Leal, Murilo Cruz;Mortimer, Eduardo Fleury;
Ciência & Educa??o (Bauru) , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-73132008000200003
Abstract: the aim of this investigation is to analyze how secondary school teachers appropriate the discourse of chemistry curriculum innovation. the study is based on interviews carried out with 12 teachers who have taken part in the pró-médio and pró-ciências programs of continued training and innovation implemented in minas gerais state in brazil, from 1997 to 1999. the appropriation of the innovation discourse by the teachers is dealt with based on the "metalinguistic" perspective of mikhail bakhtin, using mainly the concepts of appropriation of the discourse of the other and polyphony. thus, it was possible to listen to the different voices within the discourse of each teacher, in a complex process of justification, accordance, competition and dissimulation, among other dynamics, creating and re-creating the meanings of innovation. the teacher's experience sometimes acts as an ally to the school culture in the criticism of idealized academic discourses; sometimes it is in opposition to certain traditional teaching practices, becomes an ally of innovation.

Abstract: as a first step in a program of evaluation of ground beef microbiological quality in the city of piracicaba, sp, forty samples of ground beef were taken at two kinds of retail markets (meat shop and supermarket), related to an old and a new system of meat merchandising. the samples were taken weekly in the morning and in the afternoon, during a two month period. total bacterial counts were determined by a procedure recommended by the american public health association and plates were incubated at 21oc (72 hours) and at 32oc (48 hours). the results can be summarized as follows = 1) total counts were generally high, with several samples in the range 107 to 109 cells/gram; average counts were 6.9x 107 cells/gram (21oc) and 2.5xl07 cell/gram (32oc). 2) incubation at 21oc resulted in total counts generally higher than those found at 32oc, although there was no statistically significant difference between the two incubation temperatures. 3) total counts were found to be higher in samples from the small shop (old system) than in samples from the supermarket (new system); the difference was related to higher counts in the morning samples taken at the former retail market.

Martinelli Filho, Alcides;Graner, Murilo;Cruz, Vivaldo F. Da;
Anais da Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz , 1975, DOI: 10.1590/S0071-12761975000100008
Abstract: in brazilian supermarkets, ground beef may sometimes be prepared using meat that has been previously frozen and stored to be consumed during periods of the year when there is a decrease in the amount of fresh meat available. the results of this study suggest that a modified resazurin test, previously described by the authors for the evaluation of ground beef microbiological quality, can be used in different periods of the year, even if frozen meat is involved.

Abstract: the need of didactic material is increasing in medical science nowadays. the lack of anatomical specimens, and the toxicity of conservators, have originated an intense search for alternative ways of demonstrating the human anatomy. as a solution for this difficulty, three-dimensional (3-d) images may be used, facilitating the learning process. this study aims at comparing and describing two techniques of reproduction of bi-dimensional images into three dimensions, which is called stereoscopy. the methods evaluated are filter of colors (anaglyphic) and polarized light. techniques were analyzed for clearness and 3-d effect. fourteen images were evaluated by 5 people, with scores ranging from 0 to 4. total mean scores of polarized light was superior compared to the anaglyphic technique. both methods use the codification of the image, which means separation and exclusivity with each eye seeing its corresponding image. after several photographic essays and gradual adaptation to a better technique, based on optical physics, photography and neuroanatomical knowledge, we concluded that both techniques are suitable means for production of 3-d images. the best technique, however, considering the final quality of image was polarized light, which did not alter the natural color of the specimen, conserving clearness of images with lower cost.
