Valida o Concorrente de Escores de Enfermagem (NEMS e TISS-28) em terapia intensiva pediátrica Concurrent Validation of Nursing Scores (NEMS and TISS-28) in pediatric intensive care

Abstract: OBJETIVO: Examinar a validade concorrente do escore Nine Equivalents of Nursing Manpower Use Score (NEMS) em compara o ao Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System-28 (TISS-28) em uma Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica (UTIP). MéTODOS: Estudo de coorte prospectivo observacional, realizado na UTIP de um hospital universitário brasileiro, no período de dois anos, com uma amostra de 816 pacientes. Foram realizadas 7.702 observa es de cada um dos escores. RESULTADOS: A média da pontua o máxima do NEMS foi 26,6±9,2 e do TISS-28 21,3±8,2. Em todas as médias, o TISS-28 foi inferior ao NEMS (p<0,001). Houve uma boa correla o entre eles (r2=0,704 para todas as observa es). A concordancia entre o TISS-28 e o NEMS foi boa, apresentando apenas 6,2% de diferen a entre os escores. CONCLUS O: Os resultados mostraram boa correla o e concordancia entre o TISS-28 e o NEMS, permitindo validar o NEMS nessa popula o de pacientes pediátricos. OBJECTIVE: Examine the concurrent validity of the Nine Equivalents of Nursing Manpower Use Score (NEMS) in comparison to the Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System-28 (TISS-28) in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). METHODS: Prospective observational cohort study conducted in a PICU of a Brazilian university hospital over a period of two years with a sample of 816 patients. A total of 7,702 observations were obtained for each of the scores. RESULTS: The average maximum score of the NEMS was 26.6±9.2 and for the TISS-28 it was 21.3±8.2. The TISS-28 was lower than the NEMS (p<0.001) for all the averages. A good correlation was observed between them (r2=0.704) for all observations. Agreement between the TISS-28 and the NEMS was good, presenting only a 6.2% difference between the scores. CONCLUSION: The results show good correlation and agreement between the TISS-28 and the NEMS, enabling the NEMS validation in this population of pediatric patients.

Abstract: this study conducted a integrative review of the literature with the objective of describing the historical trajectory of therapeutic interventions scores with emphasis on nine equivalents of nursing manpower use score in intensive care units. the descriptors used were "intensive care units" and "scales", for publications issued between 2000 and 2009. the sensitized terms were: "nine equivalents of nursing manpower use score" or "nems", "unidade de terapia intensiva", "therapeutic intervention scoring system-76", "therapeutic intervention scoring system-28 or "tiss-28". medical literature analysis and retrieval system online (medline) and literatura latino-americana e do caribe em ciências da saúde (lilacs) publications were selected. among the 295 papers reviewed, 18 were chosen, of which 55,5% were in english. the studies approach nems (33,3%), therapeutic intervention scoring system-76 (11,1%), tiss-28 (33,3%), among others. researches emphasized that nems has been a useful, operational and succinct tool.

Abstract: Introduction: Indices of gravity aim to estimate the disease’s severity. The Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System – 28 (TISS-28) is used in Intensive Care Units as an indirect index to estimate the disease`s gravity interval, which has also been recently used to relate the nursing workload Objective: To review each operational item/definition of the Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System (TISS-28), making a re-reading in order to systematize the data collection practice in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs). Materials and Methods: An integrative revision research of medical and nursing literature through the base of data from Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) using the terms Intensive Care Units, scales and Therapeutic Intervention Scoring System-28 or TISS-28. The articles were selected according to their relevance, as the authors opinion. Results: Preliminary studies show that the use of TISS-28 in ICU of adults patients, has helped in the evolutionary clinical assessment of the patient’s worsening, besides associations between death and elevated scores. The items/operational definitions evaluated in this score are reviewed in order to facilitate the interpretation of each item in the TISS -28 daily application in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Conclusion: The daily assessment of the 28 TISS variables allows the acquirement of an evolutionary profile of hospitalized children, which can help to increase the knowledge of the hospitalized child clinical picture and its prognosis. Abstract: the objective of the study was to know the linkages and challenges between professional training and practice and the curriculum guidelines for nursing baccalaureate degree programs. it was a qualitative study, with 34 graduates in nursing, who answered an e-mailed questionnaire. data analysis was based on michael foucault's discourse analysis. the ethical aspects were observed. analysis showed three themes in graduates discourses - unified health system, generalist professional training and humanization. the study revealed an approximation of concepts and guidelines of the curriculum guidelines for nursing baccalaureate degree programs and of the unified health system with the reality of professional practice along with challenges in the training of professional nurses.

Abstract: Este artigo apresenta alguns dados sobre a história do campo de conhecimento e prática da Psicologia em sua rela o com a educa o no Brasil. Este estudo foi conduzido baseado no fundamento epistêmico-filosófico do materialismo histórico dialético e na nova história, utilizando fontes bibliográficas históricas e cinco relatos orais de personagens da Psicologia educacional e escolar. Os depoimentos e o material das fontes escritas constituíram o corpus documental, cuja organiza o seguiu a metodologia da história oral e da historiografia plural. Foi realizada análise descritivo-analítica compreendida em duas etapas: a) análise documental (fontes n o orais) e b) constru o de indicadores e núcleos de significa o dos registros orais. A partir das análises, comp s-se uma periodiza o da história da Psicologia educacional e escolar brasileira por meio de marcos históricos que compreendeu as fases: 1) coloniza o, saberes psicológicos e educa o (1500-1906), 2) a Psicologia em outros campos de conhecimento (1906-1930), 3) desenvolvimentismo - a Escola Nova e os psicologistas na educa o (1930-1962), 4) A Psicologia educacional e a Psicologia do escolar (1962-1981), 5) o período da crítica (1981-1990), 6) a Psicologia educacional e escolar e a reconstru o (1990-2000) e 7) A virada do século: novos rumos? (2000-). Este artículo presenta algunos datos sobre la historia del campo de conocimiento y práctica de la Psicología en su relación con la educación en el Brasil. Abstract: this article presents the obtained results throughout the master degree dissertation, entitled the role of spatiality in quatrevingt-treize (1814) by victor hugo, in which it is analyzed how the french revolution redefined some meanings and contributed to the formation of the contemporary world. in this traditional historical novel, the literary composition of rebellious and monarchic spaces is observed by means of a romantic and turn-of-the-century vision. during the reading of the book, we are surprised by a narration expressing resistance to the revolutionary progress in 1793: 'the war of vendéia', an eminently monarchist and feudal space, in opposition to that of revolutionary paris.

Abstract: documents about science education point out the need for engaging students in their learning processes, and defend the relevance of the learning of skills, mainly those associated with the process of scientific investigation. this paper aims to contribute to the development of a wider vision of science and knowledge as it is built and used. assuming the need to evaluate students' knowledge in a way that is coherent with this new teaching perspective, this paper presents an overview of some evaluations from all over the world. science questions from the last versions of such evaluations were analysed in order to base a discussion about how they follow the new guidelines for science teaching. the analysis made it evident that it is difficult to assess some skills and there is an absence of opportunities to express the knowledge related to them.

Abstract: This paper presents and discusses an analysis of the analogies presented by Brazilian chemistry textbooks for the medium level. The main aim of the analysis is to discuss whether such analogies can be said good teaching models. From the results, some aspects concerning with teachers' role are discussed. Finally, some new research questions are emphasised.

Abstract: a project manager as a leader is the key element to assure the success of the ventures he/she is responsible for and to implement the organization strategies. besides, the project manager can be very important to the future of the organization by applying entrepreneur skills aiming at needs and new opportunities. however, he/she has operational responsibilities such as planning, monitoring, and accounting and control of the project which can, some times, conflict with characteristics of an entrepreneur. therefore, it is relevant to evaluate whether a project manager has the required entrepreneur skills which when combined the skills of a manger result in successful projects. in order to perform this evaluation, a study with 164 graduate and highly experienced project managers, most men, was carried out. a nonparametric analysis indicated that the greater the project manager?s entrepreneur tendency, the more successful the projects can be conceived. the creative tendency proved important since the results demonstrated a number of success criteria associated.
Homicides among teenagers in the city of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil: vulnerability, susceptibility, and gender cultures

Abstract: the authors present a quantitative and qualitative study on homicides among teenagers in porto alegre, rio grande do sul state, brazil, based on a historical series during the 1990s and the life and death histories in this group, with a special focus on 1997. in that year there were 68 homicides in which the victims were from 10 to 19 years old. of the 68, 62 were males and only 6 females, or a ratio of 10:1, showing that young males are more vulnerable and susceptible to being murdered. the data indicate that cause of death is influenced by gender culture and that homicides are based on power and status symbols characterizing a kind of virility. this expression of virility in the shaping of violence also appears in the domination of the female body observed in homicides with young women as the victims. the life and death histories of these teenagers highlight the pertinence of the gender-based analysis as a theoretical-analytical category, in addition to analyses considering socioeconomic aspects and social inequity.
