.726), alt (p=0.314), sex (p=0.687), and age (p=0.742) were analyzed, and no evidence of association between them and worst prognosis was observed. conclusions: a significant relation was verified between low hb levels (p=0.000) and cd4 (p=0.000) and shorter survival.
ARTICLE - Effect of selection on genetic variability in yellow passion fruit
Juliana Leles Costa,Onildo Nunes de Jesus,Gilmara Alvarenga Fachardo Oliveira,Eder Jorge de Oliveira
Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2012,
Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the genetic diversity in improved (IG) and unimproved germplasm (UIG) of yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa Deg), based on ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeat) markers. The genotypes were grouped by neighbor joining clustering and principal component analysis. Regardless of the genotype, a high number of polymorphic bands was observed, aside from several specific fragments of the groups, according to the level of improvement. Unimproved genotypes had a higher number of polymorphic fragments. The hierarchical and principal component clustering coincided in the formation of two rather distinct groups (IG and UIG). The molecular analysis of variance to check the differentiation between groups showed 57 and 43% of the variation within and between groups, respectively. This study demonstrated the potential of ISSR to determine molecular polymorphism in yellow passion fruit and that breeding has narrowed the genetic variability.

Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2009,
Abstract: New banana varieties with superior agronomical characteristics have been developed through introductionand/or genetic breeding. In order to guarantee its marketing and intellectual property, these new varieties need to becharacterized by efficient inheritable qualitative morphological and molecular descriptors. The aim of the research was tocharacterize recommended banana varieties using qualitative morphological and molecular descriptors. Twelve genotypeswere analyzed using 61 morphological descriptors where 17 were related to the plant, 24 to the bunch and 20 regarding theflower. Eighty-one molecular markers; 47 RAPD primers and 34 SSR primers were used. The morphological and moleculardescriptors were efficient in the characterization and identification of specific characteristics for most of the varieties evaluated.Plant and inflorescence descriptors presented the greatest variability of characteristics that can facilitate its use for cultivarprotection and registration

O conceito de executivo central e suas origens
Oliveira, Rosinda Martins;
Psicologia: Teoria e Pesquisa , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-37722007000400005
Abstract: the interest in the central executive grows each day in view of the observation of executive dysfunction in pathologies like tdah. however, although references to this concept exist in the specialized literature in brazil, there is a lack of theoretical studies about this subject. this article presents the central executive concept and its theoretical origins. the central executive is a coordinator of mental operations. the conception of this system goes back to the dichotomy between controlled and automatic processes. it was explored in russian psychology and, in the context of cognitive psychology, its functioning was explained in a model composed of a supervisory attentional system and a prescheduled organizer. knowing the origins of the central executive concept may bring new ideas about its normal or pathological development.
