Mary B. Burns, Snehamay Banerjee, Neset Hikmet
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2012.52016
Abstract: Over the past 30 years, researchers have demonstrated that health care information technology (HIT) can improve patient safety and quality of care. More recently, attention has turned increasingly to the role of information and communication technology as a means to improve clinical decision-making as well as organizational efficiency and effective- ness. Despite these streams of research, there is a lack of investigation that look at why and how health care executives leverage HIT. In this paper, the researchers investigate factors that may have an impact on health care executives’ intentions to further adopt HIT in their workplace. The analysis of collected data suggests that these factors play a significant role in increased HIT adoption in the future.
Developing Web-oriented Homework System to Assess Students’ Introductory Physics Course Performance and Compare to Paper-based Peer Homework
Neset DEMIRCI
The Turkish Online Journal of Distance Education , 2006,
Abstract: The World Wide Web influences education and our lives in many ways. Nowadays, Web-based homework has been becoming widespread practice in physics courses and some other courses as well. Although are some disputes whether this is an encouraging or risky development for student learning, there is limited research assessing the pedagogical effect of changing the medium from written, hand-graded homework to online oriented, computer-graded homework. In this study, web-oriented homework system is developed to assess students’ introductory physics course performance. Later on, these results are compared with paper-based (peer) homework performance for mid enrollment physics courses. One of two identical sections of introductory physics course students received paper-based, hand graded group homework while the other received the individual web-based homework. Then two groups’ on conceptual and problem-solving performance measures are compared. No significant differences were found in students’ Force Concept Inventory (FCI) test scores; however, average homework performance scores were significant that could be attributed to the homework method used in favor of paper-based peer homework group.
Prediction of Flow Duration Curves for Ungauged Basins with Quasi-Newton Method  [PDF]
Mutlu Ya?ar, Neset Orhan Baykan
Journal of Water Resource and Protection (JWARP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jwarp.2013.51012
Abstract:

Prediction of flow-duration-curves (FDC) is an important task for water resources planning, management and hydraulic energy production. Classification of the basins as carstic and non-carstic may be used to estimate parameters of the FDC with predictive tools for catchments with/without observed stream flow. There is a need for obtaining FDC for ungauged stations for efficient water resource planning. Thus, study proposes a quite new approach, called the EREFDC model, for estimating the parameters of the FDC for which the parameters of the FDC are obtained with quasi-Newton method. Estimation are made for using the bv gauged stations at first than the FDC parameters are estimated for ungauged stations based on drainage area, annual mean precipitation, mean permeability, mean slope, latitude, longitude, and elevation from the mean sea level are used. The EREFDC model consists of various type of linear- and nonlinear mathematical equations, is able to predict a wide range of the FDC parameters for gauged and ungauged basins. The method is applied to 72 unimpaired catchments studied are about for 50 years average daily measured stream flow. Results showed that the EREFDC model may be used for estimating. FDC parameters for ungauged hydrological basins in order to find FDC for ungauged stations. Results also showed that the EREFDC model performs better in carstic regions than non-carstic regions. In addition, parameters of FDC for tributaries at the basins with insufficient flow data or without flow data may be determined by using basin characteristics.

Yasha Diasamidze, Neset Aydin, Ali Erdo?an
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/am.2016.71009
Abstract: Difficulties encountered in studying generators of semigroup \"\" of binary relations defined by a complete X -semilattice of unions D arise because of the fact that they are not regular as a rule, which makes their investigation problematic. In this work, for special D, it has been seen that the semigroup \"\" , which are defined by semilattice D, can be generated by the set \"\" .
Determination of Primary School Students' Misconceptions About Sound Subject
Neset Demirci,Seda Efe
Necatibey Faculty of Education, Electronic Journal of Science and Mathematics Education , 2007,
Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine primary school students’ misconceptions on sound subject. To fulfill this aim, a three-tier conceptual test, consisted of sixteen different types of base-questions but 38 questions in total, on sound subject was developed. The test was administered to 1420 fifth-grade primary school students in 13 different primary schools in Bal kesir during educational years of 2005 – 2006. A descriptive methodology was used in the study to analyze and interpret the results. The results from the study revealed that fifth year primary school students have a number of misconceptions and lack of knowledge related to sound subjects.

Neset DEMIRCI,Zerrin YAGCI
Journal of Theory and Practice in Education , 2008,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the unit “How Electricity Affects our Lives” in a sixth grade primary school Science Course by using Multiple Intelligence Theory-based activities. This study was conducted with 292 (for pre-test), and 210 (for post-test) students from eight public schools in the province of Bal kesir. A Pre-test – post-test control group quasi-experimental design was used in the study. “Multiple Intelligence Inventory” and “Electricity Achievement Test” were administered as pre-test and post-test to both experimental and control groups before and after the instruction, respectively. According to analyzed results, it is concluded that Multiple Intelligence-based teaching activities were more effective than traditional teaching methods with respect to the Electricity Achievement Test scores; however, there was not much difference found in terms of the Multiple Intelligence Inventory scores between the two groups.
Comparison of Pulmonary Function Tests Between On-Pump and Off-Pump Patients in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
Hikmet Iyem
The Cardiology , 2011, DOI: 10.3923/tcard.2010.12.17
Abstract: It aimed to investigate the negative effect of cardiopulmonary bypass on pulmonary function tests in early postoperative term by comparing pre and postoperative pulmonary function tests and level of blood gases. About 134 consecutive patients underwent CABG surgery between January 2008 and November 2009 were enrolled to prospective study. Patients were divided into two groups: group 1 (n = 67) included patients who urderwent on-pump cardiac surgery, group 2 (n = 67) included patients who underwent off-pump cardiac surgery. Pulmonary function tests were recorded preoperatively and at postoperative 6th day. The follow-up parameters including Vital Capacity (VC), Forced Expiratory Volume at 1 sec (FEV1) and FEV1/VC% of patients in both groups were compared. In present study, 78 males and 56 females overall 134 patients (mean age 62.2±6.4) were evaluated. Overall mortality was 2.98%. Although, there was no difference in FEV1 level in preoperative period, it was higher with statistical significance in off-pump group compared on-pump group (77.1±4.2 vs. 63.2±4.2, p<0.005, respectively) at postoperative 6th day. FEV1/VC rate was also higher with statistical significance in off-pump group than on-pump group (88.1±12.1 vs. 66.4±14.2, p<0.001, respectively) at postoperative 6th day while there was no difference in preoperative period. It think that the off-pump technique is more usufel not only in high risk patients but also in all patients will undergone CABG surgery when the negative effect of CPB just on pulmonary function tests is considered.
AN EVALUATION ABOUT COMPARATIVE TURKISH DIALECTS DICTIONARY
Hikmet KORA?
Zeitschrift für die Welt der Türken , 2013,
Abstract: After the Divanu Lughati't-Türk of Ka garl operation of the first comparative dictionary is studying of Radloff Op t Slovarya Tyurkskih Nare iy (Trial of Turkish Dialects Dictionary). The first comparative dictionary work done in Turkey Hüseyin Kaz m Kadri, at 1927 the first two volumes of the work of Turk Lugati and in the other two volumes published in the 1940s. Although very essential for Turkey and Turkish world there has not been a comparative dictionary study in Turkey until 1991. At 1991 the disintegration of the Soviet Union and after the establishment of the new Turkish republics a Comparative Dictionary of Turkish Dialects hastily prepared by the Ministry of Culture. There are lots of missing from preparation technique of this dictionary to content. This glossary is intended to provide a basis for scientific studies made in Turkey with a new dictionary to be prepared for the new pressures and detect any flaws and is important to consider in the dictionary.
ABOUT THE TRADITION OF BILDUNGSROMAN AND ITS REFLECTIONS ON THE PRESENT DAY
Hikmet ASUTAY
Zeitschrift für die Welt der Türken , 2012,
Abstract: In this study, “Bildungsroman” (the novel of formation), which is an essential novel tradition and the oldest novel type, will be emphasized; and its subject areas, connections with modern-day and the problems it deals will be mentioned by discussing the brief history of bildungsroman, of which masterpieces was given in 18th century Germany, especially, by J.W. v. Goethe, made a great contribution tothe world literature; and move German literature and German novel into the world literature. Recognition and reading of Bildungsroman in Turkish, for example Orhan Pamuk’s “Cevdet Bey ve O ullar ”, could take place by the first novel translations, of which French education and development novels. In this regard, examining bildungsroman from the point of etymon will enable us to be closely acquainted with a great novel tradition.
Inverse Nodal Problem for P-Laplacian energy-dependent Sturm-Liouville
Hikmet Kemaloglu
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: In this study, inverse nodal problem is solved for p-Laplacian Schr\"odinger equation with energy-dependent potential with the Drichlet conditions. Asymptotic estimates of eigenvalues, nodal points and nodal lengths are given by using Pr\"ufer substitution. Especially, an explicit formula for potential function is given by using nodal lengths. Results are more general than classical p- Laplacian Sturm Liouville problem. For the proofs, it is used the methods given in the references lav3, Wang.
