Formar o mestre na universidade: a experiência paulista nos anos de 1930

Abstract: this article presents results of a research on teacher university education in brazil in the 1930s. the investigation was carried out gathering information sources from that period, including documents produced by the institution under study, as well as from periodicals, legislation, newspapers, and educational literature, amongst others. from the documental corpus so gathered it was observed that in 1933, in the state of s?o paulo, the first higher education school for the formation of teachers created was the instituto de educa??o (institute of education), stemming from the educational reform of fernando de azevedo. in 1934 it was incorporated to the university of s?o paulo and, together with the school of philosophy, sciences and literature, was responsible for the higher education of teachers. at the institute of education of the university of s?o paulo was established the first generation of university teachers devoted to the education of teachers for the primary and secondary school, a project that had its roots in the intellectual debate that took place especially in the 1920s. although the institute constituted one of the answers to the demand for teacher professionalization and had been a model for other initiatives, it was closed down in 1938. political forces linked to the interventionist government of ademar de barros and to the catholic church put an end in 1938 to the first brazilian experience of higher education for teachers.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta resultados de pesquisa sobre a forma o universitária docente na década de 1930, no Brasil. A investiga o realizou-se coligindo fontes produzidas no período, tanto as originárias da institui o em estudo quanto as advindas de periódicos, legisla o, jornais e obras educacionais, entre outras. A partir do corpus documental arrolado, pode-se verificar que em 1933, no estado de S o Paulo, inaugurou-se a primeira escola de nível superior para o preparo do professor, o Instituto de Educa o, originário da reforma educacional de Fernando de Azevedo. Em 1934 foi incorporado à Universidade de S o Paulo e, em conjunto com a Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras, responsabilizou-se pelo preparo docente em nível universitário. No IEUSP institucionalizou-se a primeira gera o de professores universitários voltados à forma o de professores primários e secundários, projeto enraizado no debate intelectual ocorrido especialmente nos anos de 1920. Embora uma das respostas à demanda pela profissionaliza o docente e modelo para outras iniciativas, o Instituto foi encerrado em 1938. For as políticas ligadas ao estado intervencionista de Ademar de Barros e à Igreja Católica finalizam, em 1938, a primeira experiência brasileira de forma o de professores em nível universitário.
Buccal alterations in diabetes mellitus

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder of multiple etiologies characterized by chronic hyperglycemia with impairment of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The long-term consequences of diabetes include damage, dysfunction and/or failure of several organs that can lead to progressive development of chronic specific complications like retinopathy with potential blindness, nephropathy that may lead to renal failure, and/or neuropathy with risk of foot ulcers, amputations, Charcot joints, and features of autonomic dysfunction, including sexual dysfunction. People with diabetes are at increased risk for cardiovascular, peripheral vascular and cerebrovascular disease [1].Besides damaging the kidneys, eyes, nerves, blood vessels, and heart, long standing hyperglycemia can also be associated with buccal alterations such as periodontal disease (the most prevalent and important finding), and many other alterations that can appear before and sometimes predispose to periodontal disease, like impaired function of the salivary glands that lead to a reduction of salivary flow and changes in saliva's composition, taste alterations, burning mouth, greater tendency to buccal infections, delayed healing process, decays, coated tongue and halitosis.Periodontal disease is a chronic bacterial infection that affects both the gum and the bone that supports the teeth and is caused by anaerobic Gram negative microorganisms that are present in the bacterial plaque that adheres to the teeth. If the bacterial plaque is not carefully removed, the toxins produced by the microorganisms act locally as a stressing factor that starts the gum inflammation. With the progression of this inflammation, the gum detaches from the teeth, and afterwards periodontal pockets are formed. Abstract: the purpose of this article is to discuss the relationship between the brazilian national curriculum guidelines for the undergraduate education program (dcnp) adopted in 2006, and the orientation from the multilateral organizations. it analyzed the documentation concerning the teachers training from multilateral organizations, and the literature in teacher reconversion comparing these data with those collected from the national curriculum guidelines. through qualitative analysis, it was verified that the teacher assumes a privileged place, becoming protagonist of the reform triggered after 1990 across latin america and the caribbean. in an implicit way, this professional sets up like a super-teacher - a person who is multifunctional, polyvalent, flexible, protagonist, and tolerant. the proposal regarding the transformation of its functions appears as a reconversion strategy, and is confirmed in the documentation examined. several elements from the curriculum guidelines converge with those proposed by multilateral organizations. this articulation corroborates with the expansion process of teaching and management concepts, and the restriction of theoretical training and of training time. therefore, it may lead to the disintellectualization of the teacher, and according to the curriculum guidelines, to the configuration of the undergraduate education program as space of the teacher's reconversion in super-teacher.

Abstract: the importance of the communications media in the construction of symbols has been widely acknowledged. many of the articles on health published in the daily newspapers mention medical studies, sourced from scientific publications focusing on new risks. the disclosure of risk studies in the mass media is also a topic for editorials and articles in scientific journals, focusing the problem of distortions and the appearance of contradictory news items. the purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning and content of disclosing scientific risk studies in large-circulation daily newspapers, analyzing news items published in brazil and the scientific publications used as their sources during 2000. the "risk" is presented in the scientific research projects as a "black box" in the meaning of latour, with the news items downplaying scientific disputes and underscoring associations between behavioral habits and the occurrence of diseases, emphasizing individual aspects of the epidemiological approach, to the detriment of the group.

Abstract: the article discusses teacher education within the context of the reform in the brazilian state, articulated to the recommendations made by the international bodies for education at the start of the 21st century. for that, it makes use of the concept of globally structured educational agenda (gsea) as proposed by roger dale. this concept invites us to think about these reforms, understanding them inside the dynamics established between the central economies and the peripheral countries in the international division of labor. the analysis focuses on three large educational projects for education in latin america and the caribbean: the proyecto regional de educación para américa latina y el caribe - prealc, sponsored by unesco, the plan de cooperación, which resulted from the cumbre iberoamericana de educación sponsored by oei (organization of ibero-american states), and the proyectos hemisféricos en educación sponsored by oas. in this article we emphasize the way in which these organizations try to build the teacher simultaneously as protagonist and obstacle to the educational reform, discrediting them theoretically and politically. we seek to evince the fact that in the documental corpus of the above-mentioned organizations two concepts are fundamental to understand the reform in teacher education: professionalization, and management culture. the centrality attributed to these two concepts aims at extending the control over the teaching category and its potential to oppose reforms and the state. these conclusions corroborate the thesis that educational reforms have little to do with strictly educational issues, and are more related to the search for a new governability of public education.
