Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2008,

Abstract: the research of qualitative nature, descriptive type had as objective to identify the obstetric nurses' practices and to discuss their effects during the childbirth, under the women's optics. twelve women had been part of the study, having as instrument of collect of data a semi structured interview. data analysis showed that women recognized the affectionate attitude, the corporal movement and the presence of companion as the main non-invasive technologies used during the childbirth work, in the house. as for their effects, the women realized that technologies favored their internal potentials at the time of making their own decisions. besides, they identified the nurses' practices of the house as determinants for them have not discouraged during the childbirth work. the posture and the use by the nurses of non-invasive technologies contribute to a better perception of the women about her childbirth's process.
Assessment of maximal lactate steady state during treadmill exercise in SHR
Jeeser Almeida, Bernardo Petriz, Clarissa da Costa Gomes, Rinaldo Pereira, Octávio Franco
BMC Research Notes , 2012, DOI: 10.1186/1756-0500-5-661
Abstract: In order to carry out this determination, SHR (n?=?10) animals (~17.5 weeks; 227.4?±?29.3 g; 172.4?±?8.1 mmHg systolic blood pressure) were divided into two groups (G1 n?=?5; G2 n?=?5). Rats underwent a test with three different velocities to determine the MLSS. The MLSS was considered as the highest effort intensity where the blood lactate did not vary more than 1 mmol.L-1 from the 10th to the 25th minute. The MLSS was reached at a velocity of 20 m.min-1 with 3.8?±?0.5 mmol.L-1 of lactate for G1. Additionally, the results were validated in G2. However, when the test was applied at 25 m.min-1, there was no stabilization of BLC in G1 and G2.In this study it was possible to identify the MLSS in SHR rats, which is an excellent evaluation tool to control exercise intensity. These data are of considerable importance in studies using physical exercise as a means of research in hypertension and may lead to the intensity of exercise being prescribed more appropriately.Hypertension is considered one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease and may be closely associated with other pathologies such as diabetes and obesity [1]. Several pathophysiologic factors may lead to hypertension, such as a stressful lifestyle related to increased sympathetic nervous system activity. Furthermore, high sodium consumption and hyper caloric diets may also lead to hypertension and to diabetes mellitus, obesity and perturbation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, impairing vascular tone and increasing endothelial dysfunction [2]. Therefore, independently of hypertension pathogenesis, its chronic maintenance is itself a strong factor of cardiovascular diseases, leading to high death rates worldwide [1].Along with dietary and pharmacological treatment, chronic exercise stimulus has been recommended as an alternative and effective way to prevent and treat hypertension, since it reduces resting blood pressure rates [3]. As well as chronic stimulus, blood pressure (BP) is also de
Implica??es econ?micas da reforma tributária: análise com um modelo CGE
Tourinho, Octávio Augusto Fontes;Alves, Yann Le Boulluec;Silva, Napole?o Luiz Costa da;
Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402010000300006
Abstract: this paper uses a computable general equilibrium model (cge) on the brazilian economy to measure the impacts of recent changes in the national tax structure. it describes the model, discusses its characteristics, formulation, construction and calibration, and uses it to analyze three tax changes: the partial transformation of cofins into a contribution over value added, and the incidence of pis/pasep and cofins on imports, both approved in 2003, and the extinction of cpmf, which was adopted only in 2007. the comparative static analysis allows the detailed identification of the long term effects of those changes on economic performance, at the macro and sector levels, after all the transitory effects are exhausted, and their indirect effects are absorbed.

Oliveira, Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli da Costa;Unfer, Beatriz;Costa, Iris do Céu Clara;Arcieri, Rogério Moreira;Guimar?es, Luís Octávio Coelho;Saliba, Nemre Adas;
Revista Brasileira de Epidemiologia , 1998, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-790X1998000200008
Abstract: epidemiological surveys are important for obtaining information on the prevalence and etiology of mouth diseases, since the data collected permit health actions to be planned, performed, and assessed. methodological uniformity is necessary, however, to maintain reproductibility, validity, and reliability, and to allow national and international comparisons. the initiative of the world health organization (who) as an advisor in ongoing surveys has been extremely useful, stimulating standardization in all countries. in 1991, a portuguese version of the 1987 third edition of "oral health surveys - basic methods", an instruction manual for performing epidemiological surveys, was published and became a reference for many parts of brazil and the world. the present analysis found conflicting points in relation to the sample size, calibration of the examiners, and criteria for evaluating oral health and treatment needs. in conclusion, due to the dynamic characteristics of scientific knowledge and, considering the regional differences in relation to the development of oral diseases, we recommend that proposals for standardizing surveys be checked periodically. other important issues may have not been detected in this analysis, urging a thorough discussion within the dentistry community as a whole.
