Journal of Minerals and Materials Characterization and Engineering (JMMCE) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/jmmce.2012.1111114
Abstract: The present paper reports Thermoluminescence (TL) Glow curve of Mn2+ doped CaAl2O4 phosphor with different UV exposure time. The Glow peak shows general order kinetics and evaluation of kinetic parameters was done by peak shape method. Calculations of Trap Depth were done with Chen’s different methods and order of kinetics, activation energy and frequency factor are calculated. The recorded glow curve shifts towards higher temperature with increasing intensity as a function of UV exposure time until 30 minutes where it is seen that the peak shifts towards low temperature side and intensity also decreases. The peaks were found at 345?C, 356.83?C, 358?C and 356.73?C respectively using the heating rate 6.7?C/s. The PL (photoluminescence) excitation spectra show peaks at 248 nm and 362 nm whereas emission spectra shows peaks between 364 nm and 551 nm. Sample was characterized by XRD technique.
Corporate Governance and Disclosure Practices in Listed Information Technology (IT) Companies in India  [PDF]
M. Subramanyam, Himachalam Dasaraju
Open Journal of Accounting (OJAcct) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ojacct.2014.34011
Abstract: Manuscript Type: Empirical. Research Question/Issue: The present paper attempts to analyze the level of disclosure on corporate governance practices among the biggest IT companies in India (in terms of exports as per Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) in the time period 2004-2005 to 2011-2012 and its effects on performance and profitability. Research Findings/Results: Using the survey of 6 IT companies with the Standard & Poor’s score card to assess the corporate governance disclosure practices of the companies as a benchmark. It is observed that among the sample IT companies, Infosys, Wipro, TCS and HCL scored high score i.e. more than 100 and Tech Mahindra and Mphasis scored low score i.e. less than 96 in corporate governance disclosure practices. Theoretical Implications: The results of the study support theoretical arguments that corporate governance disclosure increases performance. Practical Implications: A country’s government environment—especially legal and market infrastructure—highly affect the companies’ rate of disclosure which then increases profitability. To policy makers and practitioners, the results suggest that corporate governance should be monitored. Good legislation and a market environment that is free from corruption are essential for corporate governance disclosure to be efficient.

Study of Propagation of Ion Acoustic Waves in Argon Plasma  [PDF]
N. S. Suryanarayana, Jagjeet Kaur, Vikas Dubey
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2010.14039
Abstract: The properties of small amplitude acoustic waves (IAW) in unmagnetised plasma have been discussed in detail. An experimental set up to study the propagation of IAW in argon plasma has been descried. The speed of IAW under different conditions of discharge current and pressure has been measured from the time-of flight technique. From these measurements, electron temperatures have been calculated. The results have been compared with those obtained by single probe method, and were found to be in good agreement with each other so IAW speeds can be used to calculate plasma parameters.
Feature Based Image Mosaic Using Steerable Filters and Harris Corner Detector
Mahesh,Subramanyam M .V
International Journal of Image, Graphics and Signal Processing , 2013, DOI: 10.5815/ijigsp.2013.06.02
Abstract: Image mosaic is to be combine several views of a scene in to single wide angle view. This paper proposes the feature based image mosaic approach. The mosaic image system includes feature point detection, feature point descriptor extraction and matching. A RANSAC algorithm is applied to eliminate number of mismatches and obtain transformation matrix between the images. The input image is transformed with the correct mapping model for image stitching and same is estimated. In this paper, feature points are detected using steerable filters and Harris, and compared with traditional Harris, KLT, and FAST corner detectors.

Deghosting of Ocean Bottom Cable Data:Two approaches
Jagmeet Singh,K. Subramanyam
Physics , 2005,
Abstract: Two filter based approaches for deghosting of Ocean Bottom Cable data are presented. One of them is phase shifting of geophone followed by least square matching of cross ghosted geophone and hydrophone data.In the second approach, phase shifting of geophone is followed by direct matching of geophone's amplitude spectrum with that of the hydrophone within the seismic bandwidth. Results obtained from both approaches were found to be at par with one of the proprietary softwares available with ONGC.
Virtual Photon Emission from Quark-Gluon Plasma
Suryanarayana, S. V.
High Energy Physics - Phenomenology , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevC.76.044903
Abstract: We recently proposed an empirical approach for the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal (LPM) effects in photon emission from the quark gluon plasma as a function of photon mass. This approach was based on Generalized Emission Functions (GEF) for photon emission, derived at a fixed temperature and strong coupling constant. In the present work, we have extended the LPM calculations for several temperatures and strong coupling strengths. The integral equations for (${\bf \tilde{f}(\tilde{p}_\perp)}$) and ($\tilde{g}({\bf \tilde{p}_\perp})$) are solved by the iterations method for the variable set \{$p_0,q_0,Q^2,T,\alpha_s$\}, considering bremsstrahlung and $\bf aws$ processes. We generalize the dynamical scaling variables, $x_T$, $x_L$, for bremsstrahlung and {\bf aws} processes which are now functions of variables $p_0,q_0,Q^2,T,\alpha_s$. The GEF introduced earlier, $g^b_T$, $g^a_T$, $g^b_L$, $g^a_L$, are also generalized for any temperatures and coupling strengths. From this, the imaginary part of the photon polarization tensor as a function of photon mass and energy can be calculated as a one dimensional integral over these GEF and parton distribution functions in the plasma. However, for phenomenological studies of experimental data, one needs a simple empirical formula without involving parton momentum integrations. Therefore, we present a phenomenological formula for imaginary photon polarization tensor as a function of \{$q_0,Q^2,T,\alpha_s$\} that includes bremsstrahlung and $\bf aws$ mechanisms along with LPM effects.
Computerised tomography in Tolosa-Hunt syndrome
Pandit Lekha,Rao Suryanarayana
Indian Journal of Ophthalmology , 1994,
Abstract: Twelve patients who satisfied the clinical criteria of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome (THS), underwent axial computerised tomography (CT) scan of the head. Two patients had abnormalities detected in the cavernous sinus on the affected side which supported the clinical diagnosis. This coupled with steroid responsiveness and long-term asymptomatic follow-up firmly established the diagnosis of THS. We discuss the computerised tomographic findings seen in THS and the relevance of using accurate imaging techniques as the first line of investigation in these cases
