Executives’ Overconfidence, Political Connection and Acquisition Premium of Enterprises  [PDF]

Abstract:
Based on the behavioral finance, the study explores the relationship and mechanism among the political connection, executives’ overconfidence and acquisition premium in the specific institutional context of China’s transitional economy. The empirical study of the acquisition events of all A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2014 shows that the psychological bias of the executives’ overconfidence has significantly enhanced the size of premium paid for the acquisitions after controlling for four other factors that may affect the acquisition premium; The political connection will weaken the influence of executives’ overconfidence on the acquisition premium; However, political connection level is not necessarily an important safeguard against weakening the impacts of the executives’ overconfidence. The results show that enterprises with overconfident executives need to correctly examine the advantages and disadvantages in the process of political connection construction, further improve the corporate governance mechanism, and use benign political connections to help overconfident managers make scientific and reasonable investment decisions, and finally help enterprises to realize healthy development.
LVRT Research of PMSG Wind Turbine Using Feedback Linearization  [PDF]

Abstract: Analyzing the wind turbine with a direct-driven PMSG, this paper proposes a low voltage ride through scheme of PMSG wind power systems based on feedback linearization. The DC-Link voltage is controlled by the generator-side converter rather than the grid-side converter. Considering the nonlinear relationship between the DC-Link voltage and the generator rotor speed, the controller of DC-Link voltage uses a feedback linearization technology. The grid-side converter which controls the grid active power according to the maximum power point tracking adds a judgment link for the generator speed reference. The model of 2 MW PMSG wind power system was simulated by using PSCAD. The simulation result has verified the validity of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract: A new network intrusion detection model based on immune multi-agent theory is established and the concept of multi-agents is advanced to realize the logical structure and running mechanism of immune multi-agent as well as multi-level and distributed detection mechanism against network intrusion, using the adaptability, diversity and memory properties of artificial immune algorithm and combing the robustness and distributed character of multi-agents system structure. The experiment results conclude that this system is working pretty well in network security detection.
Complete Mitochondrial Genome Sequence of Acrida cinerea (Acrididae: Orthoptera) and Comparative Analysis of Mitochondrial Genomes in Orthoptera

Abstract: The complete 15,599-bp mitogenome of Acrida cinerea was determined and compared with that of the other 20 orthopterans. It displays characteristic gene content, genome organization, nucleotide composition, and codon usage found in other Caelifera mitogenomes. Comparison of 21 orthopteran sequences revealed that the tRNAs encoded by the H-strand appear more conserved than those by the L-stand. All tRNAs form the typical clover-leaf structure except trnS (agn), and most of the size variation among tRNAs stemmed from the length variation in the arm and loop of TΨC and the loop of DHU. The derived secondary structure models of the rrnS and rrnL from 21 orthoptera species closely resemble those from other insects on CRW except a considerably enlarged loop of helix 1399 of rrnS in Caelifera, which is a potentially autapomorphy of Caelifera. A stem-loop structure, 16 bp or longer, is likely to be involved in replication initiation in Caelifera and Grylloidea. A long T-stretch (>17?bp) with conserved stem-loop structure next to rrnS on the H-strand, bounded by a purine at either end, exists in the three species from Tettigoniidae. 1. Introduction Mitochondrial genomes exhibit several unique features, including strict orthology, maternal inheritance, lack of recombination, and rapid evolutionary rate. Due to key technological advances in sequencing and the accumulation of universal primers, mitochondria genes have been routinely used in phylogenetic studies as molecular markers [1]. In insect, the mitogenome is a double-stranded circular DNA molecule, usually composed of 13 protein coding genes (cox1-3, cob, nad1-6, nad4L, atp6, and atp8), 22 transfer RNA genes (trnX, where X refers to the corresponding amino acid), and 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rrnS and rrnL, respectively). In addition, an embedded large A+T-rich noncoding region may contain signals for control of replication and transcription. In certain metazoans mtDNA, all genes are transcribed from one strand, whereas in others both strands are used. Except for tRNA encoding genes, the gene order of entire mitochondrial genomes appears to be highly conserved in insects [2, 3]. For phylogenetic reconstruction, the entire mitogenome sequences contain more information than simply the collection of individual gene sequences. Abstract: This paper is divided into two cases to study the communication transmission equipment reliability in the state of the ice storm, according to the huge losses of power system communication caused by the ice storm. For the nodes or links which are not affected by the ice storm, we use the calculation with “the mean time between failures (MTBF)” and “the mean time to repair” (MTTR) to put forward the calculation methods; for the OPGW cable which influenced greater in ice storm, we use the fiber excess length and the elongation of fiber optic cable. It obtains all the paths of the network through improved adjacency matrix method, and then it uses binary decision diagram to obtain the overall reliability of the network. By testing the network nodes and links using “N-1” inspection, the key nodes and key links can be obtained. Finally, considering the importance degree of network transmission business, the reliability evaluation method of power system communication network based on the risk theory in the case of the ice storm has been put forward, and the example to verify that the method can provide the basis for the reliability assessment of the power system communication in the case of the ice storm has been given.

Abstract:

The multi-agent theory is introduced and applied in the way to strike the control amount of emergency control according to stability margin, based on which an emergency control strategy of the power system is presented. The multi-agent control structure which is put forward in this article has three layers: system agent, areal agent and local agents. System agent sends controlling execution signal to the load-local agent according to the position and the amount of load shedding upload from areal agent; The areal agent judges whether the power system is stable by monitoring and analyzing the maximum relative power angle. In the condition of instability, determines the position of load-shedding, and the optimal amount of load-shedding according to the stability margin based on the corrected transient energy function, upload control amount to system agent; local-generator agent is mainly used for real-time monitoring the power angle of generator sets and uploading it to the areal agency, local-loads agent control load by receiving the control signal from system agent. Simulations on IEEE39 system show that the proposed control strategy improves the system stability.

Abstract: ORMD is a Web-accessible database that provides a secure data repository for OR microarray experiments. It contains both publicly available and private data; accessing the latter requires authenticated login. The ORMD is designed to allow users to not only deposit gene expression data but also manage their projects/experiments. For example, contributors can choose whether to make their datasets public. For each experiment, users can download the raw data files and view and export the gene expression data. For each OR gene being probed in a microarray experiment, a hyperlink to that gene in ORDB provides access to genomic and proteomic information related to the corresponding olfactory receptor. Individual ORs archived in ORDB are also linked to ORMD, allowing users access to the related microarray gene expression data.ORMD serves as a data repository and project management system. It facilitates the study of microarray experiments of gene expression in the olfactory system. In conjunction with ORDB, ORMD integrates gene expression data with the genomic and functional data of ORs, and is thus a useful resource for both olfactory researchers and the public.The mammalian olfactory system, with its ability to detect numerous odor molecules in the environment, helps animals locate food, mates, and predators. The detection sensitivity and specificity largely depend on the olfactory receptors (ORs) expressed in the primary sensory neurons within the neuroepithelium in the nose [1]. In rodents, there are approximately 10 million sensory neurons expressing > 1000 different types of OR genes in each nostril [2]. Each neuron expresses only one specific OR, which exhibits an optimal response to specific odorants [3].
