Alves, Nilda;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302010000400008
Abstract: this paper approaches the understanding of policies as collective practices, in day-to-day contexts, the multiple relationships of "practitioners" in the daily networks of knowledge and meanings, the concern with the political actions in rhizomes - the challenges to their understanding - and the indication of possible processes: the contexts of teacher training and the idea of "teachersstudents" in the present days.
Virtudes y pecados políticos (Italia, siglos XIII-XV)
Temas medievales , 2005,
Abstract: on ground of earlier research, the author analyzes political virtues and sins which can be recognized in the italian communes. nilda guglielmi concludes that law was the exogenous factor which conferred coherence to the community, while virtue was an endogenous ethical component which achieved harmony among the citizens. with examples at hand the author illustrates different ways in which these ideals become apparent in actions carried out by certain communal governments.
Sobre la Vita de Cristina de Markyate
Temas medievales , 2007,
Abstract: the article analyses the vita of an english mystic born shortly after the norman conquest of anglo-saxon england. therefore the article is divided into two sections, the first one devoted to historical points and the second one to spiritual ones. the first section stresses the fact that in the vita the anglo-saxons are pictured positively as opposed to the normans who are called "strangers" and portrayed negatively. in the same section interesting information about society in general and family structures in particular is examined. in the second section the author studies the phases of the mystic's religious vocation and spiritual perfection. the detailed account of these includes all the typical topoi of mystics' biographies in general. in short, the vita is an important document for a better understanding of post-norman england.
Sobre la Vita de Cristina de Markyate (continuación)
Temas medievales , 2009,
Abstract: in the following pages we continue the translation of christina of markyate's vita. for the purpose we used the latin version edited by c. h. talbot, the life of christina of markyate. a twelfth century recluse, oxford, clarendon press, 1959. our translation has been examined side by side with the english translation by c. h. talbot. we have also used the footnotes of his edition, but only those that helped us in identifying persons and places. the first part of the translation of the vita has been published in volume 15-16 of temas medievales, pp. 11-47.
Cultura e cotidiano escolar
Alves, Nilda;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-24782003000200005
Abstract: based on the ideas espoused by michel de certeau and michel foucault, the present paper seeks to show the ways in which the "knitting of culture" is made through the multiple and diverse relationships between "everyday practitioners" within "cultural happenings". by making use of images of the everyday school and other routine daily contexts, we discuss questions concerning the relationships between culture and everyday educational dynamics, focusing on a theme that has occupied the centre of the studies developed by our research group, namely: "networks of knowledge in education and communication: the question of citizenship, technology and cultural artefacts".

The Use of Sleep Electroencephalography in Sleep Laboratories and Neurological Practice
Trakya Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi , 2005,
Abstract: Sleep electroencephalography (EEG) is an important activation method for the identification of epileptiform discharges. EEG is also a useful tool in scoring sleep stages, and in showing the relationship between sleep disorders and sleep stages. This article reviews application of sleep EEG in sleep laboratories and addresses its role as an activation method in showing epileptiform discharges in neurological practice.
Narcolepsy-Cataplexy Syndrome
Trakya Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi , 2003,
Abstract: Narcolepsy-cataplexy syndrome is characterized by irresistible daytime sleepiness, an abrupt decrease in muscle tone aroused by emotion, sleep paralysis, and hypnagogic hallucinations. This rare syndrome mostly affects males and is usually seen in the second decade. A complex interaction of environmental and genetic factors has been implicated in the etiology; also a close relationship has been demonstrated with some HLA subgroups (HLA DQB1*0602, HLA DR2). Moreover, several studies documented an association with hypocretin deficiency. Clinical findings and polygraphic sleep recordings (nocturnal polysomnogram, multiple sleep latency test) are important in the diagnosis. Central nervous system stimulants such as amphetamine and methylphenidate and somnolytic agents such as modafinil are used in the treatment of narcolepsy, while cataplexy is treated with antidepressants.
The Relationship between Sleep and Epilepsy
Trakya Universitesi Tip Fakultesi Dergisi , 2004,
Abstract: Sleep is an important factor influencing the activation of seizures and interictal discharges. Sleep may contribute to the activation of many seizures, increase the frequency of epileptiform discharges, altering their morphology and distribution. On the other hand, seizures may influence sleep, leading to sleep abnormalities in epileptic patients. This review summarizes the interactions between sleep and epilepsy, the influence of sleep on seizure disorders, and seizure-induced changes in sleep patterns.
