Relationship between potassium fertilization and panicle blast severity in upland rice

Abstract: the influence of k2o (0, 40, 80, 120 kg ha-1) at varying rates of n application (0, 30, 60 kg ha-1) at planting, on panicle blast (pyricularia grisea (cooke) sacc.) was studied in a field experiment conducted during three consecutive years with the upland rice cultivar dourad?o. panicle blast severity decreased with increasing rates of potassium in the absence of nitrogen (n0). the relationship between panicle blast and k rates was quadratic at 30 kg ha-1 of nitrogen. significant response to k fertilization was not obtained at 60 kg ha-1 of nitrogen in relation to panicle blast severity.

Abstract: hyalella is widely distributed in the americas. until the present moment around 30 species have been identified. hyalella curvispina shoemaker is treated as synonynous with hyalella pernix (moreira) due to the very strong similarities found in both species: they have in common an outstanding curved spine on the inner ramus of uropod 1 of the male. this is considered the main characteristic of h. curvispina. with the species already known and the synonymy treated here a total of 29 species of hyalella is reached. it would seem that h. pernix is the most widespread species in brazil and in south america as a whole.

Abstract: Design for manufacturing, design for assembly, and, in general, design for X, are methods helping an effective generation of industrial products. In parallel with the development of these methods, the research about usability engineering has generated many important results, both from the design, and the evaluation and testing points of view. The research described in this paper aims at evaluating the feasibility of the integration of two new usability methods, the design for innovative usability - DFIU -, and the integrated method for usability evaluation and testing - IMUET -, in an existing design for X named design guidelines collaborative framework - DGLs-CF -. Indeed, the DGLs-CF is a design for multi-X method, given that it covers both the manufacturing and the verification phases of the industrial product lifecycle. All these methods are currently under development by the author’s research group. To evaluate this feasibility, the first task of the research aims at describing and classifying the components of the three methods. Next, these components are semantically related to each other. Finally, the last activity verifies the compatibility between the components of the two usability methods and the data structures of the DGLs-CF to check the feasibility from the implementation point of view. The result of this research will consist of precise indications both for the development of a design for multi-X collaborative framework covering homogeneously the design, manufacturing, verification, and use phases of the industrial product lifecycle, and to be used as a reference for researchers interested in considering the integration of usability issues in their design tools, methods, and processes.
Aduba??o e calagem para o feijoeiro irrigado em solo de Cerrado

Abstract: three experiments were carried out to study the effect of different rates of lime, levels of basal chemical fertilizers and split n applications on common bean. the first experiment studied the response of bean to six rates of lime (0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 ton ha-1). in the second experiment the response of five bean cultivars/lines (aporé, carioca, novo jalo, ma534657, and ma534666-2) to three rates of basal fertilizer treatments (200, 400 and 600 kg ha-1 of 4-30-16 complex fertilizer) plus n side dressing of 30 kg ha-1 at 25 days after germination was studied. the third experiment studied the effect of different rates of n fertilization (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 kg ha-1) applied in one, two, three, and six split applications at ten days interval, from 20 to 70 days after germination. liming increased the absorption of n, p, k, ca, mg and cu and bean yield up to 37%. aporé cultivar was the most productive and the most responsive to fertilization. maximum yield of cultivars/lines was obtained with 400 kg ha-1 of fertilizer plus 30 kg ha-1 of n, except for carioca cultivar. in the third experiment the bean yield increased by n fertilization up to 120 kg ha-1 and the highest yield was 3,170 kg ha-1. the number of split n in side dressing applications did not affect bean yield.

Abstract: Em três experimentos de campo, avaliaram-se os efeitos da calagem, da aduba o de plantio e de N em cobertura, para o feijoeiro comum. No primeiro experimento, testaram-se doses de calcário (0, 3, 6, 9, 12, e 15 t ha-1); no segundo, a resposta de cinco cultivares/linhagens de feijoeiro (Aporé, Carioca, Novo Jalo, MA534657 e MA5346662) à aplica o no sulco de plantio de 200, 400 e 600 kg ha-1 do fertilizante 4-30-16 mais 30 kg ha-1 de N em cobertura aos 25 dias após germina o, e no terceiro, as doses de N (0, 30, 60, 90 e 120 kg ha-1) aplicadas em cobertura a intervalos de dez dias, a partir dos 20 até aos 70 dias após a emergência das plantulas. A dose de 30 kg ha-1 foi parcelada em uma e duas vezes, e as demais doses, em duas, três e seis vezes. A calagem aumentou a absor o de N, P, K, Ca, Mg e Cu e a produtividade do feijoeiro em até 37%. A cultivar Aporé foi a mais produtiva e a que mais respondeu à aduba o. Com exce o da Carioca, as produtividades máximas das demais cultivares/linhagens foram alcan adas com a dose de 400 kg ha-1 de fertilizante mais 30 kg ha-1 de N em cobertura. Houve resposta até a dose máxima testada de 120 kg ha-1 de N, atingindo produtividade máxima de 3.170 kg ha-1. O parcelamento de N em cobertura n o afetou a produtividade do feijoeiro.
Using Rapid Prototyping Data to Enhance a Knowledge-Based Framework for Product Redesign  [PDF]

Abstract: The particular characteristics of Rapid Prototyping technologies, both in terms of constrains and opportunities, often require the reconfiguration of the product model to obtain the best compliance with the product functionalities and performances. Within this field of research, a knowledge-based tool named Design GuideLines Collaborative Framework (DGLs-CF) was developed to support both the designers defining the product consistently with the manufacturing technologies and the manufacturers defining the building setup consistently with the product requirements. Present work is focused on enhancing the DGLs-CF knowledge base and on updating the DGLs-CF knowledge management by using the information gathered on some RP technologies. The added-value of this research is represented by an improvement in the Redesign/Reconfig- uration Package, the final result of the DGLs-CF adoption. This is a list of actions to be performed on the product model and on the process parameters to avoid the limitations of the technology and to exploit at best its opportunities.
Classification and Selection of Prototyping Activities for Interaction Design  [PDF]

Abstract: Because of the evolution of markets and technologies, prototyping concerns should be kept updated almost day by day. Moreover, user centered design moves the focus towards interaction issues. Prototyping activities matching such characteristics are already available, but they are not so diffused in the industrial domain. This is due to many reasons; an important one is that a rigorous classification of them is missing, as well as an effective helping tool for the selection of the best activities, given the design context. The research described in this paper aims at defining a new classification of prototyping activities, as well as at developing a selection algorithm to choose the best ones in an automatic way. These goals are pursued by defining a set of characteristics that allow describing accurately the prototyping activities. The resulting classification is made by five classes, based on eighteen characteristics. This classification is exploited by the first release of an algorithm for the selection of the best activities, chosen in order to satisfy design situations described thanks to a different set of eleven indices. Five experiences in the field have been used up to now as a starting point for validating the research outcomes.

Abstract: Palicourea rigida H.B.K. (Rubiaceae), a medicinal species commonly known as douradinha, has wide distribution across ecosystems in Central and South America. This species exhibits seed dormancy delaying germination until optimal conditions for seedling growth and development are in place. While dormancy ensures species survival, it also presents a technical problem for developing P. rigidas plant production program. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate if secondary metabolites present in seeds influence the seed dormancy of P. rigida. Mature fruits were harvested from the native habitat, in the savanna region of the State of Minas Gerais during February 2009, 2010 and 2011. The content of phenolic compounds in the seed of P. rigida was measured, and the allelopathic effects were assessed using the germination of lettuces as model to detect phytotoxicity. The P. rigida seeds geminated at rates varying between 7% and 31% with a Seed Germination Index (SGI) of 0.09. Data suggest that the phenolic compounds present in the seeds may be

Abstract:

In this paper some photovoltaic, PV, conversion chains architectures for on-grid applications have been proposed and the advantage of the direct use of a Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) bus for the DC loads has been shown. The evaluation of the efficiency of the proposed chains compared to the classical one was performed. It is shown that LVDC use instead of standard AC plugs, in numerous applications, is promising in future. The registered annual saved energy can exceed 25% of the PV generated energy. This important rate, the need of better services at lower economic cost and environmental burden will incite to make reflection about industry and supplies’ future standards.
