Concentra??o e tempo de libera??o do ferom?nio sexual sintético de Bonagota cranaodes (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) na cultura da macieira
Kovaleski, Adalecio;Botton, Marcos;Nakano, Octavio;Vilela, Evaldo F.;Eiras, álvaro E.;
Neotropical Entomology , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-566X2003000100006
Abstract: the effect of five dosis of the synthetic sex pheromone of bonagota (=phtheochroa) cranaodes (meyrick) (a 9:1 blend of e,z 3,5 dodecanyl acetate and z9 hexadecenyl acetate) and the duration of the synthetic pheromone under field conditions were evaluated in a commercial apple orchard in vacaria, rs, brazil. no significant differences were observed among concentrations ranging from 0.25 to 3.0 mg per rubber septum. delta traps baited with two virgin females were ca. four times more attractive than those baited with the synthetic sex pheromone at the dosis of 3 mg per septum. rubber septa containing this amount of synthetic sex pheromone remained attractive for 120 days. comparing number of males captured in traps baited with the synthetic pheromone and males captured in traps with virgin females during seven months, a significant and positive correlation is observed, demonstrating that the seasonal variations in b. cranaodes population density are detected using the synthetic sex pheromone in delta traps.
Dinamica populacional da mariposa oriental em pomares de pessegueiro e ameixeira
Hickel, Eduardo Rodrigues;Hickel, Gabriel Rodrigues;Souza, Og Francisco Fonseca de;Vilela, Evaldo Ferreira;Miramontes, Octavio;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2003000300001
Abstract: the objective of this work was to study the populational dynamics of oriental fruit moth [grapholita molesta (busk)] in peach and plum orchards. adults were monitored in two peach and one plum orchards for five years. equivalent time series of maximum and minimum temperatures were correlated to the population fluctuation data to verify the correspondence between pest occurrence and temperature fluctuations. a fourier analysis of the moth time series revealed cyclic dynamics, with a main average period of 53.91 weeks. another mean short period of 7.45 weeks was also obtained, and approximates to the mean pest generation time. the power spectrum analysis of the time series, with and without the main periodicity, revealed that g. molesta population dynamics has one regular component characterized by the observed periods, and one irregular component, reminiscent of 1/f noise, characterized by the observed apparently irregular amplitude oscillations in the insect occurrence. the combination of components generate a process in the low frequency domain, consistent with noisy periodic dynamic. the pest cycles occurred in phase with the maximum and minimum temperature fluctuations.
Mercados campesinos y diferenciación social en la transición al capitalismo
Mundo agrario , 2004,
Abstract: the transformation processes that affected the european peasantry in the late middle ages have long been considered essential in order to study the transition from feudalism to capitalism. this work analyzes the way in which the process of social differentiation and the development of local markets in 14th and 15th c castile are related. in the first place, different historiographic theses are examined. they all share a logical-abstract approach to the problem, neglecting the specific manner in which peasant markets operate. next, an alternative hypothesis is put forward in contrast. based on the analysis of documents from the town of avila, this hypothesis reveals the existence of forms of unequal exchange, which enable capitalist accumulation at village level and create the conditions for the emergence of a modern class structure.
Dialética das rela??es raciais
Ianni, Octavio;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142004000100003
Abstract: racial relationships are rooted in the social life of individuals, groups and social classes. social inequalities often manifest themselves in stereotypes and intolerance, polarized around ethnicities and other social diversities such as gender, religion etc. in brief, the dynamics of diversity and inequality continuously and reiteratively "manufactures" intolerance and bigotry.
Globaliza??o: novo paradigma das ciências sociais
Ianni, Octavio;
Estudos Avan?ados , 1994, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40141994000200009
Abstract: social sciences are now being challenged to think on the world's globalization. at the end of the twentieth century and dawn of the twenty first, they are faced with the dilemas that open up with the globalization of things, people and ideas: there are social, economical, political, cultural and other processes and structures that are just begining to be studied. besides what is local, national and regional, new and fundamental problems appear with the rising global society. the geographic, historical, cultural and civilizatorian limits seem to change in surprising ways and directions. the individual, group, class, colectivity and people are put before other horizons. the scientific thinking itself is called upon to elaborate concepts and interpretations to account for little known realities. the globalization theories that are just being sketched show the efforts of social sciences to explain what is new going on in the world.

Saber e sentir: uma etnografia da aprendizagem da biomedicina
Benet, Octavio;
Physis: Revista de Saúde Coletiva , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73311999000100006
Abstract: biomedicine, originally society's view of the world, changed progressively between the 16th and the 17th centuries. these changes gave rise to a mechanistic view of the world and opened up the possibility of a dualistic view of man. from this view, which biomedicine is based on, largue that biomedical practice is structured around a structural tension, that is to say, a tension between the realm of knowledge (associated with reason and science) and the realm of feeling (associated with emotions and psychological). with the aim of examining how this structural tension is carried out in the biomedicine learning process, i carried out a field study in the wing of a medical clinic at a public hospital. the study was cantered upon the interns, who, in their learning process, combine how medical practice is lived with the quest for academic excellence.
Tipos e mitos do pensamento brasileiro
Ianni, Octavio;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69092002000200001
Abstract: its is quite frequent in the brazilian thought the "ideal types" elaborated by different authors and that have become emblematic, notorious or even definitive, sometimes representing myths. that is the case of the bandeirantes (a colonial crusaders), the gaúcho, jeca tatu, macunaíma, the cordial man and others. it is worth contemplating this aspect of brazilian culture and thought.
Ianni, Octavio;
Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-69091998000200002
Abstract: since the beginning of researches and debates about globalization, considered as a historical and social process of wide proportions, more or less inclusive interpretations have been stated. besides the opposition between micro and macro theories, metatheories have also emerged, polarizing in two main directions: systemic and historical. both of them have not only been remaking the world's new map, but have also been recreating the map of social sciences.
