Groundwater Assessment for the NW of Auja Tamaseeh Basin in Tulkarem Area, West Bank  [PDF]

Abstract: The study aims to assess groundwater in Auja—Tamaseeh basin in Tulkarem area—West Bank. A steady state calibration flow model as well as solute transport model were built using the visual Modflow software. A stress period of 10 years (2005 - 2015) was assigned to study its tendency to contamination. The model results show that there is a pollution risk due to the human activities in the area. The groundwater situation will be harmful if there is no action done by the water-decision makers to preserve the aquifers from deterioration and contamination.

Abstract:

A 27-years-old female with history of venous thromboembolism secondary to Lupus anticoagulant presented with sudden onset of chest pain and dyspnea. A CT angiogram of the chest showed superior vena caval (SVC) obstruction with anterior chest wall venous collaterals and hepatic portal vein gas (HPVG), which resolved without intervention on a repeated CT-scan of the abdomen. Previously, HPVG was considered to be a dangerous radiologic sign, however with the advancement in imaging technology more benign causes are being identified. This case highlights that this finding alone, if found, does not indicate aggressive management and that clinical correlation should be considered if found.

Humid Air Plasma Treatment of Birnessite Surface: Application to the Removal of Cochineal Red  [PDF]

Abstract: The thin layers of birnessite (Mn7O13?5H2O) are exposed to reactive species gliding arc plasma in humid air, which induces the treatment of the thin layers surface. Plasma treatment thin layer of birnessite was used for the degradation of Cochineal Red. The experimental results showed that 95% of the CR solution was completely decolorized by thin layer of birnessite treated by plasma compared to 80% of the same solution after interaction of thin layer of birnessite untreated. The decay kinetics always follows a pseudo-first order reaction. The application of the humid air plasma for the surface treatment of thin layers of birnessite improves the efficiency of treatment for Cochineal Red degradation.

Abstract: The relational structure of the space for the child in order to ensure an efficient interaction with its environment is crucial. A didactic approach has as base that motor game could improve systemic and sensory-motor function of the body. The acquisition of a topological and spatial language represents the perspective of this study, in particular based on the action of a game created about it and we have called “Exchequer points”. The effects of this game on the topological relationships were studied among students (N = 44) of second primary school during the school year 2014-2015. The average age of the participants is 7.3 years. ANOVA model for repeated measures was used for data analysis. Results showed that after the learning program based on the motor game, the children of the experimental group (N = 22) significantly improved their topological relationships assessment. On the contrary, the children of the control group (N = 22) did not show significant differences between the pre- and post-measurement.

First Hitting Time of the Boundary of the Weyl Chamber by Radial Dunkl Processes

Abstract: We provide two equivalent approaches for computing the tail distribution of the first hitting time of the boundary of the Weyl chamber by a radial Dunkl process. The first approach is based on a spectral problem with initial value. The second one expresses the tail distribution by means of the W-invariant Dunkl-Hermite polynomials. Illustrative examples are given by the irreducible root systems of types A, B, D. The paper ends with an interest in the case of Brownian motions for which our formulae take determinantal forms.
Radial Dunkl Processes : Existence and uniqueness, Hitting time, Beta Processes and Random Matrices

Abstract: We begin with the study of some properties of the radial Dunkl process associated to a reduced root system $R$. It is shown that this diffusion is the unique strong solution for all $t \geq 0$ of a SDE with singular drift. Then, we study $T_0$, the first hitting time of the positive Weyl chamber : we prove, via stochastic calculus, a result already obtained by Chybiryakov on the finiteness of $T_0$. The second and new part deals with the law of $T_0$ for which we compute the tail distribution, as well as some insight via stochastic calculus on how root systems are connected with eigenvalues of standard matrix-valued processes. This gives rise to the so-called $\beta$-processes. The ultraspherical $\beta$-Jacobi case still involves a reduced root system while the general case is closely connected to a non reduced one. This process lives in a convex bounded domain known as principal Weyl alcove and the strong uniqueness result remains valid. The last part deals with the first hitting time of the alcove's boundary and the semi group density which enables us to answer some open questions.

Abstract: In this paper, we study complex Wishart processes or the so-called Laguerre processes $(X_t)_{t\geq0}$. We are interested in the behaviour of the eigenvalue process; we derive some useful stochastic differential equations and compute both the infinitesimal generator and the semi-group. We also give absolute-continuity relations between different indices. Finally, we compute the density function of the so-called generalized Hartman--Watson law as well as the law of $T_0:=\inf\{t,\det(X_t)=0\}$ when the size of the matrix is 2.
Free Martingale polynomials for stationary Jacobi processes

Abstract: We generalize a previous result concerning free martingale polynomials for the stationary free Jacobi process of parameters $\lambda \in ]0.1], \theta = 1/2$. Hopelessly, apart from the case $\lambda = 1$, the polynomials we derive are no longer orthogonal with respect to the spectral measure. As a matter of fact, we use the multiplicative renormalization to write down the corresponding orthogonality measure.
